  • What can go wrong, if this was in the book of the primary school?

  • I discovered LaVern Baker 2 days ago. I was @ coffee shop & they had a "Class Acts-Vegas" CD....and she had "Wheel of Fortune". I've played this song constantly. I've web searched to find out more about her & here I am. I grew up listening to my mom & the "grown ups" listening to Sam, Jackie, Aretha. Now I'm drawn to these great voices of days past. Amazing voice!!

  • I love this woman

  • Oldies NICE!! This is a nice change of music. Thank You DoowopRick.

  • Back in the Day, they could actually "Sing"

    What a Beautiful Voice!

Go Jim Dandy, Go Jim Dandy!

  • Love LaVern Baker and I never heard this so, thank you. Interesting thing about this tune is that I could swear that I hear Thurl Ravenscroft as the single male back-up vocal.

In doing a little research, it seems that he did a number of songs with famous artists in this capacity and while I couldn't find him credited on this tune anywhere ~ I'd bet a huge bowl of Frosted Flakes that it's him.

    Ggggrrrrrrreeeeeaaattt!!!!

  • sigh... another person that hasnt studied the history of music... study before you speak.

  • im going through the entire rock n roll hall of fame list. this woman has a lot and i mean a lot of talent. but it is not rock n roll. No disrespect and DO NOT get me wrong this woman is gifted and talented but not a deserving act

  • a truly great singer she makes every song sound special

  • HOW ANYONE NOT LIKE THIS??? THEY MUST BE TONE DEAF!!

    THANKS FOR UPLOADING!!!

SHE HAS AN OTHER SONG, HAVE LONG BEEN LOOKING FOR IT STILL NOT FOUND! i am not sure of the title, but is about her singing how she is lazy to cook, her brother is betting on horses, etc...etc... if anyone knows the title, or can upload please do !!! thanks for this one!!!

  • This is my grandmother No joke....I wish she was still here First she adopted my mom Laanna White then she had me..........i love my grandmothers music

  • The great, great Lavern Baker voice is dynamite. Just a hellava singer. She deserved better. I rate her very high on list of the best. So many great singers.

  • On Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars tour circa 1960, fifteen yr. old Annette Funicello was one of the stars. Laverne was throwing the "f" word around alot. Annette's tudor/chaperone told Laverne that there were minors around. Laverne replied, "If she's not old enough to hear this language, maybe she shouldn't be on this tour". I lost alot of respect for Laverne after reading this story, told by the tudor herself.

  • poor little Annette boohoo I bet she went through her whole life without one bad little utterance grow up thats show business shall we talk about what Lavern and her fellow singers had to endure I bet thats why the '' f '' word

  • @shaniaw58

A lady in 1960 did not through the "f" word

around minors. Even today I wouldn't do

that. Only low life trash behaves in that

fashion. P.S. Annette didn't make LaVern a slave. Her own people sound herr into slavery. Stop playing the race card!

  • @SandySummers @SandySummers You are too ignorant to discuss the slave trade or racial issues during the 50's. I saw LaVern Baker perform at the Howard Theater. When Dick Clark brought his tour to Washington, D.C's Carter Baron Amphitheater even though I lived close enough to hear the music SEGREGATION prevented me and ALL BLACK people from attending shows at that venue.

  • @SandySummers Ms Baker could have used the "f" word in those days. In order to travel, and live with men there was a certain amount callousness a female HAD to have in order to survive the rigors of that life. A prissy proper black female would NOT been permitted to be out like that. She was born in the 30's which is quite different from the "glamourous" ingenues from Motown.

  • @VTERRELL Stop playing the race card. Making excuses for low life trash behavior hurts the black community. Coretta Scott King & Rosa Parks had more reason to act out, but chose instead to be ladies. They rose above portraying themselves as the "n" word. You should take a lesson from them instead of name calling like you did in your previous post. Stop portraying yourself as low life trash.

  • @Mongo76. LaVerne could take a lesson from Coretta Scott King or Rosa Parks. The latter 2 ladies had more reason to act out, but chose to take the high road. Why don't you take the high road and stop defending bad behavior? Heroin addiction and inappropriate behavior in the company of minors is bad behavior. Check yourself.

  • @Mongo76 Stop playing the race card. Obviously don't can't come up with a legitimate reason for lowlife trash behavior.

  • @Mongo76. Stop complaining because someone put you in your place!

  • @SandySummers Get a hobby and a life instead of running around in chat rooms slandering deceased music legends based on hearsay. That's all, toodles.

  • Based on your behavior, I believe exactly what was said about LaVerne. Instead of attacking women on YouTube, can't you be a credit to the world? Why don't you stop blacks from murdering little black children sitting on their own front steps. Or, are you going to deny that's happening too?

  • @SandySummers And what if that happened? It's quite stupid to reduce a person's whole entire life's meaning to one incident. What about her selfless action of taking in a child and adopting her raising her as her own? What about the 20 years she serves as music director at a venue on a military base in the phillipines and entertaining our servicemen? You talk about a race card but then make an ignorant statement about black people murdering black children You are sick.

  • @SandySummers No little children have been murdered on their porch in my family nor has it happened in any families that I know personally and what the hell does that have to do with anything? How about you stop white priests from molesting little white altar boys? Or stop white pedophiles from kidnapping, raping and killing little white children, or are you going to deny THAT is happening? You really are a dumass smh ..... I'll pray for you.

  • @SandySummers NO. YOU STOP THE PALE MAN(so called white man) FROM MURDERING PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD. The paleman knows exactly who he is and where he came from however, he has skillfully danced in and out of the truth, adding and subtracting anything that he doesn’t like! The thing he obviously knows is that he is not the builder of the great pyramids of Khemet (Egypt, of which he claims his civilization is a part of) and that the people who did build them were Nuwaubians(BLACKS!!!).

  • @bobbywinterz Do not exaggerate. Egyptians were not black. Dark-skinned -yes. Sorry for my bad english

  • @moorzeekable I guess you are referring to the "Hyksos"(Dark-Skinned Pale People With NO MELANIN) who INVADED egypt during the second intermediate period, around 1600 BCE. THEY WERE NOT THE BUILDER'S OF THE GREAT PYRAMIDS. Luciferians who are the Canaanites(so called white people), tries to reduce the importance of melanin, they being of all the creatures on the planet with melanin, the most melanin recessive. Yet, controlling propaganda and the media tries to hide the very word melanin.

  • @bobbywinterz For me, it does not matter the color of human skin. As for science - I met the view that the Hyksos were dark-skinned, and the ancient Egyptians had a reddish tinge to the skin.

  • @moorzeekable "For me, it does not matter the color of human skin". Yes it does. You put great emphasis on color with your first comment, and YES the Ancient Egyptians were black, red and yellow. Nubians are all the colors of the Rainbow. NOT PALE. Mexicans, Latinos and Asians are ALL BLACK. Every race comes from the black woman (Africa). Black creates every race and no other race can create black.

  • @bobbywinterz I 'm at a loss. You historian or anthropologist? No one can say what race were our ancestors, and as there was a division and whether it has been.

  • @Mongo76. Are we supposed excuse LaVerne trashy behavior because she got herself addicted to heroin? LaVerne's career fizzled out quickly and Annette went from TV star, to recording artist, to leading lady in the movies. Annette has never had any controvery connected to her. LaVerne's behavior was lowlife trash. Why are you defending lowlife trash behavior? Do you act inappropriate around children as well?

  • No disrespect to Aretha, but Laverne should have been the 1st female voted into the HOF. She had to endure so much and she open the door for those to follow, like Aretha. She is the true Queen, the Pioneer, The Mother, and whatever else of Rock and Roll.

  • She Had Such A Great Voice. :-)
