I wonder if the sound quality is the same as in pocket pod? Because I had one and it's very nice for home recording. But i need only black panel model. Also, is the pocket pod sound same as from pod 2.0? Which one to choose from three of them?
@mauriciotav you could but you may not be happy with the sonic results. You should look into one of our PODs with an XLR input specifically for microphones like the POD HD Desktop.
@thisisobviously Pocket POD Express does not connect via USB to your computer. You'll need the regular Pocket POD for editing on your computer via USB.
Just a quick question, I know its prob mentioned in hear some where but I just wanna know if I can basically use it as an amp, like can i just plug in and play from it or??
@pbWebb92 Not really sure what you mean but you can just plug headphones into it along with a guitar and play. It won't power a speaker cabinet though. You need a power amp for that.
In my opinion this thing doesn't sound any better in headphones than just hooking of a distortion pedal. but really for 40 bucks it's not bad at all for just an extra multi/distortion pedal/noise maker.
I was really hoping I could link this directly into my comp without software. It does, but it is extremely quiet. Sad. But this little gadget is amazing. I am glad best buy still had them, since they are now out of production!!!!
can you switch the modes with a Boss distorion and i got a guitar center catolog and it said while suppleys last and i was wonder how long will that go on cause i plan on getting it after christmas im so exected !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ionbc Yes however, you’d be better off looking into a USB or Firewire audio interface to connect to your computer and then connect the POD into that.
im gonna buy this but im not sure about something? anyone please help ASAP, ok if i get this will this be the ONLY THING I NEED to start recording?, like am i just gonna be able to use like a guitar-guitar cable-pod-usb-pc-audacity and start recording straight from the pod? no software needed?
@HELLIONNUMBER96 run a 1/8th inch stereo cable from the headphone output to the "Line-in" or "Mic" input on your pc or laptop. Get "Audacity" recording software online for free, just google it. Choose the correct source in Audacity, adjust levels and your good to go. I've used many different Multi-fx boxes to record this way. No amp needed if you have good pc speakers and a sub-woofer.
Hey, is it possible to connect our sound system to this cutie? I mean can't i plug my creative 2.1 through the headphone input or something else? And if i can is it possible for the other line 6 pods?
@StewieKaan Yes. If your creative speakers are self powered then you can plug them straight into the headphone jack on the Pocket POD Express. This works the same for all PODs. Please not however, the POD is a stereo device and will not deliver surround sound audio.
I have a question, does this pedal gives a really powerful heavy metal tone? Tones like metallica, megadeth, slayer etc. Pls reply, im considering on getting this pedal soon,
Just wanted to let the Line 6 guys know this is a great review and way better than most L6 reviews. How so? There wasn't a bunch of info on the product that is already listed on the website with cheezy background music. There was good playing on nice guitars that complemented each amp model. I also liked the fact that each model was shown w/o effects and then w/ effects. I'd like to see more of the Line 6 reviews done in this fashion. Good job.
this thing is just fenomenal. Sounds awesome through headphones and in recordings. The effects are ok, but the ampsimulator is why you buy it. The "Twang" speaker is by far the best of the five simulators. It also works great with stompboxes.
if you connect this Line6 POD EXPRESS...are all effects on the amp gonna be disable????and all those tone dialers on your guitar?(of course you can still control the volume)
or you have to manually switch off the MIDI+BASS+REVERB+TREBLE+GAIN
@davecarpio The Pocket POD Express doesn't disable any guitar or amp parameters. You'll still be able to use your guitar tone knobs and your amps EQ's.
I've got one of this 'sweeties" - very nice clean sound, very nice effects. Distortions, are very good but... "just" very god. In my opinion this is one of these things, every guitarist must have in his "guitar armory". Well done Line 6.
The Pocket POD Express does not have an acoustic simulator but you can dial in a nice clean tone with it. You can easily output it to an amplifier or come out of the headphone jack to computer speakers.
easy, you hold down the tap button for 2 seconds and it turns into a tuner. if the string is flat the light with the flat symbol lights up. if its too sharp the light with the sharp symbol lights up. both lights will light up if the string is in tune.
this guy is awesome, my dad who also plays guitar says unlike a sports player great guitarists never leave it all on the stage, they only show you a little taste each show of what they can do, this guy i can tell did not show off and he definatley held back his mad skillz. wana join my band lol
This is more like a little POD 2.0 rather than a Spider but the modeling technology in the Pocket POD is the same as in the Spider so they will sound similar.
soz im a real beginner to recording guitar distortion etc. would this pedal help me record with better sound quality because iv got the ME20 and puting this into a line in on a laptop sounds really rough, would this have to replace my ME20 for recording purposes ? anyone's help greatly appreciated ! !
You'd essentially run the Pocket POD the same way as your ME20. Just out of the POD into the Line In of your computer. It should sound fine but you may eventually want to look into getting a better audio interface for your recording purposes. Check out our POD Studio line of products.

@ukuleleacole you can't plug directly into a cabinet because the POD is a pre amp and does not have a power amp section to drive a cabinet.
