@mpzreb17 Actually....not all. i seem to have a perfect bolt on mine. only time ive had any issues was with a couole laquered rounds that swelled in the chamber.
and he did not fuck up the last reload. the damn bolt does that on every 91/30. two stage cocking mechanisms can be a bitch, especially in cold weather. (disclaimer: i dont even know this guy)
I love Mosin Nagants. I love the fact yours aside from whatever you did to the bolt is all original. I really prefer people keep these stock with maybe a historic scope or something the Russians would actually do. I understand technology has come a long way, but if you want technology pay for it. There are 12 gauge shotguns similarly priced for home defense, for example. These rifles are great for collectors and history buffs, and its nice to see one not Bubba'ed up. Good shooting too.
"If you want technology, pay for it?" Seriously? Why? If I can have a modified Mosin that will do anything I want it to for under $300, why should I pay 2-5X the price for something else? Because YOU are nostalgic? I think not. Purists like you lack vision. Namely of people who CAN'T (or don't want to) afford a $1,000 rifle, but CAN afford a Mosin with an ATI stock.
for a 100 dollar rifle you can kill alot of people defend your family and property and shoot all the animals you need to survive and it takes almost no maintence to keep it running because it was made to endure the elements made for outdoor use/ infantry field weapon, makes it a great choice for survival weopon
nice I have 6 Mosins, I got my my sister one for XMAS, of course she gets a 1939 Tula ex sniper. I cant believe how much better the snipers quality and bolt action are than my others. Just tested it 2" grouping at 250 yards. I used the expensive winchester ammo
@10rupeejezail very true, I just wish somebody would come out with a good cheap target round that's not surplus, I bought a ham can from Bulgaria and if they don't hang fire, every 3rd round is a dud.
@fatguyaaron A guy gave me a deal on silver bear when he didn't have the spam cans in stock. It's pretty good IMHO. I can shoot that better than my M4gery. Try a box and see what you think.
"Im proud to own a Mosin Nagant, where at least I know im protected! I wont forget the men I shot, who tried to rob me! And id gladly shoot, any robber and defend you goods today! Cause there ain't no doubt I love this gun, God bless the Mosin Nagant! From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee. Across the plains of Texas, From sea to shining sea. From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A. Well there's pride in every owners heart! (Thats the best I can do... lol I tried)
I love my Mosin. I have 2 straight bolt 91 30 models and love them. This is a real conversation piece when teaching young peploe how to shoot. A lot of boom for little price.
i still hate seeing a ex sniper 91/30 being used in this way.... could you at least use a straight bolt next time....those turned down nagants where hand picked and much rarer
Impressive, even by my standards. Now all you need is a 10rd mag and a 10 round stripper clip. Unfortunately the first is not yet in production (as far as I know) and the latter doesn't exist.
Yes I actually do, the sling is used for a more firm stable grip/rest on the rifle. it made it easier to transition from targets using the sling to pivot.
But why would you ask me that? Are you some kind of "expert" here to critique my video? or just another amateur that thinks he can do better?
Answer, for a bolt action rifle yes i would consider that rapid fire. Unless you can show me how you would rapid fire a bolt action rifle? i'm interested in your idea of Rapid fire there sir.
that was fabulous shooting! The Mosin nagant is one of my all time favorite rifles, especially for its simplicity and ease of use. The bent bolt handle will help enormously, but you don't have to weld it yourself. You can buy a sniper bolt body with the bolt handle already lengthened and turned down. Check the youtube video: "changing to a sniper bolt body", you might find it interesting.
It worked out good for me because I have a buddy of mine that works at a welding shop. a gun smith wont necessarily bend the bolt for you. What I did was get a strip of stainless steel rod and cut it the lenth i desired, heated it up in the center and bent it. cut the old bolt handle off the assembly. drill and tap a slot for the new handle, thread the handle, screw it into the bolt assembly, take the old ball off the old bolt handle and do the same (drill and tap and thread)
Nice bolting there man........

Mosin Nagants are the best $100 you can spend. We'll be telling stories about that when they're $300 each some day.

How would you advise going about getting the bolt bent on a Mosin Nagant? Is it possible to do it yourself? Or would it be best to go to a gunsmith?
Iamcartmanxd 1 year ago
that bent bolt seemed to help immensely. my rapid fire was sluggish cause it doesnt give you much to grab. but you fixed that prob.
