I am so desperate to see this movie! I have an idea in my head for a film that is a mix up of this and the Poseidon adventure. On some celebration(Like Christmas or Easter ETC) A plane crash lands on a cruise liner causing it to sink. It lands on a underwater rock during the free fall, and a bunch of survivors must find a way to raise the ship to the surface.

I was three years old when this came out and I didn't see this film until years later but I had no idea they made a t.v. mini-series for this. Wow, I didn't know up to a month ago that there was a mini-series made for "Starman" - the 80's where it all happened. I've seen the movie nonetheless - it was okay.

The little girl who received the gift was in a number of commercials from the 80's. I remember how annoying it was the way she talked. Emma Samms was hot of course.

When this miniseries was cut down to a 2 hour movie, it lost some of its epic quality. Frank Gorshin is an incredibly evil guy who secretly executes people who get injured or sick so that they won't be a burden on the rest of the survivors. He's one of the people who don't want to leave the Goliath when the salvage people mount a plan to bring everybody to the surface. Christopher Lee has some WWII documents that contain some horrendous secrets that can never be revealed!

Wow - I have vague memories of this film from watching it as a kid. I almost thought I had dreamt it. Is there a scene where a would be rescuer indicates to the captain they are there to rescue them, and the captain responds, 'Rescue us from what?'
