it might be easier to play if you went staight with your hand instead of curving it, keep your left arm straight and your fingers curving into the fretboard instead of slinging them across like that. it's about five hundred million times easier to move your fingers around and such.

I teach guitar and will say, this is a good lesson.

For the strum/rhythm pattern, I suggest trying D D UDD or count 1 2 &4& as a starting point.
