  • Wow a white guy trying out and teaching Indian folk to wear their own dress..Irony of the century!

  • Wedding is only only two days away. Thanks a million!

    wonderfully done.

  • At least learn how to pronounce it.

  • Thanxxxxxxxxxxx...

  • wow am ashamed I never knew how to tie a dhoti like this well done am gonna try it lol

  • how much material would you need (if you don't have an original dhoti)?

  • how big does the fabric need to be? What dimensions?

  • Done marvelously - Hare Krishna :)

  • good job! -i kept getting lost but im just terrible at following directions-

  • Having to teach costume history, the sections on more traditional dress have always eluded me so I am very grateful for your video. One question arises. Does one wear this as the only garment or is there an other undergarment of sorts to be worn under the Dhoti?

  • I learned alot in this vid clip!

  • Very well taught, just tried for my son and even he liked it.

  • thanks dude.........

  • Thumbs up if hes the best at this

  • I love it you are better than the rest just as my dad done his thanks

  • I really appreciate the way you have explained the method to put on a dhoti or 'dhuti' as it is known in Bengal. The way you have shown it is perfect and without any ambiguity. The neatness with which you have put it on is appreciable. Very few Bengalis of your age know how to put it on. I do not know weather it is 'Vrindavan style'. This is certainly originally Bengali style also popular in Assam and Orissa. Probably it has been made popular in Vrindavan by ISKCON that's why you call it so.

  • YOU are awesome!!! Thank you much :) *hug

  • Thank you so much. This is the best Dhoti Tutorial on You Tube. Your tutorial is a lot better than the Indian guys who posted dhoti tutorials. Great job! I love this style! Btw how long is your Dhoti?

  • Great job... this is how a man should wear a traditional dhoti. I picked up some in Mumbai and I've got one my fiance' gave me last year. They are very comfortable and great attire for prayer or special occasions. Nice...

  • Good job... this is exactly how a man should wear a dhoti. I have several colors of these that I baught in Mumbai and a white one my fiance' gave me last year. Very classy and sheek attire to wear for prayer or for special occasions.

  • Mate , thats a beautiful way to do it. Much appreciated

  • It's weird to think that this garment is older than known history, going back as far as the first century BC.

  • thank you!

  • Thanks, very useful information for westerners who may wish to experiment, or for costume dress, or to attempt to blend in with the locals.

  • thanks,u did it in a proper manner for the kids to learn.

  • NICE VIDEO. THANKS PRABU!

  • Thank you so much. This is fantastic!

  • Thank you!

  • Haribol! Thank you, Prabhu, well done...thanks for posting.

  • How does one go to the toilet wearing a thing like that?

Seems too complicated. Just a pair of trousers is easier than all the fumbling...? (Just i.m.h.o.)

  • You guys might think Indians were pretty complicated when it comes to wear cloths like dhoti ! and saree!

It also appears in the music instruments like sitar , tabla , also appears in the old temples ! All carved stones no iron !

    Indians are complicated !

  • haribol Prabhu,

    well done ;) Thank you

  • thanks bhaiya! :)

  • Its a different style than I learned from my elders. I shall try it next time on a traditional gathering

  • i loved it!!! thank you very much!!!

  • goooooooood i will try it thanks a lot

  • Thank you teacher!

  • Very helpful video - the dhoti is such a comfortable thing to wear! The key to remember is that the back pleat is folded horizontally - parallel to the long side of the dhoti - and the front pleat is folded vertically - parallel to the short side of the dhoti. Once I got that, tieing the dhoti became easy.

  • Hare Krishna

Thank you so much for this video!

This will really help me learn how to properly wear a dhoti!

I bought one a few days ago at the temple and a few devotees were showing me how to put it on .

I was a little perplexed when I tried to do this on my own.

I can't tell you how much your video helped.

I was also wondering how one should wear a angavastram (wrap piece)?

I like how you can make the dhoti more nice looking at the end of the video I didn't realize that you could do that .

  • Excellent! Just like how we wear them in Vrindavan :)

  • DHOVATHI or DHOTHI is either hand made or factory made. Ususally the white or creme coloured or saffron colours look elegant and beautiful. Ususally DHOVATHIS look elegant when they are made with 3to 5 inch boarders or hem line. in the olden days when INDIA was under British rule, they used weave fine cotton white colour DHOVATHIS - guess in GLASGOW and hence those DHOVATHIS are called GLASGOW DHOVATHIS. DHOVATHIS like INDIAN sarees for women are so elegant, graceful and beautiful.

  • Seriously... this is nice... thanks

  • thats really a nice way to learn how to tie a Dhoti i like it
