Brilliant - what more proof does anyone need to know that the goverment consists of a bunch of liars. It gets even better: all the banks say that they won't let someone who is temporarily living abroad to open an account, because they can't satisfy the "know your customer" regulations if someone is overseas. But that can't be the reason: The Royal Bank of Scotland refused to let me open a savings account with them, despite the fact that I have had a current account with them for 24 years!! If they don't know me by now, who does?!!

It illustrates beyond doubt that the main high street banks in the UK do not back up in practice what Ian Pearson stated as a fact.

Ian - you said that we could open UK bank accounts but you are wrong!! This pushed people to bank on the Isle of Man where thousands of us lost all our money!

When is your Government going to work with the Isle of Man to get 100% of our money back??

Reality hit all of us full in the face in October 2008!

Fabulous - the reality is that you CANNOT BANK IN UK IF YOU DON'T LIVE IN UK.

This isn't set in LAW but IN THE BANKS COMMON PRACTICE as discovered by the Treasury Select Committee.

The Abbey, Bradford and Bingley now owned by that big Spanish bank want ID for EVERY NEW ACCOUNT OPENED regardless whether you have had one with them for donkeys years!!!

Thanks but I would go one further. Before AML we can bank in UK, after AML we can't. They say it's not the law but clearly it is. There's no law that says I cannot gouge out Ian Pearson's eyes with a soldering iron but if I tried I would be arrested for breaking a whole load of other laws. HMG has created a situation using legal means to prevent British nationals living temporarily or permanently outside UK to bank legally in the UK. If that's not the law then I'm John Prescott in a tutu.
