Bert & Ernie, they were my favorites on Sesame Street because they were so funny! I was in 5th grade when Jim Henson died, I remember me and my classmates were sad to hear about his death. I'm glad they picked Steve Whitmire to continue as Ernie. Is Bert voiced by Eric Jacobson in this video, or Frank Oz, it's hard to tell. I must say Steve & Eric do pretty good in the newer skits.
Bert's face at the end''it's the thought that counts'' he is also like he is saying ''why me?'' like he usually does when Ernie does shilly things.Bert's face cracks me up every time!
Jim Henson always taught kids important lessons. He never forgets that being naughty is an important part of childhood, which I believe sets his work apart. We all know as Jim clearly did, being naughty is FUN when no one gets hurt.
Hold on my friend. Steve Whitmire performs most of Jim Henson's high pitched characters like Kermit & Ernie. And the reason why Kermit's not on Seasame anymore because of business reasons with Disney and stuff.
But yeah, Kermit and Ernie do sound higher and the personalites are changed. But at least it's something. Even though Jim wanted his creations to live on after his death, I don't fully agree. Everything is kind of falling apart. Only Muppet projects from 1991 - 1996 were cool to me. :)
Yeah, They still own clips of Kermit on Sesame Street. Sesame Workshop owns the rights to that. But they got to credit Muppet Studios LLC (used to be Muppets Holding Company LLC) for specialized permission for that and the use of the name "Muppet(s)"
Excuse me but Frank Oz still does Bert, as well as Grover and Cookie Monster. Ernie is done by Brian Henson, the son of Jim Henson and I think he does Ernie great. Kermit however he does not do very well which is why you rarely see Kermit the Frog on Sesame Street anymore.
Actually Brian, despie popular belief, does not and has never performed Kermit or Ernie, They are both now performed by Jim Henson's long-time colleague Steve Whitmire, performer of Rizzo the Rat and Bean Bunny. He actually does a really good Kermit, (though it did take a year or two for him to really nail it ) its just that in February 2000 the were purchased by the german network EM. TV and the Sesame muppets and merchandising rights were sold to CTW, now caled Sesame Workshop.
so like I was saying before the word limit cut me off
In 2001 EM. Tv was really hurting financially and after long talks sold the Jim Henson Company back to Jim Henson's five kids just in time for season 32 which had Kermit's last new appearance on Sesame; he was a reporter reporting about a hurricane that hit the street in Episode 3976 and was part of a story arc that lasted until 3980.
In 2004 the Jim Henson Company sold the classic Muppets & the Bear in the Big Blue House charachters to Disney & Disney just flat out refuses to let JHC use the frog unless they pay an insane sum of money. That's why he's not on Sesame anymore, and why hes edited out of all the recent non-classic muppet JHC dvd releases where he was often used for intrductions, conclusions & linking footage. You're now an honorary fangeek. =)
I took a special personality test recently. It determined which Sesame Street Character I was: I'm Bert! Will I guess that makes it official. Hmmm... maybe it's time I stopped plucking and let my unibrow grow in!
"I'd love to shove that Rubber-Ducky right down Ernie's big mouth! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!"
Sorry...I was responding to the post about a personality test to see which SS character you are.....does anyone know where the test is available? Thanks!!
steve whitmire actually started playing ernie after jim henson died. and when it comes to frank oz, he doesn't really work on sesame street anymore. eric jacobson performs bert most of the time now.
This is cute, but I'am still looking for the one where Ernie is putting away all fire engines, all the big toys, all the red toys... and leaving a huge pile of non-big non-red ones still out for Bert.
why is the picture weird... how do i stretch it!?

I'd have thought Ernie would put the rubber duckie right at the top, since it's his favourite toy.

I was thinking that too.
And I noticed that you had a one thumbs down before. I have no idea who put that there so I fixed it for you. Some iqnorant Hippy perhaps. LOL
But anyway, this sketch is desent. Probably because Frank's in it.

no, not 31 seasons. Sesame Street is already at its 39th season. it premiered in 1969.
