i hate it when software like ableton and reason make it difficult to perform a simple idea like changing the time signature!. OK so it works in V7 but they should have sorted than in V1. Its such a simple, common thing to do. anyway for those with older versions - you can do it using a host DAW like sonar etc. I dont mind that so im not upgrading yet.
Of course you can set time signature changes and tempo changes into the linear view, and he says so in the video. You can do that with pretty much any software.
However, as far as I know, Live is the only software that allows you to do anything even close to what is shown in this video. Creating patterns and parts with different timesignatures and tempos, and then seamlessly switching between them. And that's why they focus on this.
This video is cool because he's trying to answer questions many people about, but wrong about its execution. A simpler, faster, and easier way to change time signatures in the arrangement view (without having to mess with the session view):
1) highlight the region/click on timeline so the yellow line appears where you want to insert a time signature change
2) Go to Create > clink on "Insert Time Signature Change"
3) Enter the time signature (i.e. 6/8) and hit enter/return
@ctmexperiment Thanks for this info. Is there any way to automate the switching between time signatures? For instance, I want my track to alternate between 3/4 and 5/4 continuously. Thanks in advance.
Mr. Singletary is notorious for leaving questions unanswered.Great programe but the support SUX ASS.I to want to do the same Time Sig 1 bar In arag. veiw. And wheres the answer? NOWHERE. Id also like to know how to use automation in session view. NOONE seems to know that either.
Can this be done without the Session View? It seems like a long way around, at least for what I'm trying to do. Can time signatures be added manually to the Arrangement View without recording them from Session?
Ableton is the best. I keep learning new things..

how do you layer time signatures? I've been trying to figure out how to do 6/8 over 4/4

@LIGHTRONIX You can either use "stretch notes" in midi or use the triplet grid.

Look into it, almost no software does this.

yeah, I have the same question as kermix - I just need to change the time signature for one bar and it has to be simplier than this....
