This is the one time that I've felt George Carlin might be wrong... the one time he was pulled into a swoon of nutty thinking where skepticism went beyond reality into the fucking wish-thinking he so resented.
@GiveMeClarity If you judge and put people into boxes sooner or later you'll get "hurt". Carlin was a just a human; apparently smart enough to know the difference between finding a spaceship in an archaeological dig and "fringe" hypotheses on the origins of ancient structures and religions.
I see no difference between the wishful thinking you (seem to) exhibit for what you consider Carlin's sanity and Carlin's wishful thinking for aliens. P.S. I meant no offence with this.
we brought here some few thousand years ago by our ancestors to this planet we call Earth, they wanted us to survive our species , they died, they left ruins, pyramids so perhaps we could decipher them, but instead we are run by materialistic crap
run by corrupt bastards, that we forgotten our identity.
@asdsafasf3 The idea isnt that a species isnt capable aquiring thosethings on their own, its the suddeness that interests people. It would appear that we evolved from aspecies that couldnt even use tools, to creatures that had essentially the same mind the created nuclear power and space travel realatively overnight. Not that I believe the alien thing tho, but it is interesting.
@dograw75 i agree with you but you are wrong in the suddenness of evolution. There were species leading to humans that had increased intelligence and the capacity to use tools. Even primates actually use (simple) tools and have culture
@doubledutch6rudder Well I am definitely not an expert on the subject, and I dont dispute what you say about the tool use. My understanding is that the evolution concerning abstract thought and self realization developed very fast relative to evolution in general. Again I am not suggesting any artificial design, because that would be a giant leap without any evidence. But I appreciate the correction because I didnt mean to misrepresent anything.
@Pariah1974 What I thought the video would make clear is that no matter how small the other factors get it is still very likely extraterrestial life exists considering how fucking big the universe is.
@RedSkiesAwaitUs Besides the universe probably not being infinite, yes, there is a very high chance there is plenty of life out there, considering how fucking big the universe is.
@Flagritriba The fallacy is that they have decided arbitrarily that the odds say there is life. First of all, there is not a high chance. They SAY, there is a 1 in a billion chance of life developing under similar conditions to ours. And there hundreds of billions of stars with planets.
But they made up "1 in a billion." It's hyperbole, and then they're extrapolating a theory from that.
First leap in logic - Each solar system is assumed to have 10 planets. Why? What is the basis for this? In fact, we now suspect that is not the case.
Second leap in logic - We just choose 1/2 as the number of planets suitable for life. Based on what? Based on the speed with which is arose on Earth? That seems highly subjective. It's poor science.
Third leap - the assumption that sentience and technology is something all life achieves. We are the only life that has.
@rorslol Heard about the newest planet research? They guess there are 500 Million (!) planets in a habitable zone around their star in our milky way. And around 30.000 habitable worlds in a radius of 1000 ly around the earth. This are the latest findings and planet research has just begun.

not everything has to do with race, although racism is more alive than ever.
i'm a mixed blood, with spanish mexican dominant.
there are these anomalies called the nazca lines of peru, where large mountain tops that are completely shaved off. the ancient humans were more advanced than we are(just because we have ipods, OH WE'RE SO ADVANCED) But,
there's something to the theories that go beyond race. but we may never know for sure.
After getting into Ufology and Ancient Aliens and Mythological and Sumerian history I have come to the same exact viewpoint. The human race is doomed by human nature unless the people who genetically engineered us will intervene. But there is no way to know if they were the good guys and/or if they are still the ones in control of Earth. It's all speculation at this point and we will have to wait and see. Either way something has to give as obviously we can not continue on our current descent.
I don't believe George believed in UFO's, I feel it was his method of showing the hypocrisy of religious people who could reject and judge people who believed that Aliens exist. If you listen to other tapes of him discussing the issue I think you would agree.
he can't believe in aliens: he was too smart. (when i say believe in aliens, i don't mean the (small) possibility of them, because of course it's possible, but i mean us being or having been in touch with them right now)
@wraithbaby1 pointing out what i don't know isn't a great strategy. you for instance don't know that i am the supreme alien being controlling all things. you dont know im not. so its now about who says were not in contact, its about who shows the world that we are. and so far, no one has. what does that tell u.
@timmay301 If you really think you are the only living thing in this universe, you are retarded. There doesn't have to be hollywood style bullshit flying frying pans, but there can still be life forms of any intelligence out there.
The fact is any assumption about other life forms is just an assumption even most people who cite the drake equation have to concede it's largely based on conjecture.
The only thing we know is that life formed on this planet and of all the many ways life went and for all the billions of species that have gone extinct only we evolved higher intelligence.
We know life is very rare and intelligent life is 1 in 4 billion and that's all we know.
@timmay301 There are many ranges of "contact". Are our governments aware? Maybe not. Have some people been studied by them? Probably, yes. Does any of this matter? Most likely not.
Carlin and zappa were simalar in belifes. the biggest problem most people are in denial of the truth, and to passive to do anything about it. there arguement is get out and Vote and thats a waste of time. the poor world wide will rise up and take over someday and the sooner the better.
i think its funny how people looked in the audience when george started to talk about aliens. They were like wtf?! lol. this is my own belief, aliens, life elsewhere do exists. and im suprised george knew this much becuase towards the end i knew exactly what he was talking about and trust me.. he knows what hes talking about...
George Carlin was a cynic who had an unhealthy hatred towards anything that upheld the traditional values of the past 5000 years. He pretty much personifies the arrogance of our modern culture.
@petestrat07 Carlin was nothing more than a televangelist for the intellectually lazy. Mocking is never a form of education and or/open-mindedness, it is quite the opposite. But, like most televangelists, he found an audience for books and CD sales.
@piusvapor its not mocking, its public outrage at ANY and ALL hypocrisy, including the estabilshment and the church, because let's face it, both are riddled with corruption, greed, and crime.
Gosh, are there two George Carlins? I've been ripping the crap out of the one, but this fellow is someone that I felt differently about. Maybe they adjusted his medicine, no?
@josh18230 Fuck the history channel. It's mathematically more likely that there are other lifeforms in the universe out of the billions of starts than us. -.-
@josh18230 you can not possibly know for sure. i believe that thinking that there's no one else in the entire universe except us (humans) is very self centred.
@cresten87 Clearly science and statistics are not your strong point. The actual chance of life forming in this universe is astronomical. Only under the painful precise and perfect conditions, and with a bit of luck does it happen. Just because it did, does not mean there is a 100% chance of life. Just because you can roll a 6 with a pair of dice doesn't mean you have a 100% chance to roll a 6. Get it? But based on your comment earlier, you probably don't.
@Reidifer damn... thank you for enlightening me, you are a most wise a powerful being... (also you sound angry?) but you are right though, the chances of life are very very very slim, but hat wasn't my point... My point was (and still is) that although the chances of life are very slim, it still happened.. And when you take the extraordinary size of the universe into consideration, I think that you can call it likely that it happened or will happen somwhere else too...
@josh18230 what? haha you have no clue do you. You never seen one before so you dont even know if they exist or not, and to say that aliens are real or not real is stupid. fact is this, YOU AINT NEVER SEEN ONE RIGHT?! well, then just say you dont know.We dont find our answers on the history channel brother lol :)
@josh18230 Too bad your severely undereducated and have a narrow minded perspective in life if you dont think aliens exist. Look up the disclosure project get informed.
I don't think i will ever reach the level of complexity this man achieved, but i try day by day to be open minded, and it's made my life bearable. I've seen a lot of his work, and he is a fantastic influence.
I am starting the church of Carlin. Please turn up whenever and wherever you feel like, offer a good thought to the sun and praise Joe....Joe bless everyone..
Deep down, I believe Carlin only wanted what was best for humanity. At around 0:56, his usual tone momentarily shatters before he proceeds to speak on this. Very touching.
That extraterrestrial nonsense was a bit strange, though. Didn't quite seem like Carlin there.
@Elena9525 It seemed to me that he was referring to what is now called ancient alien theory, that aliens once visited man in the past and that is where religion/technology came from. If you've ever watched the show on history channel, however silly it may seem, its actually quite convincing.
@charliepossenriede If by convincing you mean "I personally can't think of an explanation... therefore aliens," then yes- that is *exactly* what that show is. Oh, and it's all incredibly silly.
@LeonhardEuler1 Well there are many explanations, that is simply one of them. I think its more plausible that aliens visited us in the past. If you have ever read texts from ancient Sumeria you can see them describing what can only be beings from space. So either it was their imagination, or it was real. Do you have a better explanation? And if you do i'd like to hear it.
@charliepossenriede or it was stories and myths. just like every other civilisation ever they made up stories. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it's true
@shiva1055 I just dont see a problem with doing so, im not forcing my thoughts onto you i just like to speculate. Don't you think it would be interesting if alien life had visited us in the past and possibly helped our civilizations form?
@Elena9525 The truth a bit to outlandish for you? That's okay, some simpletons just can't handle the grand scheme of things and must return their attention to the distractions.
I don't like this mindset that says humans could not possibly invent anything on its own, it must have come from aliens. imo it's as bad as christians poo pooing evolution and inventing god.
I'm not saying aliens don't exist. I'm saying we have huge frontal lobes with one purpose, solve problems. That is what we as humans do, adapt, build, create. We don't need help with this.
I liked G, a lot, but sometimes he was way out there...where I don't know. Maybe he was on something, I don't know. I just think near the end of his life, he just really lost it. He lost touch with reality. He lost touch with meaning in life. I think the world offered so much crazy material for him to consume that it just overcame him. RIP.
i love george carlin, but e know how the pyramids were made. SLAVE LABOUR. there are paintings on the insides depicting slaves carving the stones and dragging them into place. also, even if there are aliens that have mastered intergalactic space travel, they would most likely have died off. if not, it's still highly unlikely they would have looked for, found, or even come anywhere near earth. besides which, if the human race is anything to judge by, alien visitation would have been an invasion
I don't doubt they're may be "aliens", in fact I believe it to be true and I believe it short-sighted and anthropocentric to suggest otherwise. That being said, I find it absolutely diminshing of human beings accomplishments (the pyramids, mathematics, etc.) to accept that the aliens did it. It's thinking like that that is tearing our world apart. I love you George Carlin but on this you are just flat out wrong.
@CmatthYBR Because they weren't. To postulate that Aliens gave us these things takes away from the unbelievable accomplisments that these things were. Some of mankinds greatest achievements are belittled by people suggesting Aliens had a hand in them. The fact of the matter is that if Aliens could reach our planet they would have to be so advanced compared to us that they would have to see us for what we are, an utterly unintelligent and doomed species and just keep on flying
Nobody in the audience had a clue what he was talking about.

i'm a mixed blood, with spanish mexican dominant.
there are these anomalies called the nazca lines of peru, where large mountain tops that are completely shaved off. the ancient humans were more advanced than we are(just because we have ipods, OH WE'RE SO ADVANCED) But,
there's something to the theories that go beyond race. but we may never know for sure.

Either way something has to give as obviously we can not continue on our current descent.

he can't believe in aliens: he was too smart. (when i say believe in aliens, i don't mean the (small) possibility of them, because of course it's possible, but i mean us being or having been in touch with them right now)
timmay301 3 weeks ago
@timmay301 He was to smart to know that we were in contact from the beginning, who says we aren't in contact now? You don't know that.
wraithbaby1 3 weeks ago
@wraithbaby1 pointing out what i don't know isn't a great strategy. you for instance don't know that i am the supreme alien being controlling all things. you dont know im not. so its now about who says were not in contact, its about who shows the world that we are. and so far, no one has. what does that tell u.

@rorslol I like the fryin pans analogy! Thank you for your honesty! I am with you 100%
sacreddragon69 3 weeks ago
@rorslol
Actually he's just logical.

George Carlin was a cynic who had an unhealthy hatred towards anything that upheld the traditional values of the past 5000 years. He pretty much personifies the arrogance of our modern culture.

@piusvapor No,sir. He had a healthy hatred towards bullshit.

@petestrat07 Carlin was nothing more than a televangelist for the intellectually lazy. Mocking is never a form of education and or/open-mindedness, it is quite the opposite. But, like most televangelists, he found an audience for books and CD sales.

timmay301 3 weeks ago

timmay301 3 weeks ago
@josh18230 but dude... we're here... that means that the chance of life in the universe is 100%... of course there is or was life somewhere else...
cresten87 1 month ago

Deep down, I believe Carlin only wanted what was best for humanity. At around 0:56, his usual tone momentarily shatters before he proceeds to speak on this. Very touching.
That extraterrestrial nonsense was a bit strange, though. Didn't quite seem like Carlin there.
Elena9525 1 month ago 2
@Elena9525 It seemed to me that he was referring to what is now called ancient alien theory, that aliens once visited man in the past and that is where religion/technology came from. If you've ever watched the show on history channel, however silly it may seem, its actually quite convincing.
charliepossenriede 1 month ago
@charliepossenriede If by convincing you mean "I personally can't think of an explanation... therefore aliens," then yes- that is *exactly* what that show is. Oh, and it's all incredibly silly.
LeonhardEuler1 1 month ago
@LeonhardEuler1 Well there are many explanations, that is simply one of them. I think its more plausible that aliens visited us in the past. If you have ever read texts from ancient Sumeria you can see them describing what can only be beings from space. So either it was their imagination, or it was real. Do you have a better explanation? And if you do i'd like to hear it.
charliepossenriede 1 month ago
@charliepossenriede or it was stories and myths. just like every other civilisation ever they made up stories. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it's true
shiva1055 4 days ago
@shiva1055 you could be right, or we could both be right and it could be a mixture of the two. nobody knows.
charliepossenriede 4 days ago
@charliepossenriede right. so why make a huge leap to these completely ridiculous conclusions for which there is no evidence.
shiva1055 3 days ago
@shiva1055 I just dont see a problem with doing so, im not forcing my thoughts onto you i just like to speculate. Don't you think it would be interesting if alien life had visited us in the past and possibly helped our civilizations form?
charliepossenriede 3 days ago
@charliepossenriede If aliens wanted our civilisations to form as they have then I question their judgement.
shiva1055 3 days ago

rocker1296 1 month ago
I don't like this mindset that says humans could not possibly invent anything on its own, it must have come from aliens. imo it's as bad as christians poo pooing evolution and inventing god.
I'm not saying aliens don't exist. I'm saying we have huge frontal lobes with one purpose, solve problems. That is what we as humans do, adapt, build, create. We don't need help with this.
shiva1055 1 month ago
I liked G, a lot, but sometimes he was way out there...where I don't know. Maybe he was on something, I don't know. I just think near the end of his life, he just really lost it. He lost touch with reality. He lost touch with meaning in life. I think the world offered so much crazy material for him to consume that it just overcame him. RIP.

libertytooth 1 month ago
i love george carlin, but e know how the pyramids were made. SLAVE LABOUR. there are paintings on the insides depicting slaves carving the stones and dragging them into place. also, even if there are aliens that have mastered intergalactic space travel, they would most likely have died off. if not, it's still highly unlikely they would have looked for, found, or even come anywhere near earth. besides which, if the human race is anything to judge by, alien visitation would have been an invasion
ijobrien3 1 month ago
I don't doubt they're may be "aliens", in fact I believe it to be true and I believe it short-sighted and anthropocentric to suggest otherwise. That being said, I find it absolutely diminshing of human beings accomplishments (the pyramids, mathematics, etc.) to accept that the aliens did it. It's thinking like that that is tearing our world apart. I love you George Carlin but on this you are just flat out wrong.

@cooljayhu If you believe in aliens, then why is it so absurd to think they created some of our greatest entities?
CmatthYBR 1 month ago
@CmatthYBR Because they weren't. To postulate that Aliens gave us these things takes away from the unbelievable accomplisments that these things were. Some of mankinds greatest achievements are belittled by people suggesting Aliens had a hand in them. The fact of the matter is that if Aliens could reach our planet they would have to be so advanced compared to us that they would have to see us for what we are, an utterly unintelligent and doomed species and just keep on flying
