You are better off buying a wireless network adaptor if you dont got a slim xbox 360 because every time you want to sign into xbox live you got to have you laptop turned on.I did use a inthernet cable hooked into my laptop and my xbox 360 but i had a wireless networ adaptor so i used it instead and i found out it is better then using a adaptor.

@emoboynumber13 i might be able to help you is the inthernet cable hooked into your laptop and your xbox if it is turn on your laptop because it always has to be on when you are on xbox live. Go to control panel then go to network and internet connections then go to netwok connections then bridge the wireless network connection with the local area connection then test your xbox live connection and it should work because this is what i did but now i just use a wireless network adaptor.

@iigniitionx : thats all you need just the wireless one and the local are connection. You just need to bridge those too, pay no attention to the 1394 connection

I have bridged them now but after every 15 mins or so both the internet on my PC and my xbox disconnects. I have to delete the bridge and repair the wireless connection to get the inernet running again. I have tried bridging many times aswell as checking and unchecking boxes but this always happens. It works for a short while and then disconects again.

u cant just use any old ethernet cable u need a ethernet crossover cable to be able to send and receive information from the xbox to the laptop so u can use the the wireless connection!

Right finally i got it to work for me without bridging! Right click wireless connection > properties > advanced and check the first box to share the internets, now just simply set your xbox IP either to automatic or manually enter the IP as the same range as the LAN eg. LAN IP is set to 192.168.0.1 so set your xbox to 192.168.0.2, the default gateway is the same as the LAN IP so set that also to 192.168.0.1. I hope this can help anyone who has any problems!

The 1394 is your FireWire, which is something else completely not having to do with this video. You're just concerned with your Regular LAN Ethernet and Wireless LAN "WiFi".

Well not that this method is working for me, but i know how to solve your problem. Right click your wireless connection > Advanced> UNCHECK the box which says "Allow other network users to connect..." etc. Then it should bridge. Although, the problem i have is, my internet disconnects after i bridge them. Any assistance?

Here is a problem solver i have found. when your DNS fails it means your connection speed just simply isnt fast enough for xbox live. Simply unplug the power to the router and your modem and wait 15 seconds then plug your router back in, then your modem. Hope this helps.
