Merely touching the lava in Super Mario Bros. won't insta-kill you. You have to fall below the screen. The jump is completely possible in normal gameplay.

Lava is simpley a tile that creates the illusion of dying in lava, when it is exactly the same as falling in a sky level.

Also he can jump through the pirahana plants because of the hitboxes of them are not the same as the sprites.

There is nothing "bad-ass" about being stupid.

Sorry for the late post, but apply the IPS file to a Super Mario Bros rom (.nes). Lunar IPS should work fine. To hack SMB yourself, get SMBUtility. If you can't read Japanese, make sure you get the english version.

it may just be an intended easter egg to help players. Just look at Super Mario Forever, you can walk through one of the walls without using a hack. If you don't believe me, find a video and see for yourself.

it is possible to do that jump. he goes inside the block a few frames which allows him to jump again. if this glitch has a name i think it is a wall jump glitch.
