Saw Rage on their last tour right before they broke up originally. AMAZING live band! Remember when this came out in 96 I was in high school. Everyone had the first 2 RATM albums.
OMG..my daughter (13 at the time) won tickets to this concert so she and dad went...100,000 people jammed into the Polo Field at Golden Gate Park. The energy was incredible with RATM, Sonic Youth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bjork, Foo Fighters, etc...The crowd surged a few seconds into this song and it took everything I had to get she and I out of the mass of squeeze..never have seen a show of this magnitude and intensity..not one mosh pit, but many mosh pits. Sweet memory indeed!
@KCgrunge Sorry for the months late response, but I felt I'd confirm your thought. Yes, Fuck the Police was originally performed by N.W.A. Rage also covers Cypress Hill's "How I Could Just Kill A Man". Both covers are sick as hell! Just figured I'd give you an answer, since nobody else seemed to think an answer to your question was all too important.
@jumpnjza2 Just curious, were you saying that it was unfortunate that the police were at the free-Tibet concert or were you saying that it sucked that Rage was involved with that cause? In the event that it's the latter, why does that suck? I'm not trying to piss you off, but that cause and others like it were sort of the fuel behind the Rage's fire (i.e. the Mexican Revolutionary group the Zapatistas and their movement towards the repeal of NAFTA's reversal of Articulo 27).
Supporting the independence of Tibet is utterly reactionary. The Lama theocracy that existed in Tibet prior to 1949 enslaved and tortured the population and lived luxuriously off their backs. The Peoples Liberation Army pulverised these despicable parasites and the Tibetan serfs supported the communists. At one point in history, the Dalai Lama was on the CIA payroll to help fund anti-communist tibetan guerrillas.
@jumpnjza2 Wow, that's enlightening! I consider myself to be rather well informed on the world's happenings, but I've never heard of this. I'm interested and would like to read about it. Is there any specific book or collection of books that you would suggest?
USA your country has been stolen by the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK since 1913!! Do your research, get angry and stop paying your taxes on mass or storm the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK are your only options!! Politicians are puppets

@HOUSTONBG10 I saw them on the 9 of june in Holland!!!They were doiing a Europeen tour.that,s finished now I am afraid.they did England, Ireland, Germany and Holland.they finished in england last Sunday as Headliners at download. It was for sure the best gig of the year!!!!
I cant believe i missed this performance even though i was there. But i was there to see fucken yoko ono sound like a cat in heat, she was awful!!!! I wanted to see Rage so fucken bad.
@PTurchan1 You know what? You can fucking have that small victory of yours. I am perfectly content with my "generalization" that cops aren't nice, or "chill", or even worth talking to. I can go to my grave with that generalization and never lose a night of sleep.
@wretchedspawn118 IMO, RATM aren't against the police or government per say. They are against the abuses, and corruption that run rampant in the system. The police by and large are working class people who are getting screwed just as bad as the rest of us by wall street bail outs, and the degradation of the social and economic reforms put in place many years ago.
They are. They are coming to Britain after they promised they would. They were the British number one record at Christmas 2009. It was a protest against Simon Cowell/Pop Idiol/x-Factor.
The British public protested and out-bought whatever dirge Simon Cowell was offering.
As a thankyou, Rage Against The MAchine are returning to Britain to play an as-yet unknown number of shows.

Police who are real and actually give a damn are great, and I'm sure Zack would agree
It's the riot police that fucked things up at G20 and the DNC and RNC and what not
THEY'RE the problem
Plenty of cops are nice people who agree with RATM and the anti partisan message, that's why they're on the force in the first place
But, as seen already, many cops revel in brutality, and they're the ones you should hate
