Ever seen a half-ton pickup unstuck a burried RV with a toy hauler on it. LOL good luck doing that with chains. Nothing beats a tractor or tugboat recovery strap/rope.
well, at least you kinda of knew what was gonna happen. I guess if the driver wants to risk his life, thats his business. A jacket or blanket on in would have helped, but chains are so heavy that I don't know how much it difference it would have made.
@CarlosCoy135 tell me about it. My dad was working constrution and they were moving a hunk of concrete when the chain snapped and hit a guy in the face. Broke his cheek bone and his eye popped out of his socked. They took some napkins and shoved his eye back in his head and taped it in til he got to the hospital. Chains are dangerous.
Stupid ass city people, you NEVER fucking stand near a chain like that. I have broke so many chains that are much higher rated and the dents all over my tailgate prove it.
You should use a really thick rope made to pull tractors.
Apparently you don't understand. Chains, like winches can snap and become extremely dangerous.
I normally use a 2 1'2 inch nylon tow strap to pull out tractors and trucks.
The point is yes its safer to use ropes, but if you are to use a winch or chains then you need to use them safely.
You should always put carpet, or a blanket over the winch or chains to keep them from coming up high enough to go through the rear window and kill the driver.
@Spywell a guy just died about a week ago out here where I live in WV from a winch snapping. I like to use canvas tow straps instead, but if you just run it around something and pull it back through the loop on the end, then you better pray it don't get wet, b/c if it does, u will never get it off. I carry a couple clevises with me, but I've still had to cut a couple off when I couldnt find em
@daBlade80 Winches can break as well, I havn't broken any winch line yet and there are many scenarios where the winch is the only tool capable of getting you out. Thing is, people just need to be smart about this stuff. I rode up on some guys winching a new ford out and they let me know they were winching before I came into the area. It surprised me because they were dumb enough to go into the meanest mud hole on the trail with a 4 door 4x4 F150 with low profile street tires lol morons.
@Spywell got a sled stuck in the ice on the shore. ski was under the ice and other on top. Strap snapped and dented the tailgate almost in half. Shit is too dangerous
Couple words ! " TOW STRAP " Some are rated higher in strength than chains and if it breaks you might get rope burn or a welt chain breaks you die.
