  • This Bob Penner guy is a dick.

  • @eminem4436 I watched the video and can't figure out what part about this guy is dickish?

  • @MoDeeSeventyThree Steve Pakin, probably the most modest and undertsanding of all talk-show hosts, basically told him to shut up.

  • @kristopheraugust Free market economics has it's benefits and thus has its place in society, but to rely on it as a means of providing for the general population is an over-estimation of its benefits. I'm of the opinion that the solution to most problems is somewhere in the middle of the right vs. left political/economic views.

  • @kristopheraugust The way in which I presented my "principle" is an over-simplification of my view on the subject, mainly because it was a response to your question about my principle, using an example. In looking at Milton Friedman and reading up on his views, I don't disagree with his view but I'm of the opinion that a singular view of any situation, economic or otherwise, is doomed to failure. To use my own example, search this channel for "Your Agenda Insight: Visceral Politics".

  • @kristopheraugust My principle is "Do the best you can for the most amount of people." If that's economically fascist, then I can live with that because it means that people should work for their own goals but also for the goals of helping other people as well in the best way possible. Historically, the system we currently have has been determined to be the best way to go about it. There are things that can be improved, but in general the principle is sound.

  • @kristopheraugust Because the health (largely in the non-medical sense) of a population is often reflected in how a society promotes and encourages creativity and innovation. Voluntary exchange can't be counted on exclusively to foster creativity and innovation any more than government taxation can because of the strings that are often attached. A public/private partnership in creativity is the best option for all involved.

  • we are fucked to say the least , 5 years stuck with Harper...I am actively thinking to leave this country ....

  • @kristopheraugust I didn't say that it was the proper role of government, the government has many roles to play in society. But the difference is that private charity most often comes with the promotion of an agenda that may not be in the best interest of the creative person who benefits from that charity. Government is big enough that it doesn't have to impose their agenda on creative people. The Conservatives will bring in the funds necessary for other parties to fund creativity, which is good

  • @kristopheraugust Of course it did, but in order to compete creatively in today's society, it's a necessary function.

  • Exactly what place does a public relations schill have on a news program? As much fun as it is to watch Bernie Morton spew talking point platitudes for an hour, I fail to see how his specific set of expertise are helpful for delineating a complex issue for the public. I guess this is the final betrayal of a feckless Canadian media that is no longer useful or relevant.

  • Quebec was not well addressed here. The NDP's sweep there is best explained by Duceppe himself: Quebeckers wanted to try something else. Francophones weren't displeased with the BQ, nor did they all become federalist. They simply voted for a social democratic party that would win more seats. As for Anglo Quebeckers, increasing numbers feel that the Liberals' past activities there are coming back to haunt them and that they suddenly have a another choice. The campaign made little difference.

  • Definitely an interesting debate. As a creative person I don't tend to favor the Conservatives but I think it's way too early to decide that they are going to destroy the country with a majority. At this point we're in a situation of "wait and see".
