  • Very helpful video!

  • this is great but you didnt show the end of this clip??

  • I have no idea how to connect the back to the front(to make it lay by the cheek?) how do I do that?!

  • I can't figure out how to connect the cheek rope part that you were doing at the very very end that you didn't show how to do. I am stuck! I have half a halter made and I am confused! Help!

  • At the end of his part you were connecting the rope to make the cheek part of the halter? How do I do that? I am confused! I have half a halter made and I can finish it until I know! Help!

  • @runningXfree I think that part got cut out but the knot is the same not used in other parts of the halter. You just need to look at a completed halter to reference.

  • Thanks for the videos!

Have made 3 with cheaper marine rope - am on my way to find nicer rope now that I've mastered the fiador!

  • man if i had had this tut 3 years ago, it would of made my life so much easier!! thankyou, good tut +like

  • so how much rope would you need to make one for a Clydesdales

  • @smallsbeef1

I'm not sure, I wouldn't think it would be more than a couple feet additional. You have to have a horse there and measure him with a soft tape measure. I've done that before.

  • Take a look at halter-making draft web sites. Many different perspectives on the fiador.

  • Fiador is a confusing knot.

  • where do you get the rope? I cannot find it ANYWHERE!!!!!

  • @6ataylor6

I find most of mine at a store called Cal Ranch, but almost any hardware store will carry what you need. It can be expensive. I would stay away from cotton which gets stiff quickly. Nylon is usually the best. If you can get rock climbing rope that's great but usually expensive.

  • @6ataylor6 Tractor Supply company usually has it. Gebos has it as well

  • @6ataylor6 I got mine at Lowes. I got the exact same rope as the man in this video is using. It was 100ft for $10. Its a poly. nylon diamond braid. When you go to cut it use something sharp. I think my dad used a type of electrical tool. But then burn the ends. If the ends are sharp use a hot match to burn it down slightly. I have cut my fingers like 6 or 7 times already and they are burning so bad right now. You can also get the rope at Home Depot or Tractor Supply Co. Good Luck!

  • Thousand thankyous !!!!!

  • @chelackie

  • stick with long or short rope, saying 'this and that rope" is hard to follow.

  • @muryana2000

  • Was the slip know on the long or short part of the rope ;;)???

  • Wonderful! Thanks very much. Even the double strand overhand knot seems easy this way....

  • @greetvelde Thanks

  • great instructions.. I finished making my own today.. but it was so small I couldn't even get it over the nose of my horse..

lol I'll just have to make it bigger next time!

    Thank you!

  • @milksack309 Yes it sometimes helps to have a finished halter there to compare with the one you're making and practice practice and more practice

  • Great video...just wondering if you could show the double overhands going from right to left over the noseband....I can tie them from left to right everywhere else but am having trouble reversing it....Thanks

  • @GMac373 All you have to do is flip the knot over and it's the same.

  • Thank you Thank you Thank You It took me 3 trys and now I,ve made 23 rope halters.Nice one's too. You made the fiador so easy. Thank You
