when its standing up the most important air vent is being blocked and the top of the 360 when its standing is the hardrive so there is hadrly no space for the air to come out, trust me i have a 360 too.

@IHUGHESI they mean the heat rises away from the fans because even though the xbox has holes there useless because the acctuall 360 motherboard is encased in metal, so all the heat rises away which makes it over heat...

that monitor was a Hannspree, bought in the UK for about £100, years ago.

your resolution you are talking about sounds like it is 4:3 so you will probably get letter boxing but could be wrong. If you can afford it, buy a cheap 16:9 (or 16:10) and just ensure the vertical pixel count is over 720

the vertical pixel count is what they go by

so if a monitors res is 1600 vertically then u would have 1600p display. way better than the best tv, which is 1080p

i'd assume it will go higher than 1024 height as it supports 1080p over VGA

never used a 3rd party one but i'd guess there's no difference apart from the look of it. Digital signal is digital signal... I bet side by side you'd never notice.

I actually prefer the VGA picture rather than the component picture of the 360. The component picture looks "burned out" paper like. It's hard to explain. I luv the fact that I can try different resolutions with the VGA--from 1024 X 768 to 1920 X 1080. WIth the component, it's only 1080i/p to 720p. Not to mention the component connection eats up too much screen.

The one in the video above has an output of 1280x900+, the xbox360 can output at the below res, meaning your current display is a little low for nice clean HD images.(if i was in your situation, i'd buy a 19" PC display with this sort of res and use your perfectly decent LCD for television as per usual in another room, or next to it :)

at a guess i'd say you'll have bars. I used it on an old monitor to test it when i first got it - it looked great but the bars kinda ruined it! If you can pick up a similar sized widescreen for cheap, i would.
