  • Are you really somewhere in the vicinity of eight feet tall, or does it just appear that way on camera? Great garden, btw. I bet those peas are gonna taste excellent.

  • Hey Sid, great job on your garden! Hope that you are well.

  • I love permaculture.. pioneering the future is a beautiful thing

    it really is the wholistic economics practice that will replace our collective economic debts to the fractional reserve bankers

  • Hello Sid,

    Since you have Cancer, have you ever heard about The Gerson Therapy? Check it out! I guess this therapy will help you out a lot!

    I have been growing my own food for about the last 20 years and the garden and contents have never looked so good with all this sun.

  • hey guys! lovely! friends that want to garden but don't have space might be into our site...we set up yard sharing groups so people can grow together...

  • Hello Sid, hope you are strong and well. Lovely garden. I have just bought loads of seeds, hoping to start my allotment off well this year. I have red onions, fir apples, purple brocc and french beans etc. Do you just plant them closer than the packet says for permaculture? Do you plant close because they stay moist and is it also to do with companion planting?

    Love F

  • This video is real great and beautiful to watch, extremely constructive. I am also a total garden freak, our garden grows pretty much wild. I'd love to do permaculture, it's needs real good care as I can see. It's great to see that the musicians one saw as highly inspirational in the youth, are still just as inspirational and progressive, etc.

  • Anyway this video tells you all about it phoenixtearsmovie[DOT]com/ or you cand find it in parts on youtube if you search Run From The Cure.

  • Sid i love your garden this is exactly what i want to do with mine. Have you thought about using hemp oil to help with your condition? Basically its an oil made from pure thc that you ingest orally or vaporize, I havent tried it myself so I cant say for certain but ive heard lots of people are getting good results. Apparently a recent Harvard study has shown its helped fight cancer

  • Inspiring garden Sid. Nice one.

    ttowndreamer, I'd only advise to use mulch in hot climates. In wet countries like the UK the benefit of using mulch is very much reduced as it provides cover for crop devouring creatures like slugs.

    Sid, you're probably already aware of this but you should watch The Beautiful Truth documentary: thebeautifultruthmovie [dot] com

    Stay strong and keep these videos coming : )

  • You could attach any type of trellis along your garden walls, to use your "up" space. grow your vines up the wall trellis instead of along the ground. that way, you can fit more into the space you have. also, you might want to consider protecting your soil with a mulch. Straw (not hay) or something like that. good luck!

  • Nice one Sid, I love your enthusiasm

    simonsallotment

  • you should make walkway not in the middle thats the prime sun space thats why rows closer to your center are nicer then their counterparts along the perimeter...food for though! nice stuff mate

  • @joneblaze82

    Thanks for the great advice, we will change it now its winter.

  • nice one Sid, looking forward to visiting!

  • Congratulations on transforming your yard and growing some great veg. Great job. Keep up the good work.

    It would be good to see your Permaculture Design drawings and information as to HOW you are claiming this IS Permaculture.

  • Modern permaculture is a system design tool. It is a way of:

    1: looking at a whole system or problem;

    2: observing how the parts relate;

    3: planning to mend sick systems by

    4: applying ideas learnt from long-term sustainable working systems;

    seeing connections between key parts.

    It appears that Sid has applied 1 - 4 by utilizing the paving slabs with efficacy, sustaining protection of the vegetation with the paving slabs, which were already a key part of the design.

  • There is no MODERN Permaculture. There are only DEFINITIONS of what Permaculture is.

    Permaculture is not a design tool, Permaculture is DESIGN. The only thing that is taught as Permaculture is Permaculture DESIGN.

    The ONLY difference between Permaculture and other growing is DESIGN.

    To claim something IS Permaculture is to have completed the 2 week PDC course and DESIGNED the project then be able to show with that design and explanations why it is Permaculture, prinicples and ethics

  • This garden IS an inspiring project and other people should do the same. I don't see any sign of Permaculture design in the video so I asked for additional information in the form of the designs and written explanations.

    My issue is not with the gardener, he is growing food. It is the overuse of the Permaculture label with which I have an issue and the fact that the link to this video was posted by Graham Burnett in Permaculture forums as a 'truly inspiring urban Permaculture project'

  • Permaculture in a Nutshell, suggests that there are now two strands of permaculture: Original and Design Design permaculture takes the working connections at use in an ecosystem and uses them as its basis. The end result may not look as "natural" as a forest garden, but still has an underlying design based on ecological principles. Through close observation of natural energies and flow patterns efficient design systems can be developed. This has become known as Natural Systems Design.

  • Brilliant - a great example of what can be done in a small urban space.

  • wow i love this ive been trying to do this for years!!!

    thank you so much!

  • Awesome vid Sid!
