The thing about Stanley that never ceases to amaze me is just how much he cares about the music, and how little he cares about the flashiness that we all know he has the ability to do. He wants to create melody, he wants to create emotion, he wants to make pieces that make your heart beat and your soul sing. I am in trouble.......I cannot even begin to comprehend what this man can do or how he does it. I saw him on television maybe 20yrs ago and he melted my mind. Hi Tim

I wish I had more knowledge about inexpensive guitars for tapping, because

I need to have a ready list in case people ask me. But I will say this,

most guitars will need fretwork to really get that action down. The

fretwork is almost more important than which guitar you get, but I'll say

a few things:

A hard neck and fingerboard helps. A soft material like maple is less

ideal because it will absorb the energy from tapping and so less will be

available to go to the string.

Also, jumbo frets will give you a richer warmer sound. Hard material frets

like nickel will give you a more sharp attack, but you may find that they

are too bright.

A guitar with a heavy body will tend to give a warm sound. So, for

example, a Les Paul may work better than a strat. Also, I prefer

humbuckers.
