  • I love Allegro Moderato!!! :)

  • The "andante meditativo" from 4:08 - 7:00 has to be my favorite musical thing in the whole world. Beautiful. Never get tired of it. Love the contrast between that and what comes after too.

  • Such a haunting piece of music, especially beginning around 4:15

  • I love this concert and movement. Best part starts here 1:06.

    No wait its 2:52.

    No wait its all beautiful!

  • Con l'Andante meditativo si raggiunge un altissimo livello immaginativo e visionario. Brava Martha!!!

  • What is the name of the waiter?, the one that wave his arms?

  • @Jimmyocaca Is this supposed to be a troll? If it's not, I think you're referring to the conductor.

  • metaphysical music and surrealist interpreter

  • OMG @ 2:25 BAD ASS!!!!!

  • Martha plays it with such clarity and control. Absolute command of this piece. The ease, grace and control with which she executes difficult passages always astounds me. Martha is the best! And she's still beautiful too.

  • This is probably my least favorite movement of the concerto, but it's still pretty dang awesome.

  • She is not human, lol!!

  • Nice aim at 8:00 :D

  • I just saw Lang Lang play this concerto tonight, i really enjoyed it, but i do find that Argerich's interpretation of this piece is much better.

  • I love that recurring theme; it's here 7:59 - 8:16 and in other parts too..

  • @EmceeLorder -- makes me think of gould "so you want to write a fugue" xD

  • From 2:10 to 2:17

What is the name of that Instrument?

    (Not piano)

  • @Croconesis2 -- it's probably a muted trumpet.

  • While listening, my imagination drifted to some fantasy land

  • There are some noices (i think it is a radio broadcasting) on the backgroud. it is really spoil the video...

  • What 2:07 is considered what type of music?

  • what do you mean?

  • its the background music of someone being chased by a group of tribal cannibals

  • What excellent hand-eye coordination Martha must have!!

  • I mean hand-eye-ear coordination...

  • I peeed my pants

  • She ( as a deep and real human beeing) playes and appears as a human beeing. I love you.,Martha! Thank you for the music.

  • That Hamburg Steinway sounds damn good! I am not big on American Steinways but the bass and singing tones in the treble are great.

  • i know! its probably the best sounding piano i've ever heard!

  • I study music at UCI. I was playing a recording of this concerto and my friend listening said that 4:10 - 7:10 was the scariest music he's heard.

  • tell your friend to go f himself

  • look up the black mass sonata

  • It sounds creepy definitely, with the hexatonic scale being used I think.

  • creepiest bit of music ever i think

  • Your friend should listen to the "Concerto fo Ondes Martinot and orchestra" by Andre' Jolivet. It's immensely scary, but almost impossible to find now. It's also an absolutely marvelous work. sanjosemike

  • why did those two people trade instruments at the end?

  • hmmm.,..i wonder why?

  • In some orchestras, if a string musician breaks a string during the performance, it's conventional to pass the instrument to the back and exchange it with the last player in the section. Either the last player sits out of the performance or they fix the string off stage.

  • @whit838 In one concert I attended, the soloist (Gil Shaham), a violinist, broke his E- string in the middle of a performance and swapped fiddles with the concertmaster..

  • ...whoa that's a scary situation to be in. Soloist and suddenly your string breaks.

Speaking of which, I've broken two of my piano teacher's strings in the past (once playing Liszt, once playing Shostakovich). Hope it doesn't happen to me; there will be no switching for me.

  • @whit838 And if you see closely at the very end the guy that trade it instrument to the girl in front of her, also exchange it to the girl at his right side... Mmm, I´ve always wonder that too... Sorry my english and the 1 year-later reply

  • the whole concerto is slower than previous performances i've noticed, and its awesome to see it isn't all just about blitzing through it as fast as she can. her playing in the last 10 yrs has gained SUCH expressiveness, it compliments the insanity technique for speed she has.

  • I agree, but I also think she has always been expressive and in touch with the sincerest emotions, but she always seems to be changing and evolving at the same time, for better or for worse, and exploring different sides of her. I've always liked her performances at any time, but I do especially like her recent performances alot!

  • oh definately yes, she's always been expressive, hence the reason she's won numerous competitions, there's always been something special, but it just shows what experience can do to enhance an already amazing artist.

  • wow.

  • She is in immense form in this perormance. and the orchestra has a big sound
