For those that don't know, the second half of this is an arrangement of 'Lacrymosa' from Verdi's Requiem; references to this are made throughout the whole album.

the requiem is amazing; everyone should listen to it. But I also love the arrangement of it on this album. Done so well. It's Michael Romeo that arranges SX's orchestral classical references isn't it?

on a different note, you also gotta love the references to JS Bach's Mass in B Minor from other albums as well. 'specially the intro to 'Divine wings of tragedy'.

imo its influenced by both  impressionism (Debussy etc; e.g. the scale/gamut) and early expressionism (Strawinsky; the poly-rhythmic elements for example)

You have no idea what you're talking about. Stravinsky never composed expressionist music, in fact he believed music couldn't express emotions at all. Expressionism would be early Berg and Schoenberg, which has nothing to do with this cheesy drivel thankfully. At least they chose to deface a part of the Requiem that's not by Mozart.

I hope everyone knows that from 2:15 onwards they're playing their own version of a Mozart piece and they didn't actually write that.
