The rebel flag is not a symbol of hate and racism. The Morill Tariff which was passed by Abraham Lincoln raised taxes in the south, and southerners paid 80% of the tax. While the rich northerners were paying the other 20% of the tax. The South was fighting for their own independence, not slavery. Slavery had not a single damn thing to do with the Civil War.

He refused to support it, saying..."South Carolina should remember the cause of her seceding". He was also disgusted by Southerners attempt to try and claim that it was Northerners who forced slavery on the South. For his candor...he received death threats from fellow Southerners.

First of all...The ONLY reason the US had slavery at all, was because the South refused to ratify the Constitution, unless provisions for its protection were included.
Second...The US banned the importation of slaves prior to 1810. So, legally operated slave ships didn't fly the US flag for long.
EVERY Northern state abolished slavery prior to 1810, INDEPENDENTLY of the Federal Union.

@luvinjc89 i observe black people around my place in England. they are normal and respectable people, most of them.i do door -to-door business so i can see them very close.i am in their houses sometimes.they dress their children nicely. their houses are clean. i cant remember when i saw the black person drunk. thats for the present. as for the past--why did Americans in 19 century buy black slaves? let them be in Africa. so today U would have only clever whites around.

@martpast1 I agree. Some blacks are very respectable and clean and neat. Most of them arent. Thats just hard facts...take it or leave it. Black slaves in 19th century America proves it...Most slaves in history have tried to free themselves, such as the hebrews in egypt from the Bible or the Indians here in north america. It took white's blood to be shed in the midst of a civil war to free the blacks.

The rest is a lie the war was over after Gettysburg. The south no longer had the ability to assault the north after that and began to lose territory extremely fast along with being pushed back in most battle despite less casualties.
