@haylosupastar yes car is car all over the world. Im American. If you soeak another language it is not car tho... Duh :) but she meant that cuz they have accents :)
Nope definitely not the same. Fruit drops (balls) were not just apricot flavoured rumballs! They were ball shaped apricot slice (the stuff u buy from health section in cubes with coconut around the edges). They were smooth all way through & no crunchy rumball type bits!
These look like fruit drops that EVERYONE in Australia had at their primary school canteen!! Some schools called them fruit balls. Stupid thing is, they weren't fruit, they were all just apricot, so they shouldve been called apricot balls. How big are they? The ones at school were a bit smaller than a marble.
@OnePotChefShow Yea.. I've found that it's not too sweet at all! i actually like to put a little bit more condensed milk in this recipe because my friends love the milky quality of them... :).
P.s. Love your videos! Your recipes/presentation are very clear and simple, makes a geek like me seem like he can cook haha
I like your recipes they are awesome..."last time I did a balls video, in your hands you will roll them up into tight little balls ha ha ha... Hey you said it.
please when will you make real true yummy lemontons? remember pure chocolate spunge.. not the just boring nothing in the spunge.. actually how about strawberry jam? make strawberry jam and then put it inside the spunge before making a deliciouse yummy pure 100% laminton. Not the boring lamintons u see in quick stores.
My wife loves Apricot... Im going to go down the shops today and get what I need to make this. Might be able to get a root tonight thanks to the One Pot Chief
@xoxoEquinebond You really should chop them up a bit (or cut them up with kitchen scissors) as it makes it easier to process them into the mixture. Large chunks are harder to mix, making the dough lumpy :)
:O ! My mom used to buy these for me in the supermarket when I was three or four. They weren't balls but logs, and they came in many different colours and flavours but the base was the same...it was what I got instead of candy. They discontinued them and I have thought about them every year since then...i'm 20 now. So...in much shorter words... THANK YOU!!!!!
@ProSkilllz As in the french pastry? If so, I'll have to say no :(
I am lousy at making that kind of pastry - I've tried several times and it always comes out inedible! If I find a quick, easy version - I'll see what I can do ;)
@gezzaky I'm not sure that would work, you really need the dried apricots to make the mixture stick together properly. You can give it a go if you like, but I can't guarantee anything ;)
My auntie used to make these whenever she visited back in my Melbourne days. I seriously miss them (and auntie Elle as well, of course) lots since moving back to the states. Thanks, David, for showing me how to make them.
Just as you said, "Giggle, giggle, giggle" I was in fact giggling...how immature am I? LOL But you've introduced me to something new, would love to give these a try when I invest in a food processor :) Thanks David and your balls look damn tasty haha! :D
Wow I have never thought of this before, I have only made chocolate balls but never thought of balls with apricot in. You are a genius! I have to try this sometime :D Take care!
@alleunamme978 No, I said in the intro this was once marketed as a healthy snack, back in the days when anything with fruit in it was considered "healthy" :P
you eating it makes me want to eat it also, lol...but can you substitute the coconut with something else? i don't like eating anything with coconut on it. thanks.
lovely litte recipe! thanks for another gem! I suppose a vanilla wafer cookie would be good for those of us in the USA (to address katharineeee's question).
These look delish! Have you ever made these with any other types of dried fruits? I'm not familiar with Nice cookies either (in USA here). What might be the equivalent over here?
@katharineeee You can use any plain sweet cookies for this recipe. I'm not familiar with American cookie brands, but I'm sure someone from the US will read this and tell us a local equivalent ;)
@OnePotChefShow Like @jasonsteel suggested, maybe graham crackers would be good. I also seem to remember now a local grocery store here carrying a store brand cookie that is coconut flavored, no icing or anything else on it. Thinking if I can find that one again it would be similar to the Nice brand. Thanks!
I was laughing when you said 'tight little balls' and then you said 'giggle giggle giggle' that made me laugh even more

Whats the difference between a food processor and a blender?
any alternative to condensed milk?
FloatnFlow 1 year ago
@FloatnFlow A blender is for mixing liquid or semi-liquid foods. A Food Processor is a stronger device for mixing more soild items ;)
In this recipe, Condensed Milk is essential and cannot be substituted.
