This was one of the last great Kiss albums. When I look back at thier catalog, I would say that after 1978, they started exploring and it was rough for a while. Then they came back with Creatures and then the make-up came off and they had a solid run.
are you joking man.........exsept for lick it up all of the rest of the albums sucked big time .....i remeber waiting to buy the next kiss album and hearing interviews from gene that this is the brother of destroure and the albums were shit............revenge was the come back
there is a BIG difference between the two. I like some of the songs VH produced with cherone (Without You, Fire In The Hole) but this era of KISS brought many KISS Klassics, and some great albums. Im a huge KISS fan and I believe that this era of the band is brilliant. I think musically the line up of carr and kulick might be their best ever. So I'm just saying comparing Gary Cherone to Carr and Kulick is not fair at all
love this song, bruce's solo is awesome.grew up a kiss fan in the 80s,and if you are a true fan you know it wasnt the kool thing to be a kiss fan then.i wore my kiss asylum t shirt to school a many a day.
Whats up with the bullshit basically kiss tribute band. ITS GENE AND PAUL! Ace is doing his thing and we get new albums by both and chances to see them live. People are stupid
why the fuck did this have 4 thumbs down? The line-up rules Eric can drum 100 times better than Peter and Tommy is great at playing...he's no Ace but he can still play.
I agree Kiss is the best they have ever been with Tommy and Eric. Its ace s own fault he couldn't stay off the shit that made him crazy! Not Genes! Not Pauls! Kiss will tear any new bands ass out of the water!
wasnt tommy the assistant of gene but not a member. Also i am quite sure he was aces guitar tech for the reuinon tour. I found his name in a KISS brochure thing at a concert in 1996 to 98 tours.
@corvettemustang1 god i feel sorry for ace. Getting replaced by the guitar tech. Well Kiss is behind him now. He has a better album, and he is touring my country in feburary.
@poolpig Actually, he wasn't. He was the bands personal assistant, but not a guitar tech. He performed many tasks for the band including but not limited to painting Paul's house and cleaning Gene's gutters. But, again, he wasn't a guitar tech for Bruce, Paul or Ace.
well, Eric started with paul in 89', with KISS 91' and Tommy in with band from late 80, he wrote songs, play some guitar parts and stuffs, so its just on you how do you count it :)
KISS returned to Columbia, SC after a 6&half year absence (Dynasty '79) for the Asylum Tour. They didn't come to Cola for Lick it up or Animalize. I don't know why. I thought Cola was a favorite stop. Black 'N' Blue opened. Whiteface opened in 79. Anybody remember them?
Yes. I believe their current Ace imposter, Tommy Thayer, was in Black'N'Blue then. Never heard of Whiteface. Lick It Up was not a very successful tour, and I know they played Charlotte and Greenboro for Animalize. They may have also played Fayetteville, NC too. My first KISS show was Crazy Nights at the "real" Charlotte Coliseum, Sunday, February 7th, 1988. I wouldn't pay to see them now. It's basically a KISS tribute band.
Whiteface was out of Atlanta. They had an LP on Mercury. There were some bands from Atlanta around that time like Atlanta Rhythm Section and Mother's Finest. Whiteface never really got any national airplay plus their LP was never really promoted. I guess they were big in Atlanta, but never caught on anywhere else. I saw Crazy Nights in January 1988 at The Scope in Norfolk, VA. Ted Nugent opened.
well i've been a kiss fan since 76 and i also think kiss had great songs in the 80s. i remember hearing tears are falling on the radio first time in 1985.man those days we're great i really miss the 80s.
and to be honest, I feel sad that we never came to know how their career and music developed if there never had been a reunion. I have a feeling we lost some good songs to come.
One of my fav KISS songs ever. Eric Carr was my inspiration to learn how to play drums as much as Paul Stanley was inspiration to sing (even though I suck at singing).
This was a great tour musically for KISS. It really was a turning point for the band as they started to come together as a foursome again....Eric Carr was an amazing drummer...RIP Eric!
I was only 1 year old in 1986, but I was born to listen to KISS!!

Asylum is my favourite KISS album, its brilliant, very underrated. Non makeup KISS was the best, best lineup Carr and Kulick!!
Musically they were brillioant without the makeup, experementing with different styles of music.
