  • Have u ever taken into account that ya doctor is pulling the wool ova ya eyes to make more money. A doctor can say any bs and we just believe them. You probable didn't get a second opinion and there's a good chance that theirs nothing wrong with u other than believing the money hungry docs lies.I have a doc in my family and he has a little saying that goes like this---1 3rd of what u eat keeps u alive, the other 2 3rds keeps me alive.

  • It's not the tanning bed, it's your nasty videos on here of you laying in the sun ALL DAY that cause this.....

  • @TabethaAndersen - clearly your opinion of me is not favorable. hhahahahaa but- hey- you are entitled to your opinion.- but for the record & on subject- my videos of me laying in the sun only take 15 mins to film. The Tanning beds I used 15 years ago (while trying to spare my neighbors of my bikini being seen at the pool) did indeed cause numerous pre-cancerous cells which needed to be removed & this video along with the one from the surgery is a reminder of WHY one needs to avoid tanning beds

  • @akamissrubytuesday -Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about......you laying in the sun for 15 minutes is not the cause of pre-cancerous cells... Not to mention since you are older, you probably used baby oil and a bunch of other products that do not help form these cells.

  • @TabethaAndersen - obviously you have issues with me... but- the fact is- I didn't say my current laying in the sun for 15 mins while filming the videos for youtube led to my pre-cancerous cells- the video clearly shows what transpired due to using tanning beds 15 years ago. - oh- & I've never used baby oil to tan with - though- I have been known to wrestle in it.

  • @akamissrubytuesday - No issue with you personally, just false facts. You laying in the sun for 15 mins IS a big issue with pre-cancerous cells... don't give tanning beds a bad name with information you do not know.

  • @TabethaAndersen you DO have an issue with me or else you wouldn't have stated in your first contact comment- "It's not the tanning beds, it's your nasty videos on here of you laying in the sun ALL DAY that cause this..." - I'm not the only person who is shedding light on the dangers of tanning beds- just ask any certified derm. or- feel free to go dispute the dangers with the 1000 or so other youtubers with the same arguement.

  • @akamissrubytuesday - I don't need to ask a dermatologist. . I am a certified tanning consultant, Yes tanning beds are dangerous- IF you don't know how to use them. Just like the sun, the sun is dangerous IF you do not take proper precautions. Tanning in a tanning bed is in a controlled environment and with help from a certified consultant is very good for you. I have nothing more to say to you.

  • @TabethaAndersen hhahahahaha now your seriously making me laugh- please don't assume that an online degree to become a "certified tanning consultant" even competes with the years of schooling that an Dermatologist entails. - The 50 states that now REQUIRE all tanning salons that is in operation to take the online course is due to the findings of the connection between tanning salons & skin cancer- that the Dermatology field which is licensed by the medical board discovered.

  • @akamissrubytuesday -You do not need to avoid tanning beds, being outside IN THE SUN is the same as being in a tanning bed. You need to use the same precautions in the sun as you do in a tanning bed, Moderation is key, which clearly I can tell you did not do!

  • @TabethaAndersen this is my last response to you- Bottomline- is... TANNING BEDS ARE DANGEROUS & in no way can be compared to the real sun (which is good for you as it will help in your defense against illnesses such as the flu) - Moderation is the key to ANYTHING & EVERYTHING. I made this video to serve as proof of the damage tanning beds can actually cause- Had I seen a video like this 15 years ago- I wouldn't have believed the sales pitch of "Tanning beds are safer than real sun"

  • Respond to this video... ALSO- your face and chest are one of the most exposed (to the sun) spots on your body- that's why you have pre-cancerous cells Mainly there..

  • If it is the tanning beds that caused the damage, why are the blemishes all in areas that are only exposed to real sunlight? (ie chest, face, legs. If you only had blemishes on the tender areas that tanning beds affect, that would indicate that tanning beds caused the damage. As it is, it looks like you just made a history of too much everything. Like you said on your video but cannot grasp it, the areas that only saw light from tanning beds does not show any problems.

  • @aznprswzn91 Hi- The pre-cancerous cells that needed to be burned or cut off is only on the areas that were exposed in the tanning bed- I've never had to have any removals on the areas that was covered by my bikini. - The damage didn't show up until 15 years after I quit using tanning beds. - In the beginning my doc would remove on the average of 12-20 areas every 3 months- He now only needs to remove 1 or 2 every 3 months. Tanning Beds are not good for you- despite the claim of being safe.

  • you have a wedding ring

  • @kevinchea1993 - thats my right hand- & not a wedding ring. ; hahahahahahah

  • That doesn't look like an occasional visit to a tanning salon, that looks like many years if tanning bed use. Getting a tan for a special events is fine but tanning 4-5 times a week is abusing it.

  • @fatdudewh33lchair - I havn't been in a tanning bed in over 15 years... & yes- I was going 3-4 times a week for 15 mins a session- and- at the time all the salons were singing the same tune- "its safe"- "its better for you than real sun". The damage didn't surface until 3 years ago. Kinda like anything that is bad for you- you learn only after you learn.

  • Awwww<3 I wish you didn't have to go through this. Thank you for helping other people though. You're so sweet.

  • The sun right now is more dangerous than ever. We need to wear sunglasses and sunscreen. Yes the self tanners are great nowdays! They arent orange anymore. lol I recommend them also. I have irish skin too and gave up on the tanning because its us especially who get damage. Great advice, great video to share this with others! <3

  • Yeah, but tanning beds are so addictive. I do 10 minutes every other day at the gym. Really improve your mood. BTW I know how you feel, I have 100+ beauty marks I have to monitor. Yeah, those husbands can be jealous!!!

  • You`re so pretty & free spirited , keep making videos!

  • drop the towel. lol

  • how many times did you go there?

  • wow.. thank you so much for posting this. ive always wanted to try out a tanning bed and now i will never go into a tanning bed!!

  • i was JUST considering going to tanning beds, or tan in the sun, THANKYOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for this video :) VERY HELPFUL. you look smokin btw :)

  • Thank you so much I was considering doing the stand up tanning only cuz they offer it free at my gym! I will stick to my old method of L'Oreal tanning wipes ....Thank you God Bless <3

  • you are such a pretty lady i am sorry about what u have to go through i am 15 years old and i go tanning about 5 times a week i wanna stay away from tanning but i cant i love every thig about being tan fml

  • how much did you go tanning ?

  • You're beautiful

Love your video and it's really helpful

  • What a minute ! At your age you haven't met Mr. Right ?The problem is in you. You've probably passed on many Mr. Rights but your too picky. Look at what you do on your video's.Your not going to find a good man,Mr. Right by acting like you do.All you are going to do is attract men who really don't respect women.I'm not saying you have to be "The Church Lady" either, but dress your age, just because you have the body of a 25 year old doesn't mean anything. It's who you are inside.Try acting your age !

  • @demmylowther ... The reason I havn't met "Mr. Right" isn't due to the way I dress... (and if that were the reason- then I chose the perfect "shield of armour") or because I'm too "Picky"... all a man has to do is be single & enjoy dancing... and accept me as I am... I don't have to "act my age" or "dress my age"- I've been a single mom for over 32 years... by choice. Life has been good! - & for the record - I would rather remain single than settle for a man who is intimidated by my flaws...

  • @demmylowther

You look great and it is great that you take the time to do these warning videos. I have also been in tanning beds for years. I also worked at a tanning salon in my younger days & I have seen the effects of tanning. I have some questionable spots on my body that I need to get checked. If people don`t want to listen that is their choice but they shouldn`t hate on you. Have fun living the single life & God bless you.

  • @demmylowther lmao fuck off, she looks amazingly sexy, shes a free fun spirit, let people be

  • @sonjalasky - thanks for your imput.... sorry- but- I'm not gonna quit making videos just because you don't like them- ... clearly no one is forcing you to view them- Yes- I am in my mid 50's... & yes my body reflects my age... after years of being a wrestler & a dancer- but- I don't drink ... with the exception of Halloween, My Bday & NYE.... & indeed- I will continue to go dancing on the weekends... because after enduring complete Bi-Lateral Hip replacement... I can. ;-D

  • @akamissrubytuesday i actually think you look great for your mid 50s :) you go girl

  • It's wonderful that you are teaching people about the dangerous effects of tanning!

  • @DrPetersonPhD - well hopefully this vid & my other one (The Dangers Of Tanning Salons)- which shows my removal of a squamous cell from my chest will be enough to convince others that indeed- long after the tan fades... the damage remains.

  • Hello, I want to thank you for this video! Its good to hear it from a real person and not a document. thank you thank you thank you. and you are so gorgeous by the way!

  • @tooieterdpounder123 .... your welcome... & ... thank you. ;-D

  • They had tanning beds in the stone age? HAHA just kidding with you. This video is grotesque. Air conditioning causes cancer? Probably the air conditioning in the mall, jeez I dont even want to think what is in those vents!

  • @johnlovesbridge "Stone Age" ajhahahahah that was funny. ;-D

  • Great advice, Hon. Thanks!

    I hope you're well now.

  • @Tengobaila .... I see him every three months to ensure any pre-cancerous cells are removed before they turn into a cancer.... fortunately- of all the cancers out there- skin is the easiest to remove provided it is caught early. One thing is certain- people need to know the dangers of tanning beds & they need to not be shy about seeing a skin Dr. who is trained in detecting the freckles from the pre-cancerous cells.

  • @akamissrubytuesday

That's great that you are creating more awareness about the harmful effects of tanning. I was fortunate enough to have a dad who taught me to protect myself from the sun.

I think you might find this book informative: The One-Minute Cure, by Madison Cavanaugh.

    Stay well,

    Diana

  • Hey I ran into this video again and was wondering, If you SUN tan for like 30-40mins will it hurt you?

  • You CAN go to a tanning bed but you need to go in moderation. I am smart tan certified and have done lots of research through the years. If you tan in moderation and use good quality skin care lotions, etc, then you will be fine. Skin cancer comes from LOTS of different factors like overuse of a bed, family history, lalalala. You get tons of vitaminn D and it clears acne. Just don't go more than 3 times a week and remember to take long breaks.

  • @savisneat - I only went 3-4 times a week for 10- 20 mins max... during the summer months & ALWAYS used quality lotion$ - & my family has NO history of skin cancer or any other cancers.... so- I'm sorry to have to reveal that indeed Tanning beds are dangerous- mainly due to the lightbulbs which shed into fragments & get under your skin as the fan blows.- & for the record - Air Condtioning is one of the biggest cancer contributors- due to what blows on you.. & what you inhale from it.

  • omg this is scary, but really great advice. Thanks.

  • @MsSarita08 - your welcome.... I also just uploaded a vid from last weeks visit to the skin Dr.... I needed to have a lil minor surgery this last visit- I get my stitches out on Monday... the video is below this one- "Miss Ruby Tuesday- The Danger Of Tanning Salons... be warned- it is graphic.

  • Sorry you have to endure this, you are so strong!

  • by lookig at your skin your a skin type 1 - you shouldnt have been tanning anyway.

  • @columbo169 - yeh.... Spanish/Irish skin is tuff but it reveals EVERYTHING it has ever endured... hahhahaaha

  • please answer.

how long did you tan for?

how many times did you tan?

& is it safe just to tan for a week ?

  • @llxll42 - Hi... I did it 15 mins a day about 4 to 5 days a week- for about 3 years straight.... & since I'm NOT a Dr. I can't state whether or not it is safe... but I will say- give a dermetologist a call... & he will tell you... IF you burn at all... odds are good... he will be needing to burn it off later.... about 10 years later.

  • @akamissrubytuesday

thanks for answering and i think i change my mind about tanning beds

    i'll just use the lotion.

thanks!:) and i hope you feel better.

  • @llxll42 - your welcome... & yeh- lotion is a much safer way to go... just mix & match / alternate the products so it looks more natural & don't be afraid to lay in the real sun about 20 mins a week to blend the color perfectly.... real sun is waaaaaaaay better than the tanning salon. ;-D

  • why is your youtube name the same name as a restaurant chain

  • @n11lc - A better question would be... why does a restraunt name themselves after me????? - I''ve had my name for over 51 years.... hahhahahahah

  • Comment removed

  • @alex12295

dude,, don't tan then .. i do it but your not gonna get cancer by doing 15 mins once a week. i do 20 mins 3 times a week or less. just know when to stop. it can't get an addiction, even though it is SOOO nice to get all warm :)

  • @KimBa026 lets see if you saying that 20 years from now

  • @KimBa026 you're an idiot

  • Thank you so much for making this video.

  • thankyou for this.

  • @LadiGlori - your welcome... ;-D

  • how often did you go to the tanning places?

  • @billysandsquirrel - I used to go 3-4 times a week for about 12-15 mins a session.... The reason Tanning beds are sooooo bad for you is because your subjected to Beylurium poisoning from the bulbs as the fan is blowing.... and because it also tans 3-4 layers of the skin- hence damaging the skin below the surface. I havn't been to a salon in over 10 years- but will neen to see a derm for the rest of my life.- he lets me lay out in real sun for 30 mins a week... as vitamin D is good for you.

  • 3-4????? thats alot... im sorry but thats alot. but you still look great in my opinion! you have very pretty eyes, and yu have a good sence of humor, if my comment earlier seemed negative i apoligize. (:

  • @billysandsquirrel - No need to apologize- I'm not offended by questions- & yeh... it was alot... but- it wasn't due to addiction to tanning as much as it was- I enjoyed the relaxation aspect of it... thats what seduces you into going as often as you can....

Currently I'm sporting my winter skin.... ultra white! hahahaahahaa

I do love laying in the sun... - I love heat...

& on my bed - I sleep under 2 comforters, 2 blankets & 2 sheets - (Could be why I'm still single hahhahahaa)

  • also, endorphins are released too that make you happy, and it makes tanning addicting! argh! lol

  • how is the tanning bed worse than sun?

  • coz it's un-natural and i think its radio active and yeah it tries to tan you faster than normal sun would i think. not sure though, maybe go look it up

  • idk... i think cuz its closer to you

  • Looks Like you had Severe Sun Burn Outdoors to.

  • :(((

  • thanks for the video.YAH it is SOOO scary that the UVA rays tan like 3 layers of skin! That is just sooo weird...and creepy its like tanning ur insides.

Well you seem really positive and funny :) I hope you dont get any more skin cancer and I 'll try to not use a tanning bed, even though I was going to try one, b/c I HAVE HORRIBLE tan lines..eeek...I guess tanning naked outside is the only option. Lol.

  • geez how often did you go to the tanning beds? like a lot huh..? i thinkif u go a lot its bad, but if you go like once a month it isnt

  • @littleflowwer i know right!! everyone keeps saying they are terriable, but they arent if you dont over do it!

  • actually i changed my mind.

i'm sure you wouldn't have great skin damage but everyone's skin is different and you just cant tell when you're dna is going to mutate(skin cancer).

  • Hey I was thinking about going to a tanning bed.

    But maybe not now.

    Is spray tan dangerous?

  • @chandler907- Never did a spray tan soooooo don't know anything about them- I use the rub on lotion after gettingout of the shower....... it seems to work pretty good....

  • @chandler907 no, but they suck.

  • Comment removed

  • well I go tanning everyday sometimes twice a day and lately my sk8in has not been happy its actualy painful to get in the beds now so i made a doc apoinment, after seeing your vid im super nervous skin cancer runs in my family big time =(

  • @LoVe14BuGbabY- well... on a possitive note- skin cancers are easily dealt with- provided- they are dealt with early... give yourself a pre-test.... run your fingers along the parts that concern you- if you feel some rough edges that are sensitive to the touch (sting a bit)- then- odds are good- they need to be burned off.... in the meantime- quit going to the tanning beds & give your skin a break.... Good luck & just remember- the sooner you deal with it- the better off you are.

  • Thanks hopefully my skin is just being sensative and nothing more but my apt is in a few days so we will see

  • @LoVe14BuGbAbY I own a salon and I would not let you tan twice a day. You need to keep your skin really moist.

  • @ garciamariaa1 - I do have lots of scars from surgeries... there isn't really any cream that can fade... but if you use lotion daily - it will soften the look of the scar. ;-D

  • I'm sorry you have to go through that no one deserves it...hope everything turns out okayy...and your so pretty lol if i look half as good as you at 50 i will be happy ;]

  • @LoVe14BuGbAby - Hi ... Thanks for the compliment! ;-D.... yeh- everything is doing fine- thanks to my skin doc! - I made this vid- in hopes of warning others to see the skin doc @ least once a year & to abstain from tanning beds... the removal of the damage is not only expensive... but painful.

  • real sun is just as bad as tanning in a salon :/

  • I didn't know that tan goes off over time. Really.

And how is the tanning bed worse than sun? Perhaps tanning beds 15 years ago did not have the same spectrum standards they do now.

  • Hi "RainyMarch"- my Dr. hasn't mentioned anything about RE: Mohs surgery- he just keeps burning and/or cutting my pre-cancerous cells off every 6 months... so not sure what to tell ya there- except do what the your Dr. suggest since he obviously knows what you need to have done.... Good Luck with it... & feel free to check back in and let me know how it turned out.... better yet- grab a camcorder & make a vid of it. ;->

  • Thanks for posting the good advice. Have you ever had Mohs surgery? I guess all your cancers are Basal cell carcinomas? I have had 3 Basals on my face, so far, and now need to get Mohn surgery on my EYELID!! I'm terrified and sad about it. I did get out in the sun w/no protection YEARS AGO and am paying for it now. Thanks for your great video. You seem a charming person.

  • BTW Actually if you meet Mr. Right during the 10 days when you have red spots all over.... all the better! You know for sure he likes you for you! lol

There's always got to be one neighbor in an apartment complex that likes to run around naked. In my complex, she's right across the hall. And she doesn't have the body for it. One day I got mad when I saw her out in the hallway in her underwear, told her she was nasty, and haven't seen her w/out pants since. lmao Maybe that was mean.

  • "Miss You Much" by Janet in the car... sweet. :-) I taught myself that little dance when I was 10. That one she did in her video. That's the extent of MY dancing ability. It's weird, I can sing, I can play piano.... but I dance like the whitest person you've never seen. And I'm only 1/4 white.

  • @tygersflowerz- Hi! ;-> Yeh- gotta love Janet- that is from her "Best of" CD... it's one of the reasons I can't find a guy to dance with me.... they all complain That I dance like Janet. hahhahahaa

  • how often did u go to the tanning bed? how did u know that they were pre cancer cells? did u have symptoms ..

    moles?

  • Hi "jaYnEsAyZ" I used 2 go for 20 mins... 3-4 days a week & that was almost 15 years ago-

About 2 years ago- I started noticing new spots that didn't look like my freckles (they would start off red then they went grey & were a bit raised- Some would be tender to the touch)

Fortunately- skin cancers are easily removed if it is observed early-

    Currently-

it is one of the most common cancers due 2 the elements we entail-

Just check with a Dermatologist- they know what 2 look for. ;->

  • thnx ruby- this is really a good video- i think im going to be using the fake tanning spray from now on!

take care of yourself pretty lady : )

  • @ JaYnEsAyZ... yeh- go with the rub on tan... it works...

I should be looking normal by next week-

& then I plan on making a vid w/ youtubes' "Audio Copyright Claims" dilemma in mind....

(they keep telling me- my radio in the background is a copyright problem)

I came up with the perfect solution & I think you will get a chuckle out of it...

    I know I will. ;->

  • hi ruby........nice to see you again

  • Hi Tavisho... ;->
