Why is it when we fight for somebody else's country they call us heroes, but if we fight for our own they call us racists and fascists? Send the 'asylum' (parasites) seekers home. Spend their benefits (at present £150 billion a year) on the armed forces and their families. If anyone wants a passport, 25 years in the British Army with exemplary service should secure it. Nothing else. Those who want immigration can pay for it. 'Sponsor an immigrant'. Ex Para voting BNP and proud. All the way.
I doubt there is anyone still in the Parachute Regiment today who was in it 38 years ago, let alone anyone still in who actually took part in the incident. Yes, it was a disgraceful incident. But most regiments in most armies of the world will have something from their some point in history to blacken their name. War is a nasty buisness.

@5119873 what about the omagh bomings! It takes very brave men to blow up over 20 men women and children ! Well done paras u do a great job! Up the British army!
It was stated this week that the Army is now the Senior Service, not the Navy.
85% of SAS troops are Para/Airborne.
The British Army's Parachute Regiment are the Elite troops, and Special Forces. 1 Para form the backbone of SFSG, (Special Forces Support Group).
Royal Marines are Naval Soldiers, with Commando training. They also have a Special Forces arm in the SBS. However, the RM do not have a battlion of Special Forces troops, whereas 1 Para are classed as special forces.
para reg best regiment in the armd forces..bring on herrick 13 2 and 3 para going 2 do wht the do best in the stan! best infantry soldiers the armd forces have 2 offer

Although i think 40 assault group royal artillery were thinking about doing sea/beach assaults but i don't know if they went ahead with it.
no doubt the paras are tough but the reason the marines are regarded as tougher is because they are commandos. Meaning they specialise in everything from mountain and aritic warfare to sea assaults, para/air assault, bio/chemical warfare etc.... they even have rmc officers becoming fast jet pilots for the royal navys air fleet.

You'll tend to find the Marines go to lesser known Special Boat Service, operated along side SAS in the falklands conflict. Both excellent groups. For bananaman and dreg discussion.
SAS are supported by different types of groups, RAF regiment, Paras and Marines.
The new Special forces support group is made up of people from all three branchs which now support both SAS and SBS.
Paras and Marines operate in different areas but paras don't get used for that role these days.
You shouldn't rule out the other regiments. just because the paras get the most media, movies and books they get alot of publicity to make them sound badarse, alot of them would say that then again you ask any soldier who the best are and they will state their regiment. I've had brothers in green howards, royal engineers and royal dragoon gaurds who's left and going to join royal signal corps, myself I'm joining the RAF reg. join the regiment thats suited to you and offers what you want.
personally I recommend looking into all the regiments that you may want to join for the role you want, what skills you can get out of it and yet still enjoy it. some roles require good qaulifications you may or may not have.
Paras are good but their role has gone, it's too dangerous to use them as paras in afghan or iraq so they're reduced to being used as a normal infantry regiment shipped in via chinooks like most forces. who knows when they will be doing the role they were created for again
I hear what your saying pants. Lets remember that parachutes are just a means of transport. Its what the infantryman does on the ground that counts and let me assure you, there is nothing "normal" about paratroopers. They are in fact, men apart.
I would strongly disagree, they're good. however you have to understand they have had more chances to prove themselves then any other regiment since their founding.
Any soldier in the british forces be it the RAF reg, paras, marines, infantry etc, can be ''men apart''. the ultimate training is for the end results to operate in combat effectivly. we're all human, we're not super hereos, Same for SAS and SBS, they're good at what they do but it's due to fitness which we all can attain.
SAS and SBS were at the beginning one force.. during the early stages of Special forces during the african campaigns!.
SAS and SBS are equal although SBS are much more unknown to that of SAS which were thrown into the lime light during the iranian embassy.
No one is the bloody best, I'm sick of you civvies claiming that one is better then the other. they're the best collectively as a whole. all different roles.
I was thinking about joinin the rock apes, but I'm not too sure. It'll be the Royal Irish or RAF Reg if I go down the combat route though. Any advice? What's it like in the RAF Reg?
Cheers for the compliment and congratulations on your entry mate; best of luck at Harrogate & Catterick, most importantly stay safe on any tours you're on. Good luck lad.
the marines do some of unarmed combat in training. we got taught the basics but yano... the things they teach yas lads isnt really practical at all... we thought it was quite pointless like. if ya in a situation wer ya have to do that... ya gonna just do what ya can an kill the cunt on top of ya soo... i wouldnt join a regiment or whatever for tha... think deep aba what ye goin into lads
Yeah I heard they teach you to try and kick em in the bollocks and get to a gun ASAP to finish em off! As you said definitely don't join a regiment for unarmed combat training; join the one you're best suited for and you take pride in most.
As for your question, don't hold me to this; but I'm pretty certain the Royal Marines get taught hand-to-hand combat in their commando training. Not sure about the paras.. Obviously the likes of the SBS & SAS are heavily taught unarmed combat, but you wouldn't be joining them at the start of your career. I would go to an AFCO and ask them about it mate. Best of luck.
no, i got H3 for my hearing test, i saw a specialist and he said "there's no way your ears are going to increase" if i d re-apply for the army and pass i'll just ed up getting medicaly disscharged again
i was in the duke of lancs before i transferd, the NCO's threw grenades ect ect after a lesson, which didn't give us enough time to put on our ear defence because we had to do our patrole so it's gone worse since i've been in there
Good luck mate, I really hope you get to where you want to be. A little advice, although I'm sure you know it yourself; when you think you're done and can't go any further, dig deep, and push it that little bit farther. I've used that advice many times when doing fitness training and tests, and it's always done me well. Stay safe & good luck mate, all the best.
I haven't done that specific interview, but I'm in the Air Training Corps and we often do interviews with the RAF, so it would probably be similar. I'd say common Q's would be: Why do you want to join the Army? What branch are you interested in (combat, logistics, etc.)? How fit are you? Are you a good leader? Maybe what qualifications you've got, work experience, etc.
Don't worry too much, they're usually very professional and helpful, so just be yourself and answer honestly.
just got back from the interview and it went really well, instead of waiting for my 2nd interview and key skills thing for mounths they did it all in 1 day, and now im going to germany in september =].

58% of people you are in the sas have been in the paras, but doesn't mean marines don't get through (:
lukeseandavies 3 years ago
You'll tend to find the Marines go to lesser known Special Boat Service, operated along side SAS in the falklands conflict. Both excellent groups. For bananaman and dreg discussion.
SAS are supported by different types of groups, RAF regiment, Paras and Marines.
The new Special forces support group is made up of people from all three branchs which now support both SAS and SBS.
Paras and Marines operate in different areas but paras don't get used for that role these days.
pantsareonfire 3 years ago
ah thank you with all the new info tah for that going for paras (y)
lukeseandavies 3 years ago
You shouldn't rule out the other regiments. just because the paras get the most media, movies and books they get alot of publicity to make them sound badarse, alot of them would say that then again you ask any soldier who the best are and they will state their regiment. I've had brothers in green howards, royal engineers and royal dragoon gaurds who's left and going to join royal signal corps, myself I'm joining the RAF reg. join the regiment thats suited to you and offers what you want.
pantsareonfire 3 years ago
yep ive thought about other regs, so if i fail paras twice id probs go to signals as well but means ill find out abit more about them
lukeseandavies 3 years ago
personally I recommend looking into all the regiments that you may want to join for the role you want, what skills you can get out of it and yet still enjoy it. some roles require good qaulifications you may or may not have.
Paras are good but their role has gone, it's too dangerous to use them as paras in afghan or iraq so they're reduced to being used as a normal infantry regiment shipped in via chinooks like most forces. who knows when they will be doing the role they were created for again
pantsareonfire 3 years ago
yeh been looking at most of them like an hour ago tough choice tho :P
lukeseandavies 3 years ago
I hear what your saying pants. Lets remember that parachutes are just a means of transport. Its what the infantryman does on the ground that counts and let me assure you, there is nothing "normal" about paratroopers. They are in fact, men apart.
Skyswinger 3 years ago
I would strongly disagree, they're good. however you have to understand they have had more chances to prove themselves then any other regiment since their founding.
Any soldier in the british forces be it the RAF reg, paras, marines, infantry etc, can be ''men apart''. the ultimate training is for the end results to operate in combat effectivly. we're all human, we're not super hereos, Same for SAS and SBS, they're good at what they do but it's due to fitness which we all can attain.

Paras ARE better than the marines!
lfcspicey 3 years ago
Royal Marines are the best troops in the world. They go anywhere they are trained to go anywhere and they have the longest training.
maxbullough 3 years ago
S.A.S are the best soldiers in the world and if the royal marines are the best why is the S.B.S an advance from the royal marines
lfcspicey 3 years ago
SAS and SBS were at the beginning one force.. during the early stages of Special forces during the african campaigns!.
SAS and SBS are equal although SBS are much more unknown to that of SAS which were thrown into the lime light during the iranian embassy.
No one is the bloody best, I'm sick of you civvies claiming that one is better then the other. they're the best collectively as a whole. all different roles.
God save the Queen.
Per Ardua Ad Astra!!!.

the S.A.S are the special air service and the S.B.S are the special boat service so there pretty mutch the same thing

bannanahomie 3 years ago

I was thinking about joinin the rock apes, but I'm not too sure. It'll be the Royal Irish or RAF Reg if I go down the combat route though. Any advice? What's it like in the RAF Reg?
Probational 3 years ago
Cheers for the compliment and congratulations on your entry mate; best of luck at Harrogate & Catterick, most importantly stay safe on any tours you're on. Good luck lad.

the marines do some of unarmed combat in training. we got taught the basics but yano... the things they teach yas lads isnt really practical at all... we thought it was quite pointless like. if ya in a situation wer ya have to do that... ya gonna just do what ya can an kill the cunt on top of ya soo... i wouldnt join a regiment or whatever for tha... think deep aba what ye goin into lads
tomelder07 3 years ago
Yeah I heard they teach you to try and kick em in the bollocks and get to a gun ASAP to finish em off! As you said definitely don't join a regiment for unarmed combat training; join the one you're best suited for and you take pride in most.
Probational 3 years ago
tomelder07
you mentioned the marines then you put i wouldn't join a regiment...
if you was saying the marines are a regiment there not its a core just like engineers its a core not a regiment...
but if you wasn't saying that then whatever its i carnt understand you message

Good luck with your goal mate, I'd advise visiting an AFCO if you haven't yet, they'll be quite helpful in giving you information and guidance.

Good video mate :)
im thinking of joining the paras
but i want to join a regiment that teaches some umarmed combat
does anyone know if you get taught that in the paras??
bennythefox 3 years ago
Thanks :)

Probational 3 years ago
no, i got H3 for my hearing test, i saw a specialist and he said "there's no way your ears are going to increase" if i d re-apply for the army and pass i'll just ed up getting medicaly disscharged again
pitbikecrazy 3 years ago
Dan that sucks. Did you ever damage your ears in an accident or anything or were you just unfortunate?
Probational 3 years ago
i was in the duke of lancs before i transferd, the NCO's threw grenades ect ect after a lesson, which didn't give us enough time to put on our ear defence because we had to do our patrole so it's gone worse since i've been in there
pitbikecrazy 3 years ago
Brilliant vid m8! I am goin to take my barb test also quite soon and i am hopefully going in the paras! gd look with any military path u take.

Probational 3 years ago
thanks =]
im pretty nervous wen it comes to interviews so any idea what they ask you?
wud make me feel alot better if i know what is expected lol.
cheers.
xllxRoBeRtSxllx 3 years ago
I haven't done that specific interview, but I'm in the Air Training Corps and we often do interviews with the RAF, so it would probably be similar. I'd say common Q's would be: Why do you want to join the Army? What branch are you interested in (combat, logistics, etc.)? How fit are you? Are you a good leader? Maybe what qualifications you've got, work experience, etc.
Don't worry too much, they're usually very professional and helpful, so just be yourself and answer honestly.
Good luck mate!
Probational 3 years ago
just got back from the interview and it went really well, instead of waiting for my 2nd interview and key skills thing for mounths they did it all in 1 day, and now im going to germany in september =].
