  • Gina: do you still recommend ELF HD powder?

  • Thanks for the review! I know want to try the ELF one :]

  • Gina!! I was watching some vids on Silica and your's popped up! Wow, you look so different here than you do now but I'm not sure what the diff is. :) You're as gorgeous here as you are now but there is a diff. I just can't put my finger on it. ;D I love your videos, straight and to the point. How long have u been doing videos? I guess I could go look in your videos and find out. hehe

    xoxo ♥

  • thnx 4 the review :) i jus ordered this.. its £6 on uk site tho! ($9.20) wish we had products like the us elf site! x

  • I love this, informative, straight to the point, around 3 minutes instead of someone blabbering on for 9 minutes saying the same things over and over. :) I think I'm gonna be checking this out, thanks so much!

  • hey hot stuff! I am looking to buy this powder so this review is extremely helpful to me, sweetie! :):) You look amazing, as always. I need some of this sand, dang it!!! I'ma buy it nah!

    oxoxox

  • Omg thank you for comparing those two brands because I was stuck in between which one to get. You saved my life haha!

  • you think after u set with any of the 2 it ll work well with fix +?

  • why should you try the complexion perfection first?

  • just use warm water with lil bit of shampoo....dont use dishwashing liquid... hope this helps!

  • oh i dont use dishwashing liquid, either. I'd been using a clarifying/clear hand soap, but now use baby shampoo. xoxo

  • how do u wash poofy

    i orderd one yay!

  • I have a net baggie that adjusts to close, like the ones for bras, and throw it in the washer with the hot load of white towels... :) I put that kind of puffs along with makeup wedges and they end up like new... I just remove them before the softener.

  • I like this look on you browns definitely suits you better.

  • aww thanks!! i've been leading towards neutrals a ton lately

  • Sorry but i don't know english :/ Elf hd is a goo product? Sorry for mistakes :D

  • it's good for the price for sure :) I would try the elf complexion perfection first, though

  • you look great in this video. I like the more neutral look on you, rather than the usual colorful looks. Your hair looks great too! Thanks for the review!

  • thanks!!! I'm starting to realize browns, etc are more suitable but I can also glam it up by making it more dramatic. txoxo!

  • MUFE's supposed to dry out your skin more than the ELF one. I would like to try the ELF one, but it was out of stock on my last order. Good review, though.

  • I could see where that's true as there's dimethicone in the elf one versus the mufe. hugs!

  • ELF HD Powder gives a feeling like you are touching a melted plastic, never tried MUFE one so i can not make a comparison.

  • they both feel the same... lots of slip xoxo!

  • I have a sample of the MUFE HD & have only ever tried that one, but i'm not sure what to make of it. This face needs a little bit of soft shimmer- glow really ;) - so I'm gonna break out my new msf soon, I think.

  • hey patti! ya.. the hd powders aren't my favorite on my already dry skin. I could see this being amazing on combo oily skin xxo!

  • Awesome comparative review. I was curious about the HD powders so thank you for review and I will stay with my mineral finish powder or the Ben Nye Banana Powder.

Thanks again for the thoughtful reviews. Blessings.

  • sounds nice! yep.. hd powders are just a bit too drying on my already dry skin, but I could see this being amazing on combo oily.. xoox!

  • i know this is a dumb question but how would you wash the elf sponge thing??

  • I just use plain hand soap scrub it in the sink and rinse with water :)

  • thank you so much.(:

oh and i also wanted to say thank you for replying.

usually people on youtube that are pretty popular dont reply back to peoples comments so i just wanted to say thank you soo much, that is so awesome.(:

  • i don't know if it makes a difference application wise, but MUFE is 100% silica while the ELF one is a combination of Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer and silica.

  • right.. the main ingredient in the elf one is dimethicone, which apparently is used in many foundation primers, which I think possibly is better. a few have mentioned they like the elf mixed with their primer or moisturizer as a primer.. did it today and so far so good!

  • Great review! ELF seems to be a good product--I need to try this!! xoxo Lisa

  • I have to say I have been impressed with the ELF studio line. Love the packaging, the products and you gotta LOVE the prices!

  • Great review. I ordered this but it did not come in my package because it was not in stock. I will try and order it again. Thanks

  • Thank you. Does Target sell this ELF powder or do I have to get it on their website?

  • I was at Target this morning and all they currently have is holiday boxed set items and there weren't any that contained the powder. I wonder if Target will branch out with more products. xoxo!

  • i'm a mua and i recently had the horrifying experience of using hd powder as a setting powder under the eyes of a high profile client who was photographed that night and she had the most awful white glow under her eyes. i was mortified!! be very careful and aware of this.

  • i definitely buff this out good when I apply it because I notice it'll look ashy or give that white cast otherwise. It's a good point that I forgot to mention, but will put the info and pass it on in the sidebar :)

  • Great review, I need to pick up some elf powder :D

  • let me know what you think! HD powders aren't my favorite and people either love or dislike them, but this is a cheap way of finding out if it's a product for you. only adivce is to use a light hand as too much will look ashy. xoox!

  • Coastal Scents sells Silica Spheres for really cheap too. Works great.

  • I heard that! I hear its a ton of product, too. xoxo

  • Thank You for this review!

  • my pleasure! xoo

  • Great review!! ...back to cleaning the room! Ugh! xxG

  • darn cleaning!! I'm laying in bed. I swear I can't even have 3 drinks w/out getting a hangover.. I'm getting old!

  • awesome review i was about to spend a ton of money getting the HD powder from MUFE and now seein this i can just get the elf one. thanks it was really helpful

  • my pleasure! i forgot to mention the elf one has dimethicone, too which is what is in lots of primers.

  • very helpful!! Thanks! xx

  • hi gail! my pleasure!

  • i finally went to elf to place an order and the hd powder-the thing i wanted most-was out of stock! aaaarrrrgggg! i hope they get it back in soon. great review. thanks gina

  • oh wow its out of stock? must be popular! I keep getting told its amazing to mix in with foundations and creams to help it smooth on.. def going to try that now! may be the new fave way to use it for me as it's nice as a finisher but not my fave

  • they are out of stock..none of my coupon codes are working....this is not my day!!! Ughhhh! I want it now.....guess I have to wait, and I shall.

  • LOL I said hair not air:o) Haha!

  • lmao! i luv typos! ur so cute

  • I've thought about purchasing the MUFE, but there was so much controverse a yr ago with inhaling it and then comparing it to cheaper brands. I finally decided to purchase from BKT and get their 100% silica. Samething:o) I think it was around $4 for a big bag of it. I mix it with my loose powder s oit's not sooo dusty in the hair.

    *big hugs*

  • Good review. I just wish it was on the French ELF website. I've already brought the MUFE HD Powder and I love it but I just might have to get the ELF one from the UK site aswell seeing as it's soooo cheap..

  • The US have so much more makeup lines than the french!!! I live in Martinique (french caribean) where Sephora france does not deliver!!!! I have to shop online and most of my sites are in the UK !!! it makes me so mad!

    Vive la France!!

  • Double bummer for you then, at least where I am in France I can get Sephora delivered. Mind you I still prefer it here than back in my own country (England) and you get the good weather!!

  • exactly! Plus, I personally like the packaging of the elf one more because the sifter is larger. xox!

  • great review, as always!! :)

  • aww, well thankies! =D

  • is MAC MSFN compared to maybelline dream matte powder in terms of covering?

  • ooh, good question! unfortunately I don't own the maybelline dream matte powder. I hear that the revlon colorstay is similar and rimmel stay matte is nice as well but haven't heard much about the maybelling one as of yet

  • great review!! i have the ELF one! good thing I didn't spend the money on the muf one! xoxo

  • exactly! that mufe is pricey.

  • awsome i want to get the elf one

  • its a great cheap way of trying out hd powders and seeing if it's for you! I'm def going to try mixing with my moisturizer as a primer.. someone said its amazing doing it that way. xxo

  • nice intro commentary! i love your sweater ;) now i have to go back and find out why you prefer the HD powder over MAC P&P- I can't remember what you said but I am pretty sure you have a video!

  • The main ingredient in the mac one was cornstarch. I think it just gave the powder maybe more body, but less silica, etc. the elf one is nice because it has both dimethicone and silica. xoxo!

  • Thanks for the helpful review! xo

  • my pleasure, love! xoox

  • good review! :]

Myself personally..found that the elf hd powder made me look a little ashy, like it magnified my dry skin (although i moisturized prior to applying. Not too bad if you blend out really well. It does make your skin feel super soft though!

  • yes! I put up an annotation because that is a pertinent point. IF you don't buff out a lot and go light handed it can look ashen, which is one reason it's not my fave powder. I'm going to try mixing with my moisturizer as a foundation primer.. someone said they love it that way. will see! xoxo

  • thanks for writing back..your awsome! lol

i heard from someone that one of the ingredients in the hd powder is used in alot of primers so i think ill try what your saying (with the moisturizer) like doing 2 steps in one!

  • i love the gold color on your nails, what is it?!

  • thanks! it's one of wet n wild's newer nailpolishes and I think it's gold mine but will have to check. it was in my last drugstore haul xoxo!

  • I have always wondered, what is your ethnicity. You look soo unique and unbelievably gorgeous.

  • haha! girl, I'm such a euro mutt! even my asian friends think I look part asian, but from my knowledge I'm not. I'm Czech and French with a little german and scotch-irish. xoxo

  • thanks for the review!! :)

  • my pleasure!! xoxo

  • omg Gina!! this is THE review I was expecting!! thanks so much ... u are gorgeous as always :)

  • my pleasure!! someone said it's amazing mixed with moisturizer as a primer, since it has dimethicone in it. I guess thats a key ingredient in primers and why ppl use that feminine cream.. what is it.. monostat or something? i forget, lol!

  • great review , on th video i made called elf haul the powder went all over me nd the computer so funny :o)

  • ahah omg!! ya that powder is verry phflooofy!

  • TKB trading also selling Silca microsphere they sell by the ounce and pound.

Before I buy it, please tell me. Does it make you look ashy?

  • I will say, YES it will if you don't buff it in good, so have to be cautious. However, this product isn't 100% silica as the main ingredient is actually dimethicone. I'm going to try mixing with moisturizer as a primer. someone said its amazing that way. will see!

  • Hi Gina Boobboobbedoop thank you for your support and love always :D you always look so Gorgeous love your style and personality your super amazing I just Love you <3oxox Melinda

  • aww thanks Melinda!! Let me know if you'd like to join our collab or do tutorials on there once in awhile! xox

  • Gina, this is why I adore you so much. Being a mom of 5 kids I can't see myself spending for the high end products. I saw this on the ELF website and was debating about buying it. I now know it is something to purchase and I can do it with confidence. Thanks girl. Big hugs.

    xoxoxo

    Jackie

  • my pleasure!! my only advice I forgot to mention before was to buff it out well as it will look ashy if not done so. I'm going to mix it with my moisturizer next as a primer. apparently because it also has dimethicone in it, it's great for that! xoox

  • I guess when I'm done with my MUFE HD powder I'll buy the ELF one. Thanks Gina! xxx

  • Nicky!! I miss your videos!!!!!!

  • I've actually recorded a few videos that were too horrible to upload. : ( I'll try again tomorrow. Thank you for not forgetting me. Snif!

  • it's like you read my mind with these reviews, I swear!

  • aww haha! great minds think a like darlin!

  • thank you so much!

  • my pleasure!

  • That is so weird cause I was just

on the site looking at this product, lol

  • ahah! hey gorgeous! someone got me excited to try mixing with moisturizer as a primer. its main ingredient is dimethicone which is used a ton in primers.. will see! hugs

  • Do you have any plans for another BlogTV?

  • going to try and crank out the requested videos but would love to do it again soon! xoo

  • YAY i bought it with a 60% off coupon, i'm now more excited to get it.

  • how did u get the 60% off coupon!!!???

  • aww ya.. i missed that coupon code.. it expired

  • I use silica powders mixed with a gel primer (like Smashbox photo finish) to prime my face where I have acne scars (the hideous ones from cystic acne), and it COMPLETELY covers it. I can put liquid or powder foundation over that primer, and you can't see any scarring whatsoever. I only use the powder by itself if I'm using a mineral foundation, and it works OK that way as well. I much prefer mixing it. OBV. the cheaper method would be to us the chafing gel from Monistat, which is dimethicone.

  • holy crap you have got me totally excited about this. the elf powder also has dimethicone in it.. it's the main ingredient, then silica! I may try mixing with moisturizer to do that!! YAY! hugs

  • :o)

  • thank you for this review. (:

i've been thinking about buying the HD powder and couldn't find a good review on it.

  • my pleasure!! it also has dimethicone in it which got me even more excited to try mixing with moisturizer as a primer as many primers contain it. xox!

  • your so pretty :)

this was helpful , thank you :D

  • aww well thank you!!
