  • I really like your videos and appreciate that you take the time to explain everything and show to the first example of each slower so we can see it better. I don't understand all the rude comments. Not everyone is a big time caker just looking for fresh ideas.... some are NEWBIES and your videos are good for those who are just learning. So...   • Ahhh but do you know how to write with a pipping bag??? It's not something everyone can do folks. I work with a lady who has been in the bakery for years and when someone wants a cake written on, she asks me to do it. So please, everyone lay off the rude comments on the lady. She is only trying to help. If you can do all of this already then why did you view the video :)... seriously.

I've worked in a grocery bakery for only 6th months and I am not even the decorator but have to write on cakes because the decorators don't have time to do it during the day. So yeah you may be better then me. That's great. What a wonderful style you have. At least you admitted that it was rude :). She is only trying to help people...

  • Thank you for reminding me of some of the " tricks" of cake decorating. My granddaughters 6 th birthday is coming up and with some practice and the aid of some other youTube vids I may be able to bake n decorate a pretty " girlie" cake for her- sure beats paying a bakery $70 for one!

What about a cake without frosting( pink purple and all of the other colores) without sugar sticks, sugar on top, gum balls, candy and other toppings. What about a FRUIT cake :D!!   • @TheIvonne2400 if nobody is allergig to nuts you could make a simple sponge cacke but with white royal icing on top with sugared almoeds rolled in blue food coloring hope it helped xxx

    But i tried making a cake and i did a crumb coat first and then put it in the fridge for about a half an hour, took it out, and did a final coating with bright orange frosting and i still got some crumbs in it. Do you have any suggestions? :)

  • @littlebaker1 Make your second coat thicker. Works for me if my crumbs are being mean to me :)

    Do you know anything about how to make an outer layer of frosting not have crumbs in it?

  • @littlebaker1, you can frost the outside of a cake with a thin layer of icing (like a buttercream that is just thick enough to spread on it). that's what is called a 'crumb coat'. Once it has set you can put on whatever icing you want and it will be smooth and crumb free :D hope that helps!
