It is largely a matter of taste and personal preferences, of course - and of fine-tuning with the available controls - but to my long-suffering ears, the N-Audio and the BB 'make the grade', while the XD and OD9 disappoint. The XD2 by Fulltone is nowhere 'full' and the OD by Maxon is nothing like 'max'. They both sounded great to me on their own when I tried them or heard someone play them - but they lose in direct comparison with other choices.

Xotic BB and Firesound are my joint winners!

Never dug the FD2..had 2 of them in the past..thought the BB and N audio sounded best.

I do like all four pedals, FD2 is my main drive when I play jazz. But of course , its matter of taste :-). Thanks for the comment man!!

I own both the Fulldrive and the BB MB and they both do their own thing really, really well. The Mosfet is definitely smoother, but the BB gives more of a mid boost, as the name implies. Have you tried the AC Booster?

Fantastic review! Each one has its own tone, which is a good thing. I have both BB preamp and OD9 and they're awesome pedals. Must-have od/booster pedals!
