I was there! I still remember the agony when Dan Gurney pulled his sick Lotus 19B Ford into the pits, after surging from last place, into the lead. My other favorite driver,Pedro Rodriguez, put on a great driving display in the NART Ferrari 330P.A remarkable sports car race! Penske really earned the win!
I grew up in Midland TX about 2 1/2 miles from Chaparral Cars. I have met Jim Hall and Hap Sharp. Hall is a gentleman in every sense of the word. When in Midland be sure to see the Chaparrals at the oil musesum (if I could spell, I would have been a teacher)
