@72guitarist Sure Josh is good, and I'm With You is a good album. The problem you have is that Anthony, John, Flea and Chad became the only four Chili Peppers on earth. That's happened very few times in rock music. Imagine if The Beatles had replaced John Lennon when he left the group. I'm sure Paul, George, Ringo and Steve could have made a great album, but would it still be The Beatles?

@THENIGHTWATCHMAN08 I'm not sure if this is what rhcpazzi used, but Audacity works. It's an effect called "Vocal Remover (for center-panned vocalists)." It works really well on almost all of the songs from Stadium Arcadium and some of the songs from By the Way, but doesn't seem to work on any of the songs from Californication. I haven't tried any of the other albums. I hope this helps =]

@SanctumStudios ..couldn't help but to think that this is being contradictory on your part, I mean great that we agree on the three-piece, but a bit Ironic that you would align with what I was proposing all along HOWEVER I do appreciate our differences in interpretation of what we deem important that endears us to the RHCP native sound, whatever that might be. Personally, I think Hillel's era IS the RHCP sound, Mother's Milk and BSSM were variations on that musical theme.

@drewlsy good points & I think we are on the same page. my inability to translate my feelings to text is where I come across contradictory. I agree what I think your saying about Johns skill causing tension due to kiedis's limitations. As big a fan I am of John, I think when he started bringing quality vocal harmony to the peppers, that direction was the beginning of the end for the band (imo). BSSM is the best those 4 could ever be together using certain strengths correctly as one unit.

it's important to align my qualms with kiedis against frusciante's development as an artist and musician. kiedis' pantomime rapping worked really well with Hillel's minimalist scratch-strumming and to some extent, Frusciante's interpretation of that, but the writing on the wall suggests that John is a prolific song-writer who can also sing. The tension in the Chili's ever since John joined has been between Kiedis and John. John was fed up in appeasing Kiedis's limited vocal-lyrical style.

seriously when will the chilis ever graduate from their adoloescent rapping-stye pantomime, and explore more lyrical, more melodious realms of actual singing, I'm talking soul-wrenching singing. john hinted at wanting to go in this direction ( you can tell) , in fact he has out-grown the band (namely Kiedis's limited vocal and lyrical range). Empyreum, John's solo LP, is prolific work; best thing to come out in years. Just bring chad into the fold and you've got the re-birth of the chili's.

@drewlsy actually they graduated from their rapping style pantomime and started with the melodious singing a long time ago, the Californication album is where it seemed to creep in. Now they only seem to do melodic stuff and personally I have the opposite idea to you it seems. The melodic stuff has ruined the band in my opinion and I wish they would go back to the adoloescent rapping-style pantomime as that was when they were an awesome funk/rock band. Now they are just a boring pop band.

@rockcienxciento I agree. By The Way album could easily be called John's album, cause he wrote most of the instrumental parts (guitar and many flea's bass parts) for it, plus his backing vocals in almost every song. A true masterpiece by a true genius.
