What damn planet are you from? There is no way a car is *ever* left burning that long unattended on any track that I work on!
If the safety equipment is malfunctioning you don't race, period.
If the safety personnel is not ready, you don't race, period.
Just ask yourself "What would have happened to my friend if he had inhaled smoke and passed out in that burning car?"
Thats what Fire & Rescue are doing at the tracks all over the world.

If you weren't there than you cant comment intelligently. The driver,a fellow racer of mine,was obviously a little shook up.He overlooked the extinguisher in the fire truck,he was understandably excited.I race here exclusively. This is a top notch track. Everyone did their best,bad thing just happen sometimes. That is why they make fire suits and safety equipment,because accidents are just that.Sometimes they are unpreventable. He is fine,and that is whats important.Criticize what you know about

I doubt a typical hand-held fire extinguisher would have been sufficient for that fire. Believe it or not, NHRA rule book does not allow a removable fire extinguisher as it may come loose in a roll-over and hit the driver in the head.
What is ridiculous is we, as racers, have to throw away perfectly good seat belts and helmets because they have past the expiration date but this POS track apparently doesn't have to follow safety procedures. An empty fire truck? That's asinine! I'd sue the track
