I discovered Buk through Yahoo/Answers poetry section. The man could write. I relate to a lot of the shit in his life. I also understand some people thinking that a life spent any other way than in sobriety and productive endeavour is wasted.
Well fine.
Bully for them.
Hooray.
Ah, the bar is open, wanna join me for a brew or two?
@StrawberryJungle What's ignorant is the support for this sickness, in that, he's quite content [he wouldn't do it for any other reason but to be content] to use his very functional brain to be just an misanthropic drunk who couldn't see beyond his own ego and intellect. Criticism, in my opinion, is fine, but as long as it's constructive, and being a professional drunk is not constructive, which makes me wonder what his point was, other than to refill his fucking glass.
..then you should probably stop yourself from reading his work..if you have actually read any of it..and go drink a beer, get it out of your system and maybe your brain fog will allow you to see past the spectacle built up by the public retardation syndrome society that dwells on a writer's indulgences rather than his message...the stigma rather than the life in his words. He had a lot to say and he said it wrote it lived it meant it.........
Yeah, all of us here seem to have such an insightful understanding of Bukowski. Or appreciation. Definitely ignorance. Ever listen? Ever really read him? He wasn't a beer. And, yes, he may have drank. He may have drank a lot. But, if you have half a brain and can appreciate a man that spoke from his guts and didn't betray his essence/spirit/work to the pathetic literary standards...and it's pretensions....and wrote from the heart...and beautifully...and violently...and called shit shit........
@popstickers this isn’t Chronic 2001, it’s poetry. Charles Bukowski was such a real, raw person. Read his stuff now and understand life a little more, or do it later on in life when you really need it.
"We're all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesn't. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities, we are eaten up by nothing."
If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Everyone needs to see this. The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean when you read the first page.
That audience must be a bunch of nutcases.

@popstickers What is your point?
Husavikur 3 months ago
@popstickers Poetry doesn't have to rhyme; it simply has to capture a moment, a something, an anything and move the listener or reader.
