Kexin i find it hard for her to make the chinese team in 2012. Barely or any of china's 2008 golden girls will be on the team. Shanshan retired, Yang Yilin and He Kexin i think peaked back in beijing, Deng Linlin had a peak from 2009-2010 and i think she is done for, and Jiang Yuyuan had a really wierd peak in 2010.
can everyone just stop bickering about who "cheated" and just enkoy the gymnastics? im sad that He fell, and i hope that next year she will qualify for the event finals along with Youna Dufornet, Elisabeth Seitz, Beth Tweddle, and Victoria Komova. That would be an epic competition... :P
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Definately not with a performance like the 2008 event finals. There are so many amazing bar workers for 2012. But who knows, maybe she has a shot if she upgrates her difficulty and clean her excecution.
@xrictinagymnastics I agree. I still don't see how she tied for the gold (even with the tie breaker giving her silver to end with). That was Yilin's title... But Nastia has too many technique problems on bars to get a medal. After every cast, every forward pirouette, there's a slight leg separation. I feel like she was rewarded for these bad habits!
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 I agree, I don't have anything againist Nastia but I thought that both Yang Yilin and Beth Tweddle had fewer mistakes than her. Most people believe that uneven bars is Nastia's best event but I really prefer watching her on beam.
@xrictinagymnastics I agree. I like her beam better. I loved her in 2005 and as a junior but after that, she just didn't seem as enjoyable to watch for some reason. I thought the podium should've been 1st Yang Yilin 2nd He Kexin 3rd Ksenia Semenova. Tweddle in fourth and Liukin in fifth.
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 I'd say Tweddle in third but i'm a little biased cause she's my favourite bar worker right now, but of course I'm not an olympic judge so my opinion doesn't really matter :P By the way what's your opinion about Gabby Douglas's bars?
@xrictinagymnastics I wouldn't say it is being biased of you. If you favor Tweddle, you must have a reason for liking her better than most and that reason could be you think she's the best. I absolutely love Gabby's bars! She has such diverse skills. If only she could clean it up a bit...
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 I don't know if she's the best but she's doing all those amazing releases. And I prefer watching releases than pirouettes no matter how hard the pirouettes are. I want Beth to win gold in Lodon and i want Gabby to upgrate her difficulty and fix her excecution and win a medal as well. But I know that it's kind of difficult with so many great bar workers
@xrictinagymnastics Yeah. Next year's EF qualifications will be shocking with such good gymnasts on every event. I find on floor it will be the most intense!
Save the tears, there is no way she is 19 Now. That day, of reckoning, will be cry worthy. Even though I dislike Nastia she won, playing by the rules. The rules are the lifeblood of the olympics. Cheaters never win...ask marion jones and all the other cheaters...
She clearly said that she pushed to make the layout jaeger higher, but it really turn out to be a bad decision, she had so little time to even see the bar, so she fall. She didn't fall the second time on the layout jaeger, cause it's lowered. She should be more conservative..
@babypandagirl69 That's because she is 17. She was 14 during the last Olympics and thus should have been disqualified for being UNDERAGE.
1:46 -- her crying, knowing she fell off the bar and disappointed her team. Oh well, that's the price you pay for LYING at the Olympics about your age <3
@ChavaAyanna Oh shut up... He Kexin was never proven to be underage. Stop being a bitch and accept the fact that He was 16 during the Olympics and 19 now, and she is a phenomenal gymnast. Everybody has their off days and He Kexin just had one at the wrong time. Just shut up
@GAGALOVER347 Actually if you viewed the Official Chinese Arbitration Of Sport, the official government listed her age as 13 in 2007, which would have made her 14 in 2008. As these pages were uncovered, the government "mysteriously" began yanking down the pages in order to hide their tracks.
Passports can be forged. They got caught, just like in the year 2000 and they were STRIPPED of their team bronze in 2000
@ChavaAyanna Oh come on!!!! It's kinda hard to forge a passport so perfectly that nobody in the world can prove it false! And if YOU read a little more... you'd have realized that the age reported in 2007 wasn't official. They never got any documentation to confirm it was real. And why do you even care about age? If your good enough to get in the Olympics, and win a GOLD medal, you deserve to be there.
P.S. Only one gymnast in chinese history was underage :)
@babypandagirl69 Please read my response to Gagalover below. The Official Chinese Arbitration of Sport ( the website for the communist government in that country ) CONTINUOUSLY listed her age as 13 in 2007 (you can find this info on Cached Pages of their site) - until the Olympics the following year where her age jumped from 13 to 16.
They were caught in the year 2000 at Sydney games for having an underage gymnast and they were STRIPPED of their bronze team medal
@ChavaAyanna What you conveniently fail to mention is that the website also CONTINUOUSLY lists the WRONG birthplace for He Kexin. If the birthplace is WRONG, how can you be so sure the birth date is correct? If you say the website is correct, what possible purpose is there to change the birthplace on her passport? LOL!
@ChavaAyanna And the U.S. had 6 medals STRIPPED in the 2000 Sydney games for steroids cheating. China would have to put an underage gymnast in every Olympics through 2032 just to equal U.S. Olympic cheating, so all this holier-than-thou sanctimonious bullshit is nothing more than just an exercise in hypocrisy. Just sayin'...
@bikerOGX and you know what? I agree with you 100%. This isn't about a country. This is about simple decency & playing by the rules. If the Americans were caught "cheating" in ANY capacity, then they should be stripped as well.
@ChavaAyanna So if this is about playing by the rules, what do you have against He Kexin? She was cleared like three years ago by the IOC. Maybe you should have some respect for the rulings of the organization that made up the rules in the first place.
@bikerOGX Because ever since He was registered with the official Communist Chinese Arbitration Of Sport (which is that government's official website for athletes) her age was consistently 13 in 2007, 12 in 2006 and 11 in 2005. Only when a journalist uncovered these pages which were cached through Google, the chinese officialls "mysteriously" started deleting the documents that had them caught.
@ChavaAyanna Are you still talking about the "deleted" document that lists the WRONG BIRTHPLACE for He Kexin? That's kinda a significant fact to continue to ignore, don't you think? I mean, it's kinda retarded to say, "Oh just ignore that pesky incorrect place of birth on that document, must be a typo, but I'm pretty sure nothing else on it could possibly be wrong, cuz I found it on the Internet."
@bookiewormie1 isn't there some rule about that I seem to remember they can't let Wu on the team now that quals are done... to put in a reserve it happens before the start of competition ... which means before qualifications ... that was why Sam Peszek couldn't be replaced when she as injured in quals in Beijing... maybe its different rules for Olympics though... not sure.
