what does it say about a sport where their major highlights are dunk contests, AI complaining about practice and Kobe declaring innocence on a rape charge....
@phillyeaglesphan Ahhh.. now I see. Totally agree with you. Do you remember how long it felt to WAIT for the final 3 innings to be played? Such strange circumstances to decide a World Series championship. This and when the 2010 Flyers had their playoff run starting with the shootout against NYR are the freshest of the great moments..
as a patriots fan i still haven't gotten over tyree's catch, and i don't think i ever will. to this day that lives as a knife through pats fans hearts
No Rays??? They were one of the worst franchises in ALL OF SPORTS and they made the playoffs and even went on to the World Series in 2008 which no one predicted, not even myself. Hell what about the Lightning winning the Stanley Cup in 2004 before the strike? Must be against Florida sports teams...
should have shown wade with the finals mvp holding arms with shaq while riles stand inbetween and shaq and iverson man people forget how good they were
@MrGuitarShowMan or the one from out of bounds or man they forgot alot of the great dunks from desmond mason and jrichof the decade form the 2000-2004 dunk contests man like vince throught the net
@Lach1234 wheres wade and shaq's then lol i mean come on shaq holding it while hsio teamates surround him ynder his arms while he holds the trophy andm vp lol and wade and shaq embracing arms with wade with the finals mvp on the stage in dallas while pat riley is in the middle cme on bets end to a season by far since jordanin 98
So much takes place in just a decade that it doesn't feel like some of these images are long ago. At once, these images extract the highs and lows that are significant not only to that sporting event but also to the memories, successes and failures that we all can relate to. Excellent video!
@DrinkLennyD well it just may atleast in basketball lebron james the biggest free agent ever left cleveland and the heat are trying to make a dynasty like the bulls one in the 90's and thats just basketball but you right in the other sports its gonna be tough and we will neevr see anothe rclassic like that Texas usc game or as i call it the vince young vs cheaters and stealers of heismans game...cough reggie bushleagued
@speardefense33 deadspin posted how ESPN did those year end in memoriams for all the athletes the died and OMITTED EVERYONE that had died in the sport of hockey. remember three enforcers died or committed suicide this year, plus Rick Martin of the French Connection, and the entire team in russia that had Brad Mccrimmon and Pavel Demetria, among others. Can't wait for NBC Sports Network to start taking chunks of ESPN's viewership and rights on sports...
Good video i like it.. but comon ESPN you want to show the highlights of the DECADE show all the sports will you? haha im american i love Basketball football and baseball but also soccer.. you could at least showed Ronaldo in this. 15 goals in WC comon now. or that game between Germany and Italy.Maxi Rodriguez sick ass goal against Mexico.. or the one i cant believe they miss which was Zidane headbutt! how can you MISS THAT! ONE! but naa ESPN rather include Tim Tebow speech and Tiger woods -__-
IMAGE OF THE YEAR: DAVID FREESE WALK OFF!!!!!.....followed by a close 2nd of abby wombach...only reason that she isn't 1st is cuz they pissed the final down their leg twice just like the rangers haha
Thank you, ESPN, for starting with a pic of Dale Earnhardt. For a channel that constantly pushes our sport to the back burner, this was a classy move!
The three moments I cried at when they happened were the Saints first win at the SuperDome since Katrina, Agassi's last win, and the Longhorns National Championship.
@aznjokester17 Jake Brown, i was watching the x games live when it happened. He wiped out after landing an amazing 720 spin. Definitely a scary moment seeing it on television as it happened.
This video sucks, especially compared to the 2000 video by ESPN. In fact a comparison of the two is instructive in showing what's happened to ESPN over the past ten years. The great 2000 montage is almost all sports. Actual sports highlights. Now watch this one. It isn't. It's almost all drama and off field tabloid crap. It's "sports images of the decade" and has hardly any actual sports images in it. I'll stick with the 2000 montage that actually celebrated sports, thanks.
I never realized how significant that decade was in sports. NFL all-time rushing record broken, NFL career passing yds, comp, tds broken, NFL single season passing TD's broken TWICE!, MLB career homeruns broken, MLB single season homeruns broken, NASCAR legend dies in a wreck during the final lap at Daytona, a team called the Patriots wins the SB after 9/11, the Saints return to the Superdome and the decade was kicked off by a Super Bowl that was one yard from going to overtime!
@Wilhelm1617 we also saw a 16-0 and 0-16 football team in 2 years, fully witnessed the 0-16 season as a Lions fan, thankfully this team is on the rise, can't wait for the 2019 video showing the Lions winning the Super Bowl
This is an amazing video, along with the College Football Images of the Decade 2000-2009 /watch?v=lx7d7itpxDM&feature=BFa&list=FL0g_uZVLDIywRhqsLOygOyQ&lf=mh_lolz my favorite video of all time
Such a great video no matter how many times I watch it. But that dude with the bugs on his neck snaps me out of the trance every time. Such a misplaced image. It doesn't go with the rest. They could've left that frame out.
@pazzmatt if you hadn't notice its all negative stuff so that was negative they put it in there. I snapped out of it before I could even get teary eyed because the first things were a skateboarder almost breaking his back. That doesn't bring me joy at all.
This video made me cry. i think they left out 2 in my mind important moments. The first is Pat Tillman. You have to have something in there about him. And i also think that you couldve thrown in Shawn Bates Penalty shot in there. It was for the New York Islanders sake the best moment of the decade. the same season as 9/11 emotions were high and it was one of the best series to watch in the decade. I think they couldve fit both of those moments in there. Other than that its beautiful
@KillingTranquility , Marshall was playing Akron in I believe 2001 or 2002, and Leftwich had broken one of his tibias, and after being in the hospital earlier in the game came back and threw for 200+ yards and was being carried down the field after a big play (perhaps more than one) by offensive linemen Steve Perretta and Steve Sciullo.
9/11 had to be the most spiritual uplifting ever..look at the emotion by everyone there, it was the most tragic day in american history in recent memory, but it brought everyone in america together, and its just right that Mayjor Guliani throws a perfect pitch at the yanks game afterwards..great job espn
Every time I see the Saints part I tear up a little. The next images of the decade better have that image of Drew Brees holding his son after Super Bowl XLIV
@nagromretnuh They will have that image of Brees and his son. I remember that first night the Saints returned to the Superdome. When they blocked that punt I went crazy and I know everyone in the world did also. I'm a Texans fan but I have so much respect for the Saints.
@EdgarD8387 I'm actually somewhat sad that they didn't put too much on here with the Super Dome reopening. They could have used 100 different images and only a few made it. The punt block would have been the best, but I guess just the fans is enough.
