Unfortunately here in adelaide due to in fighting allot of great instructors have left the academy....
I'm in Sydney. I have rolled with 4 different people from your school, ranging from 2 yrs - 25 yrs training. The guy who had been training for 17 years was the best, he was also a pretty humble guy, sadly the others were not so. They all had the same tendency to rip on other martial arts as being inferior to the IWCA. It's about the man more than it is the art. You ever try and spar a good Kyokushin Karate black belt, or a Muay Thai fighter? They'll test your structure mate. Wing Chun 4 Life.
@ lospirit were abouts are you ?are you in adelaide ? so you went to an orientation night did you roll with anyone ?If you would like to go to my branch n spar with some of us Im sure that we could arange something .....as well as other break of schools from Jim Fungs academy too if your interested......We have allot of quality instructors
but in the sydney branch and adelaide branches they are quite soft lol....
If you want to meet up for a friendly spar, send me a message. I'm always keen to learn from others. Remember it was you that said that people come to your school and realise that their kung fu is shit and has no structure. Maybe you could show me where i'm going wrong.
I'm not judging you, just stating facts. As for your assumption that I have been to the city branch, you are again wrong. Thats meant to say plenty if guys from other clubs come to our club thinking thry know good wing chun n often leave scratching their heads because the kung fu theyve learnt is often shit and has no structure
@gryfin80 I've been to your club, and I left scratching my head too! But only at how poor the Wing Chun was, how egotistical the general attitude was, (we are the best syndrome) just like you display here.
By the way lkenty of gyys from ither schools come n train with us n often leave scratching their heads because what they thought was wing vhun was actualky shit....
this is nonsense, this school sucks! none of these trainers have ever fought anyone they spend to much time talking and playing chi sao, i feel sorry for the guys that have spent years training under these knobs to one day realise they have learnt nothing to save them in the street or ring, one proper low round kick to these guys and thats all she wrote!
If you don't know anything about the guy then why are you commenting? Come into the academy some time because you really can't understand until you feel it for yourself.
the second guy pushing didn't do a whole lot. Maybe if he would have planted his hands firmly on each butt cheek, but jesus what a joke. Nothing against the master, I don't know a thing about him but his demonstration here is certainly meant to be a little misleading to say the least.
wingchunkangaroo isn't lying. I've tried multi vector forces against instructor Tony before at an open night. There's just nothing you can throw at him he cant handle.
I take it at face value for what it is - a demonstration of angles and leverage points to establish simple grounding.
Unfortunately uprooting this is very easy. Push forward and up to undermine the angles. Also dont give him a chance to position you into a weak leverage point like the participants. You should note all demos are with supporting participants. This done because it looks good and helps promote the school. Cant blame him for that.
With the power of Sil Nim Tao, one will not be affected by any incoming force. Meaning, if you totally relax and ignore your opponent, his power will not affect you.
I'm glad you find it easy to do, because it is actually the most important point: THINK SIMPLE. Because if you have too much thoughts, your opponent can easily affect you.
As mentioned - when it is done linearly this is demonstratable and simple. The demonstration would not have worked with a person actually acting in an ad-hoc multidirectional basis. The issue is most people look at this and believe it can be done in any circumstance - much like you have highlighted. This is not the case and if it was not done with a supportive team he would have been uprooted and pushed over.
watch my videos of the advanced class or any thing else I have involving Instructor Tony Psaila and you will see how it is done in multi directional vectors in unrehearsed examples and you can stop talking nonsense about things you don't understand. Maybe that crap works for whatever style you study but not in the real world buddy
As for things "I don't uderstand" or "flawed ideas" or my favourite about the "real world" - you've got no idea about me and it seems like I touched a nerve. Too bad for you.
I stick to my comments no matter how much you wish to undermine me. Its a simple demo that would struggle if someone was not cooperative. If you wish to try it out on someone who is not - then feel free to message me. If you can uproot me then I will retract my comments.
actually Sifu Jim would turn any force you put onto him no matter the direction and leverage has nothing to do with it. if you knew real wing chun you would understand this. I wonder what it is you practice that teaches flawed ideas such as this.
the thing i've come to is that one cannot talk about strong or weak power, there is only one power in the picture. the key to break it is like when u hold a straw between the tip of your fingers and try push.. the fake part about that stance is that the position those 2 guys use shift all their weight to the part be4 their hands so they r actually pushing against themselves...
im learning from one of his closed students, a few of us went there a few months ago, and our teacher was so upset, they don't even break a sweet and they didn't train they way jimmy used to teach, for the short time we were there.
I was a student of Jim Fung - he was extremely skilled and amazingly fast. In over a decade I never seen any of his senior students get past him - none.
Yeah I could. He's defying logics and physics. Theres no way that stance is stronger than those 2 ppl pushing against him. They're not even pushing. How about I give that guy a big kick and wack him on that face. That will get through the air.
bruceliem you got no idea at all.... the weight is going thrw him into the ground his whole body is relaxed only enough focus in the joints to hold them nuthing extra all else is off, thats from my understanding anyway
whatever way you look at it, this is a demonstration, it proves nothing about fighting ability, technique or training regimes. For starters the people pushing are below his centre of gravity, good for throwing an opponent but useless for pushing someone unless you already have forward momentum... which they don't... its simple physics.
you know for someone that hates this video so much you sure do watch it a lot...
come on dude this video is amazing no matter which way you look at it. so its not exactly the same as the Foshan Wing Chun Felix teaches, its still a very impressive display of HK Wing Chun force generation
Why use any "stance" at all. hold on give me a minute to get my feet right, yep thats about shoulder width apart, okay now try to hit me. this demonstation is about "structure", that can be applied now matter how your standing.
if the groin is the target, the attcker would make a roundhouse kick to the groin, if that was his target. side on the kidney and spine is just as easy though
Sorry Zyk i thought you were another Fung fan asking dreaming the font on stance to be the super stance. side on stance is best for protecting vital organs, im not stuck on a starting stance as you take it as it comes but will move into a partial side stance and keep moving... throw a round house to my groin, side or kidney i'll take half a step forward and break your knee.. Ive trained in TKD Judo wing chun and Krav Maga few can kick a round house quickly enuf to be effective, but a few can.
Each to their own would be fine if they werent extolling incredible benifits of the front on stance. In this vid theyre pushing at full stretch, if they stepped forward, theyd push him over. GM Jim Fung once wanted to demonstrate a one inch punch on me, standing up straight holding a phone book in front of my stomach. When I went into a praying mantis stance so that I wouldnt just be pushed off balance by using the front on stance, he refused to demonstrate the one inch punch.....I wonder why?
I'm sorry, who are you? I have seen 120-130kg professional bouncers / bodyguards assume highly staggered stances in an attempt to brace themselves against Sifu Fung's one inch punch. Not one of them could resist the force of the strike, and some clearly hurt themselves by trying to resist the punch. I sincerely doubt that you and your 'praying mantis stance' would have stood any chance at all.
Sifu Fung's senior instructors are always more than happy to mutually discuss their art with visitors. Why don't you come out from behind your computer and visit Grandmaster Fung's Gouger St school sometime?
You also ought to be very careful what you say on behalf of your Master, Felix Leong. Just a word of advice.
These comments were directed at 'happysingerinoz'.
You have no idea how many times ive been to the Gouger St school.. I trained with Jimmy at Rostrevor and back when the school started in Gouger St I was there teaching Karen and even big Sam Krupsky...
Jimmy and Felix have both been my Master.. Felix was the superior martial artist....
According to your YouTube profile, you are currently 46 years old. Sifu Fung studied at Rostrevor College around the time of 1959 to 1962. Before you were born.
Who is the fraud now?
I have nothing more to say to you. You want to talk some more, come and visit!
I heard you used to be able to buy Wing Chun certification from CAA. Especially in the days when they were just starting. Around the time Fung was "training with Bruce". I wonder... You know if the timelines dont match there is something dodgy going on.
Did you notice any similarity between Krav Maga and Wing Chun? You should have... Krav Maga is watered down Wing Chun based on GM Cheungs system. Just a thought.
Graham Kuerschner trained under Grandmaster Jim Fung and then left out of spite only to turn around and start up his own school. This however did not deter the success and the strength of the IWCA. The difference between Grandmaster Jim Fung and such kung fu teachers as Felix Leong and William Cheung is that he was humble and did not see kung fu as a means to compete and feed his ego..his wing chun kung fu is the real thing and is more effective than 10000x their so called ability.
GM Jim Fung was an accountant and a good businessman...He learned to be humble when he challenged Felix Leong and then backed down in front of his own students. He learned to keep quiet when he was caught out saying he was training with Bruce Lee in China at the same time his Rostrevor College yearbook showed he was at school in Adelaide... So yes he learned the hard way to keep quiet, I mean be humble, rather than get caught out bragging with untruths....
No new restraunt that I know of. Definately too busy with Wing Chun now. Ive no idea who runs Jimmys schools now that he's dead. His basic techniques were wrong but someone that trained there can still be a decent fighter.
Id still not tell Felix hes fat. Im the only person I know that has dropped Felix. Thats only because he was full on talking to someone else while we sparred and I saw an opening and took it.
Felix loved it and laughed..
30 seconds later I was running for the street :)
I didnt know about jim..how and when?,i trained with Felix(wingchun) for 4 years 3-5 days a week,I also used to work in that restaurant when i had no job,i learnt a lot from him,i also remember that if ever someone like you did get lucky enough to drop him, itll come back to u 10fold lol.I know this coz it happened to me aswell lol
Ahh i see...the bastard shouldve confessed his sins before departing...anyway.I worked at the Whipwell which was in Noarlunga of course, there were both good and bad times at that place, those were the days lol. Is the club still located in that alley way on hindley? or has that changed too ?
WTF!? god damn youre a disrespectful asshole! Cant you just respect a great master, even if his views differed slightly from yours you sad fuck!? You have no right to comment on his death. Fuck you
How can i respect someone who says hes a great master BUT ISNT. You dont know the facts so until you do,SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU LITTLE CUNT.If u want to know the truth then go pay a visit to Grandmaster Felix leongs school, then make your own judgement, thats what i did and ive seen the evidence,so i know what im talking about.
As for disrespecting jim fung, probally wasnt the right thing to say but he had alot to answer for what he did.But in saying this, i stand by what i say,so FUCK YOU TOO.
He may be fat,but that doesnt deter from his abilitys as a kungfu master,a 100% AUTHENTIC wing chun master, unlike that fake jim fung who continues to get away with teaching whatever it is he's teaching, just dont call it wingchun.
@happysingerinoz ......... hmm a little left of centre, As Jim Fung came here to study at Adelaide university, I knew this man closley, and I've trained with his master in Hong Kong a number of times, I have legal documents between Jim Fung and Felix Leong favoring JF, I was also around when Brandon Lee came to speak with JF about his dad Bruce, and Bruce's master Wong Shun Leung has come to deliver seminars along side Chu Shon Tin, JF master in his Australian Academy's....
@sethmerlin...... Sifu came here and studied at Rostrevor College before Adelaide University. The legal evidence you talk about was eventually overturned when other documentation surfaced showing that Sifu was in Adelaide at the times he said he was training with Bruce. He may well have trained with Bruce but it wasn't at the times he had publicly stated which is what caused this dispute. Regards my friend, David ;)
Yes, I trained with Master Jim starting with him 28 years ago. Ive also trained with Graham Kuerschner (an awesome instructor) GM Felix Leong (also awesome and the best fighter Ive personally seen) and William Cheung.
Why dont you go and visit one of the branches of the Internation Wing Chung Academy in Australia and find out for yourself..maybe that might alter your perspective on what is truly the best Wing Chun in the world.
looks like nothing to me other than just forming a triangle... lets see them move forward and see how long his stance would last... not very,... thats why real masters teach a side on stance and even Jim Fung admitted this was only a training stance in the end..
Against a proper wing chun stance it is near impossible to move forward. In regards to front on being only a training stance, it teaches correct structure which can be used in any position. However front on supports economy of movement, a restricted blind side and easier protection against leg attacks(amongst other things).
Front on stance also provides the least protection to vital organs... the guy pushing was already at full stretch so could hardly push him backward. When Master Jim demonstarated his one inch punch you could stand in a front on wing chun stance and get knocked flying backwards. When I once stood in a mantis stance for him to demonstarte a 1 inch punch he refused to do it.
how does a side on stance provide any more protection. the "vital" points are always there. is the head not a vital point, its always going to be right in the middle no matter what direction your facing.
This is *just* a chi trick and nothing more. *Anyone* can do this. My 15 year old cousin does this at school with his friends. I don't see any real kungfu skill in this video...
I can do this myself. Its easy all good Wing Tsun students can do this. In fact I'm 6'2 and 200lbs and could'nt Move Dai Sifu Allen Jenson doing this on one leg. Ita all abou a good structure.
Jim Fung is the best! Leung ting sucks balls! He's taken the original WingChun and turned it into his own shit house style which is useless! Sigung Tsui Sheung Tin lineage, enough said!
Gand Master Felix Leong has several Asian, and Australasian titles and won I believe over 80 fights in the ring. Felix Leong challenged Jimmy Fung but he refused the challenge. I trained with both Grandmasters and would stake my life on Felix winning 9 or more times out of 10 if they fought.
the same way Bruce Lee used Wing Chun, Karate and more, the same way champions of mixed martial arts train in many styles... you use the best of all systems that suit you personally..... as for how he personally does it at his school I have no idea as I havent trained with Felix in many years....Im guessing they are taught seperately, it is a reasonably large building. If you were skilled in Muay Thai and learned wing chun sticky hands, how much better would you be in a street fight? Lots!
I shoot a lot now. Im more into training in taking weapons off opponents than using them with Krav Maga.....Wing chun four corner block training and counter striking is something that would add massively to a Muay Thai fighter as well as wing chun body movement and using the other fighters momentum against him... I taught how to punch wing chun style to a 26 yr old boxer and kickboxer who was told he had one of the fastest jabs in Australian boxing.. he now estimates his jab is 30 to 50% faster
I have heard that sadly the sydney branch are allot more lenient with the quality of their students..sad really

True. It is very similar to an Aikido demo (trick) the technique works by subtley pushing up as they push forward. Hence the force is negated.

and the 14 yr old girls on youtube happen to be singers I work with in the music industry....
I hope you have no young girls as students at youre academy if thats how you think....
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
According to your YouTube profile, you are currently 46 years old. Sifu Fung studied at Rostrevor College around the time of 1959 to 1962. Before you were born.
Who is the fraud now?
I have nothing more to say to you. You want to talk some more, come and visit!
wingchunaustralia 3 years ago
The back yard at Rostrevor, not the College......... do'h
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
I heard you used to be able to buy Wing Chun certification from CAA. Especially in the days when they were just starting. Around the time Fung was "training with Bruce". I wonder... You know if the timelines dont match there is something dodgy going on.

Did you notice any similarity between Krav Maga and Wing Chun? You should have... Krav Maga is watered down Wing Chun based on GM Cheungs system. Just a thought.
kungfukillaz 2 years ago
Yeah it does involve a lot of the best parts of wing chun along with a lot of weapons training that wing chun doesnt have.
happysingerinoz 2 years ago
Sure, but Krav Maga instructors has dollar-shaped pupils.

Love how he holds the mic down at the end so the one leg can make a comment...

Graham Kuerschner trained under Grandmaster Jim Fung and then left out of spite only to turn around and start up his own school. This however did not deter the success and the strength of the IWCA. The difference between Grandmaster Jim Fung and such kung fu teachers as Felix Leong and William Cheung is that he was humble and did not see kung fu as a means to compete and feed his ego..his wing chun kung fu is the real thing and is more effective than 10000x their so called ability.
kawaiinaz 3 years ago
GM Jim Fung was an accountant and a good businessman...He learned to be humble when he challenged Felix Leong and then backed down in front of his own students. He learned to keep quiet when he was caught out saying he was training with Bruce Lee in China at the same time his Rostrevor College yearbook showed he was at school in Adelaide... So yes he learned the hard way to keep quiet, I mean be humble, rather than get caught out bragging with untruths....

Felix Leong is fat
zombievinnie 3 years ago
why dont you go tell him that? he runs restraunts lol, ive tasted his food, its yummy... Id be fat too if i ate there all the time....
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
i spoke to Felix about a year ago,he told me he closed his restaurant.Did he open another ?
9sunskungfu 3 years ago
No new restraunt that I know of. Definately too busy with Wing Chun now. Ive no idea who runs Jimmys schools now that he's dead. His basic techniques were wrong but someone that trained there can still be a decent fighter.
Id still not tell Felix hes fat. Im the only person I know that has dropped Felix. Thats only because he was full on talking to someone else while we sparred and I saw an opening and took it.
Felix loved it and laughed..
30 seconds later I was running for the street :)
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
he doesnt even teach wing chun properly these days. hes too preoccupied with his wushu and muay thai from what i hear
Fatarsepirate 3 years ago
yeah i guess its newer and more interesting for him.... I should have said he is too busy with his school, not wing chun..
I was so lucky back in the day...
I trained 6 days a week, almost always sparring one on one with Felix...
If he hits the switch, he is incredible... he is a true Grand Master....
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
I didnt know about jim..how and when?,i trained with Felix(wingchun) for 4 years 3-5 days a week,I also used to work in that restaurant when i had no job,i learnt a lot from him,i also remember that if ever someone like you did get lucky enough to drop him, itll come back to u 10fold lol.I know this coz it happened to me aswell lol
9sunskungfu 3 years ago
Jim died basically of sinus cancer back in March 2007.
Which restraunt did u work in, North East, Hindley or Noarlunga?
Yeah I'll never forget it. Felix was on his butt looking up and smiling and said " aaaaaah, very good" with a big grin on his face..
30 seconds later Im on Hindley looking at him and the class all on the side stairs laughing.
It was all in fun. As I was running off Felix is yelling never turn your back and im yelling I cant run as fast that way.
we larfed so hard :)
somesillysap 3 years ago
Ahh i see...the bastard shouldve confessed his sins before departing...anyway.I worked at the Whipwell which was in Noarlunga of course, there were both good and bad times at that place, those were the days lol. Is the club still located in that alley way on hindley? or has that changed too ?
9sunskungfu 3 years ago
yeah but the entrance is from Hindley now and not the lane.....
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
WTF!? god damn youre a disrespectful asshole! Cant you just respect a great master, even if his views differed slightly from yours you sad fuck!? You have no right to comment on his death. Fuck you
zombievinnie 3 years ago
How can i respect someone who says hes a great master BUT ISNT. You dont know the facts so until you do,SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU LITTLE CUNT.If u want to know the truth then go pay a visit to Grandmaster Felix leongs school, then make your own judgement, thats what i did and ive seen the evidence,so i know what im talking about.
9sunskungfu 3 years ago
As for disrespecting jim fung, probally wasnt the right thing to say but he had alot to answer for what he did.But in saying this, i stand by what i say,so FUCK YOU TOO.
9sunskungfu 3 years ago
He may be fat,but that doesnt deter from his abilitys as a kungfu master,a 100% AUTHENTIC wing chun master, unlike that fake jim fung who continues to get away with teaching whatever it is he's teaching, just dont call it wingchun.
9sunskungfu 3 years ago
@happysingerinoz ......... hmm a little left of centre, As Jim Fung came here to study at Adelaide university, I knew this man closley, and I've trained with his master in Hong Kong a number of times, I have legal documents between Jim Fung and Felix Leong favoring JF, I was also around when Brandon Lee came to speak with JF about his dad Bruce, and Bruce's master Wong Shun Leung has come to deliver seminars along side Chu Shon Tin, JF master in his Australian Academy's....
sethmerlin 11 months ago
@sethmerlin...... Sifu came here and studied at Rostrevor College before Adelaide University. The legal evidence you talk about was eventually overturned when other documentation surfaced showing that Sifu was in Adelaide at the times he said he was training with Bruce. He may well have trained with Bruce but it wasn't at the times he had publicly stated which is what caused this dispute. Regards my friend, David ;)
DreamBoulevard 11 months ago
Yes, I trained with Master Jim starting with him 28 years ago. Ive also trained with Graham Kuerschner (an awesome instructor) GM Felix Leong (also awesome and the best fighter Ive personally seen) and William Cheung.
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
Why dont you go and visit one of the branches of the Internation Wing Chung Academy in Australia and find out for yourself..maybe that might alter your perspective on what is truly the best Wing Chun in the world.
kawaiinaz 4 years ago
looks like nothing to me other than just forming a triangle... lets see them move forward and see how long his stance would last... not very,... thats why real masters teach a side on stance and even Jim Fung admitted this was only a training stance in the end..
happysingerinoz 4 years ago
Against a proper wing chun stance it is near impossible to move forward. In regards to front on being only a training stance, it teaches correct structure which can be used in any position. However front on supports economy of movement, a restricted blind side and easier protection against leg attacks(amongst other things).
zyk21 3 years ago
Front on stance also provides the least protection to vital organs... the guy pushing was already at full stretch so could hardly push him backward. When Master Jim demonstarated his one inch punch you could stand in a front on wing chun stance and get knocked flying backwards. When I once stood in a mantis stance for him to demonstarte a 1 inch punch he refused to do it.
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
how does a side on stance provide any more protection. the "vital" points are always there. is the head not a vital point, its always going to be right in the middle no matter what direction your facing.
zyk21 3 years ago
the hands and elbows offer the best protection for the head.. the side on stance offers the best protection for the groin and stomach...
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
That really sucked.
sausag 4 years ago
Im sorry to hear that your Master Jim Fung passed away because of cancer.
I trained down the road at Rick Spains school for approx 8 years, regardless of conflict in styles its a shame what happened.

This is *just* a chi trick and nothing more. *Anyone* can do this. My 15 year old cousin does this at school with his friends. I don't see any real kungfu skill in this video...

This is the real deal right there !
William Cheung and Leung Ting should enrol and learn something.
sixboltmains 5 years ago
I can do this myself. Its easy all good Wing Tsun students can do this. In fact I'm 6'2 and 200lbs and could'nt Move Dai Sifu Allen Jenson doing this on one leg. Ita all abou a good structure.

ive heard of him, has he won any titles?
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
Jim Fung is the best! Leung ting sucks balls! He's taken the original WingChun and turned it into his own shit house style which is useless! Sigung Tsui Sheung Tin lineage, enough said!

nice stance and good structure. I saw GGM Leung Ting do this when four big Germans were trying to push him over.

who's better, Felix Leong or Jimmy Fung?
colobus 5 years ago
Grandmaster Fung by far. Felix who? Sounds like a comic book character.
wingchundude 5 years ago
Gand Master Felix Leong has several Asian, and Australasian titles and won I believe over 80 fights in the ring. Felix Leong challenged Jimmy Fung but he refused the challenge. I trained with both Grandmasters and would stake my life on Felix winning 9 or more times out of 10 if they fought.

How does he intergrade Muay Thai and Wing Chun together?
Suboloc 3 years ago
the same way Bruce Lee used Wing Chun, Karate and more, the same way champions of mixed martial arts train in many styles... you use the best of all systems that suit you personally..... as for how he personally does it at his school I have no idea as I havent trained with Felix in many years....Im guessing they are taught seperately, it is a reasonably large building. If you were skilled in Muay Thai and learned wing chun sticky hands, how much better would you be in a street fight? Lots!
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
Ah ok. Yeah I was wondering what Wing Chun would have that you wouldn't get out of MuayThai as far as striking goes.
Do you train regularly yourself?
Suboloc 3 years ago
I still train a little, more into Krav Maga now and weapons training.
happysingerinoz 3 years ago
What type of Weaponry?
I do stick and knife under Raymond Floro's branch.

Suboloc 3 years ago
I shoot a lot now. Im more into training in taking weapons off opponents than using them with Krav Maga.....Wing chun four corner block training and counter striking is something that would add massively to a Muay Thai fighter as well as wing chun body movement and using the other fighters momentum against him... I taught how to punch wing chun style to a 26 yr old boxer and kickboxer who was told he had one of the fastest jabs in Australian boxing.. he now estimates his jab is 30 to 50% faster
