  • awwwhhhh

  • not cool to let a Scottish Terrier feel comfortable around a pool. They are incapable of sustained swimming. They go glug-glug

  • My scottie does the same thing when she get out of water LOL

  • its normal him running---mine does it 24/7

  • Love you're dog, soooo cute!!!!:D

  • What a cutie!

My Scottie's name is Luna! LOL. A vowel short of a twin!

  • How deep is that pool?? 2 or 3 feet? cause it looks short

  • Aww

  • Its nice the video cut as soon as she hit the water, rather than film her struggling you stopped the camera to help her out.

Need more dog owners like you!

  • yes please be careful around water...my cousins scottie died cause he jumped off a boat :(

  • My mom used to have a scottie, I wish i could've seen him.

  • Im getting a small dog soon and i'm considering a scotty, what are the good things about scottys?

  • @Audrayy2 - I've had 2 over 21 years now. They're good with kids, loyal, cute, courageous (will easy play with big dogs)... but the two scotties I had were different. One snapped at ppl and dogs and the other is the sweetest animal - to random folks and other dogs (first prob. wasn't socialized early). They are a bit stubborn, as scottie owners know and they love to stop all the time when walked. I love taking mine to the park b/c he chases squirrels. And he loves to jump in the fountain.

  • @mikeduplantier Thanks so much. I am actually looking to buy a Scottie on Saturday :) Your comment really helped me make the decision.

  • I had to fish my 6 month old scotty out of a frozen lake 2 yrs ago. Took my eye off him for a few seconds and he was across the ice chasing ducks and went through the hole near the centre. I had to smash my way through the ice and managed to grab him before he went under. Another 30 secs and we would have lost him. I needed rescuing too. I made it into the local paper though:o) Funny thing is he loves water but I watch him like a hawk.

  • What an adorable scottie! My family's Scottie was 12 1/2 years old when he passed away, and we miss him greatly. He hated the pool, and would stay away from it at all costs. However, one morning he was eating breakfast outside, and my mom left him along for a few minutes while she inside to get a glass of water, and when she came back out he was dead at the bottom of the pool. He was left alone for not even 5 minutes! PLEASE be careful with Scotties around water, for their sake and yours.

  • @osms316 i'm getting on my own and was going to get a scottie i'm so sorry for your loss. It must have been terrible. he shall be missed and reading your comment i wont leave mine alone by any water.

  • I love Scotties so much, they really are great dogs. I can't wait to have one of my own someday.

  • :55 He straight up jukes yo ass.

  • I also have this dog, they are such expressive and beautifull dogs

U can always see how they feel

  • She's so cute! May I ask why you named her Lana? Because I would love to own a scotty and name her Lana after Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who owned a scotty. Fala was the world's most famous dog for a while :)

  • @annabella1214 1st time i heard such a thing.

  • I WANT HER<333

  • im 11 and i LOVE my scotties

  • My maltese terrier would go absolutely MENTAALLL after baths. Running around the backyard in circles at top speed. Maybe it's a terrier thing?

  • LOL @ her reaction - "YOU DIDN'T TELL ME WATER WAS WET!"

  • I adore these dogs! My scotch terrier also goes crazy after a bath! He seems trying to dry himself, rushing like a rocket here and there. But nothing can make my scotty jump into the water. He had some sad experience hunting ducks in cold november water...

  • @Svetlana4891 mine's loves baths. when i say bath time...he follows me into the bathroom. after i wash him, i sit in the floor to towel dry him, he comes over to me " w/o a command" & plops down in front of me, onto his towel to be brushed & blow dried. when i say "over" he rolls over ; so i can brush & blow dry the other side of him. he lays there completely still until i say "all done". Each dog's personality is totally different. there is no "across the board" behavior for this breed.

  • been there, done that :p

i went on a walk with our scottie, Mila on a hot day, and she suddenly jumped in a waterpool. after that, she went all crazy, it was so cute :)

  • Awww......my dog sophie who looks just like Lana does the same thing!

  • i want a terrier like that. I have a westie, hes still my little guy, but aging and I would like for him to have a little friend to play and excercise with, as he is only really active around other dogs, and as I've been told, hes a fat dog :S. Do scotties and westies get along?

  • it is sooh cute i want one!!

  • i have a scottish terrier who sings lol

    his video is on here..

    Dudley The Singing Scottish Terrier

  • I respectfully request that if your Scottish Terrier must be near a pool, purchase a doggy life jacket. Scotties are a treasure to those of us who TRULY love them. If you do not have the money, please purchase a poodle. They are born to swim and there are many to be rescued online rescue groups. Type your breed into google and you will see all the dogs in need. Thank you and God bless your good intentions!

  • that was really deep lol

  • I want one like yours!

  • My Scottie puppy drowned the day I brought her home! There are always exceptions to the rules, but over all, Scotties are not swimmers and should never be left unsupervised anywhere near water.

  • Scottish Terriers are not built to swim. I have personally known of TWO who drowned! An adult who climbed up and into an above ground pool; the other was a puppy who fell into an in ground pool. I do Scottish Terrier Rescue and would never place a Scottie in a home with a pool. I look for the absence of a pool and the presence of a fenced in yard, and no smoking, please and thank you.Scotties have short enough life spans. Please be aware of the dangers and get your Scottie a life jacket.

  • @ChrisCurtisFan Or train the dog to swim and so help the breed get better at it!

  • @vithaj92 The breed is NOT BUILT to swim. No amount of training will overcome that, my friend. The breed is built this way: Big head, stocky body, short legs. Can YOU be trained to have long arms, long legs and a small head?

  • @ChrisCurtisFan Ok, I see your point, but I still think that a little training will help decrease the chance of drowning.

  • @vithaj92 And I am stating publicly here -- so that if somebody reading this gets a Scottish Terrier and require the dog be near or in water -- this breed is not built to swim. A Scottie will sink like a brick because it is designed like a brick. BIG HEAD, STOCKY BODY and SHORT LEGS. GET A LIFE JACKET! Even better, get a Poodle instead of a Scottie.

  • @ChrisCurtisFan that is actually exactly what happened to my scottie a few yrs ago.. we had taught her in our old house how to at least get the step to get out but we never had in our new house. One time my dad left her in the back yard for just a few min and she fell in the jacuzzi. At least she was 15 yrs old at the time and had a long and happy life.

  • Omg my doggie who is a scottie sophie LOVES the pool. She balances on our boogie board. We call her...SURFING SOPHIE you guys wanna see her? ill post a vid of her if you want

  • Cute!! She looks very much like our dog Angus.

Where do you stay? It looks very warm!

  • Your Scottie is so round! J love it it's so cute! I have a little one year old Scottie and she does the exact same thing when she gets wet. I guess it's something in thier heads that makes them crazy when they are wet. What ever it is I love it! 5 stars!

  • I used to have two scottish terriers but the one was stolen when she ran away, and the other one.......

  • This is so cute! I have a nine month old Scottie named Paisley. She loves water and baths! Great video.

  • my scottie does exactly that when she gets out of the bath! such a gorgeous breed!

  • It's Jock from Lady and The Tramp! Kidding! Great dog you have there!

  • smile

  • ha love it. my scottie not only loves bathing and water, but after (even when dried off) he runs around crazy.

  • Wondering how old your scottie is??

  • She'll be 4 on Valentine's day

  • @rotschka my scottie is born in valentine's day, too!:D

  • Very cute!

We've had Westies & Scotties who didn't care much for water.

When they happened to get wet, they'd run around crazy also...I used to chase them with a towel and dry them off once I caught them.

Once I toweled them dry then stopped acting so crazy.

  • fantastico XD

  • my scottie absolutely detested water! it was a real challenge bathing her, right afterward she'd go outside to look for something stinky to roll in, lol!!! what a character!

  • hahah she's just like my dog, hes half scottish, when he gets wet , hed always run around the house like crazy :]]]]

  • nice dog!

  • i love scotties! so cute

  • i wonder whats going through thier heads when they run around tht way

  • my scottie can't swim. his head wheighs too much. he's extremely disproportioned.

  • my scottie survived 5 days in the woods twice, being hit by a car 3 times, and bibesiosis. he hasnt even sufered any injuries

  • is his name lucky? = )

  • i have a scotty too.. the best swimmer, even a diver goes in to the bottom to get the toy.. and runs like crazy after trying to get dry

  • cool and cute dog i have too scotish terrier :D

  • my scottie goes running around crazy after a bath

  • mine too

  • Cute! Enjoy her for as long as you can!!! My scottie passed away on Tuesday. He was 12.5 years old! I miss him so much. This one is so brave! Ours never went near our pool!! He hated the water!

  • my scotties fur is very curly, does it get strighter as they get older??

  • How utterly cute and solid she is. One thing I recommend is keep a life vest on her or get her a floating collar. It's called a sea dogg. I own a scotty and he swims with either a vest or his floating collar because they tend to sink like stones. One little scotty at our dog park had to be pulled out and revived. thank god he made it. he just stopped swimming maybe due to fatigue or scotty cramp.

  • lol...how cute!!

  • thats what im getting for my b day now i know what a great dog it is! getting it as a puppy though

  • soooo cute but mine gose crazy all the time :)

  • so funny

  • lol.

  • What a cute terrier,its beautiful!

  • thats funny becuase my scotty hates the water

  • so funny
