@moviesperson100001 Yes, Expedition Everest will definitely be closed. I'm not sure if they work on this ride at night. It all depends on how much crew they have, seeing as engineers go around at night to check on working rides to make sure everything is working right. And I know people who work for the park and have told me because I asked them. The exact dates of the revamp are still undecided.
No offense but if u had problems u shouldn't have changed it in the first place I think it was fine the way it was , but hey it's changed nothing I can do , it looks good though
Look, we (the tech crew at Fantasmic) try our hardest to get the show perfect for you. I found it insulting how the crowd on that night booed. If only you knew how complicated things can get for lighting and pyro's when you have a broken animatronic dragon stuck on the stage. There are no alternative lighting programmes that accommodate for a dragon stuck on stage in such a position, so the show could not go on.
Yeesh, that did NOT look good! Mind you, I have never seen the Disneyland version of the show, just DW's. It's funny, Disney seems to have trouble with its large animatronics. Like the Yeti on Everest, didn't it break down as well?
@MeggChan The Yeti has MAJOR issues. Only larger scale ones of Murphy's here. See, Murphy's base most likely broke, causing her to fall forward. The Yeti's concrete base has a giant crack in it and is unstable- so it's why he no longer moves. Disneyland's fixed Murphy's issues pretty much and haven't had anymore of these, only fire breathing from what I've personally seen. However the Yeti issue will be resolved in the Expedition Everest revap in a few years. I believe 2014.
@moviesperson100001 I think you misunderstood me. The revamp will start in 2014 and will probably last for a few months. See to get to the Yeti to fix it, the whole top of the mountain has to be taken off. It's a huge Audioanimatronic!
@softballfreako So I guess they have to close the ride?? Speaking of which by the way, when a ride is closed for refurbishment, do they get refurbished overnight as well so they can re-open sooner?? If they don't, they need to start doing that right now!!! Especially if it's a long major refurbishment like Space Mountain in Florida got for seven months. Where did you even hear about the revamp for Expedition Everest by the way???

@ericsan4344 there is an alternate version Disney has always used when the dragon is down for referb or repairs that Maleficent stays risen on her platform and ignites the river
also before murphy came to disneyland she has hydralic misfunctions. all i heard is that she was fine but just need some hydralic fluids to operate all its functions
why when murphy the dragon came out the head fell forward? it was already broken when it came out so why they still bring it out. i went to disneyland somedays after the iccident and they said probably she will come back fixed a few months later.
holy crap. i have never seen anything like that happen at Disneyland or fantasmic. every time i have seen fantasmic it has gone off with out a hitch. this is the worst mechanical failure i have ever seen in fantasmic. luckily i got see fantasmic in June before this happened.
Argh, I'm going to Disneyland for the first time in my life next week (I've been to Walt Disney World several times) and I was looking forward to seeing Murphy! What do they do during this part now? Just have Maleficent on her lift waving her scepter around?
@airwick0905 probably. Thats what happened when murphy was delayed for the debut. They were saying that they were going to put the sequence into a projection so that could happen too... Also, they could substitute the old one while fixing it. Then again, I dont know what they will do because i have never seen Murphy live, just recordings and a lot of research.
@airwick0905 yea, thats what i said when i went there a few days ago. shes works for the fantasmic show and i asked her why dont you use the old dragon that was here before murphy. maybe the old one isnt there since murphy was there. hmm.
Okay, first , Disney isn't perfect. But look at how quickly they covered it with the mist screens. They didn't fix it right there during the show. They covered it up. That's professional.
@avtarlover123 the base broke. :/ yeaaaaaaaaa. im surprised that that hasnt happened with the yeti in expedition Everest since his cement base has a small crack. that's why he no longer moves so this doesnt happen. haha
In other words, they don't have time for all of the problems this incarnation of the dragon is giving them anymore, and once again Murphy will most likely be redesigned completely from the ground up. If I had to guess a date when it will be back, it would probably be next summer.
Poor Murphy!!! It's really really sad! I love Fantasmic! I hope she gets better semi-soon-ish. I know it's going to take a lot of work, time, and patience, but I hope things turn out! Murphy is one bad-a dragon!
Seeing this Happen is just SCARY!!!! I actually saw the show last night and I noticed that they didn't use the trap door that Mickey uses for when he appears at the beginning and the end of the show, they actually used Sorceror Mickey during the "Some Imagination Huh?" part. My hope is that they fix Murphy soon!!!! Hopefully they'll have her fixed by Christmas If were Lucky!!!!
Maleficent...bent over?! Goodness, I've never seen anything like that happen in "Fantasmic!" before. Does this mean that they're going back to the "Malefi-lift Substitute"?
Yes. :( And on top of that something happened w/the drop that Mickey uses at the very end of Fantasmic so they have him staying on the roof as Sorcerer Mickey then "'disappearing" with just a bunch of pyro.
Fantasmic has been nothing but drama for Disney. :/
@MrStageNerd They really shouldn't have put Bucky into retirement. He/She should've been kept as a "stand-in/stunt double" for Murphy in case she [Murphy] should have "injuries" such as this "dislocation of the forlegs". [Not to mention the time she "slipped into a coma", you might say. It sucked to have watch Maleficent pull that dangerous tower stunt for 4 months (no offense); they should've at least replaced the dragon screenshots with human Maleficent's screenshots.] Nyuk...nyuk...nyuk!!! :)
I was there that night. Saw the dragon bite it and immediately gathered up my friends and told them we had to get out of there cause it was gonna be a madhouse.
That makes sense - but they have had problems with the drago before 'Bucky' as well - they're professional productions - they should always have a back up plan. My friend used to be a performer in this show and every once in awhile there would be technical issues. It is just how it is. But "the show must go on" in most cases of theatrical productions - they could figure something out so it's not so abrupt for the audience and children viewing. I'm sure they'll figure something out - it's Disney!
@LilaLongDistance There is an alternate way to do things in the show, even a failed dragon. But the problem this time was that the dragon flat out collapsed. There's no way to recover in-show from that. One of Disney's 4 keys is "Show" and having a limp dragon sitting on stage the rest of the performance is not good Show. Another key is Safety, and there's a live person on the stage with the dragon. There's no telling where else it may fall. The safe thing to do is to stop the show.
How did they end it?? did the ships come by after like usual? or did they just end the show like THAT?? :-( They should have an alternate way of dealing with it just incase - it's technical stuff in a show - it happens to the best!
@LilaLongDistance This was a whole new problem for them, and as you notice, Murphy was still exposed. With the water screens running it would've been too dangerous for the boat to go by and the former alternative ending was to have all of the cast dancing on the island waving something like scarves around. Can't do that either with the dragon still exposed.
I feel terrible for all of the techs who bust their butts everyday to provide such a TIMELESS show for all of us. Noone wanted to see Murphy act like Lindsay Lohan on a good night! All in all, of all of the times I have visited D-land, the cast members have been really nice and sweet. And just imagine all of the ones behind the scenes to make it happen.
OMG FINALLY!! me and my girlfriend where there upfront but more to the middle of da whole section to watch while sittin down...i heard a big snap den saw murphy fall it was crazy...lets hope next year there arent as many problems!

@SOSBrigadeLDR I wish they would use the old one until they get the new one fixed. It seemed to work for all those years just fine lol.

In other words, they don't have time for all of the problems this incarnation of the dragon is giving them anymore, and once again Murphy will most likely be redesigned completely from the ground up. If I had to guess a date when it will be back, it would probably be next summer.

MrStageNerd 1 year ago
@MrStageNerd
Yes. :( And on top of that something happened w/the drop that Mickey uses at the very end of Fantasmic so they have him staying on the roof as Sorcerer Mickey then "'disappearing" with just a bunch of pyro.
Fantasmic has been nothing but drama for Disney. :/
keiliana 1 year ago
@MrStageNerd They really shouldn't have put Bucky into retirement. He/She should've been kept as a "stand-in/stunt double" for Murphy in case she [Murphy] should have "injuries" such as this "dislocation of the forlegs". [Not to mention the time she "slipped into a coma", you might say. It sucked to have watch Maleficent pull that dangerous tower stunt for 4 months (no offense); they should've at least replaced the dragon screenshots with human Maleficent's screenshots.] Nyuk...nyuk...nyuk!!! :)

LilaLongDistance 1 year ago
@LilaLongDistance There is an alternate way to do things in the show, even a failed dragon. But the problem this time was that the dragon flat out collapsed. There's no way to recover in-show from that. One of Disney's 4 keys is "Show" and having a limp dragon sitting on stage the rest of the performance is not good Show. Another key is Safety, and there's a live person on the stage with the dragon. There's no telling where else it may fall. The safe thing to do is to stop the show.
Krillinish2 1 year ago
How did they end it?? did the ships come by after like usual? or did they just end the show like THAT?? :-( They should have an alternate way of dealing with it just incase - it's technical stuff in a show - it happens to the best!
LilaLongDistance 1 year ago
@LilaLongDistance This was a whole new problem for them, and as you notice, Murphy was still exposed. With the water screens running it would've been too dangerous for the boat to go by and the former alternative ending was to have all of the cast dancing on the island waving something like scarves around. Can't do that either with the dragon still exposed.
Orcatime 1 year ago
@Orcatime The boat DID go by, but in darkness.
