  • oh dear

  • Murphy is to tried to act

  • poor murphy

  • What was wrong with the dragon?

  • No offense but if u had problems u shouldn't have changed it in the first place I think it was fine the way it was , but hey it's changed nothing I can do , it looks good though

  • Look, we (the tech crew at Fantasmic) try our hardest to get the show perfect for you. I found it insulting how the crowd on that night booed. If only you knew how complicated things can get for lighting and pyro's when you have a broken animatronic dragon stuck on the stage. There are no alternative lighting programmes that accommodate for a dragon stuck on stage in such a position, so the show could not go on.

  • That is so rude at the end.I just want to smack the people who booed at Mickey. Come on it's not like it's the worse show. R.I.P.Walt Disney

  • LOL BOO!

  • Exact word of me on that night:

Oh...um...shit. Uh...um... I then proceeded to lol for about 5 minutes.

  • Yeesh, that did NOT look good! Mind you, I have never seen the Disneyland version of the show, just DW's. It's funny, Disney seems to have trouble with its large animatronics. Like the Yeti on Everest, didn't it break down as well?

  • @MeggChan The Yeti has MAJOR issues. Only larger scale ones of Murphy's here. See, Murphy's base most likely broke, causing her to fall forward. The Yeti's concrete base has a giant crack in it and is unstable- so it's why he no longer moves. Disneyland's fixed Murphy's issues pretty much and haven't had anymore of these, only fire breathing from what I've personally seen. However the Yeti issue will be resolved in the Expedition Everest revap in a few years. I believe 2014.

  • @softballfreako That can't be right!!! Why should it take that long for just one Animatronic to be fixed???

  • @moviesperson100001 I think you misunderstood me. The revamp will start in 2014 and will probably last for a few months. See to get to the Yeti to fix it, the whole top of the mountain has to be taken off. It's a huge Audioanimatronic!

  • @softballfreako So I guess they have to close the ride?? Speaking of which by the way, when a ride is closed for refurbishment, do they get refurbished overnight as well so they can re-open sooner?? If they don't, they need to start doing that right now!!! Especially if it's a long major refurbishment like Space Mountain in Florida got for seven months. Where did you even hear about the revamp for Expedition Everest by the way???

  • @moviesperson100001 Yes, Expedition Everest will definitely be closed. I'm not sure if they work on this ride at night. It all depends on how much crew they have, seeing as engineers go around at night to check on working rides to make sure everything is working right. And I know people who work for the park and have told me because I asked them. The exact dates of the revamp are still undecided.

  • Lol Murphy is like, "I'm done with this!!!! I quit!!!!!" and Mickey is like " I quit too!!" and marches off!!!

  • Quick! Murphy's down! Now's your chance to get him, Mickey!

  • 1:30- "and..... water screen

  • 1:35- "and..... water screen

  • that is one of those ahhh crap moments

  • LMAO at mickey. it must have felt awkward.

  • So did they continue with the show or stop it and had everyone make an orderly exit?

  • What a vivid imagination she has.

  • ROFL!!!!!!

  • man Mickey really kicked the dragons ass this time

  • @TaylorHound yeah woohooo go mickey

  • Epic Fail!

  • It seems she's facing away from mickey and all i can say is EPIC FAIL! At least they stayed in character. Why did they shut the lights off when Mickey said this is my dream?

  • I was there! I was so excited to see the show and when it failed one side if me was like "argh screw u Disney!" and the other was like "now we get to come back to c it tomorrow!" haha! XD

  • Wow. Major props for Disney, though. if you look carefully, it looks like they made the arms like that specifically so if that does happen (which it obviously did) the arms will make sure no serious damage is done to the very expensive dragon. Good job Disney!

  • wow...never thought I would see the dragon not work..though I saw a flaw in one of the other shows when California Adventure just was newer. We went to the Aladdin show. When Jafar was going to turn into the snake the trap door he was suppose to go into when the smoke went up failed. He was still there. We had to wait a few minutes for them to fix it. X3

  • looks like the two headed dragon has one head that has gone to sleep lol

  • That's terrible! That looks like it could have damaged Murphy >A<

  • i like the music @1:40 lol.

I found it slighty amusing how they sped up the ending... ehheh

  • the dragon's name is really murphy.. i never knew that lol a big gaint evil dragon named murphy. i find that funny

  • So they just ended the show...? Ah poor Mickey, I would have been scared out of mind if I was on stage when that happened ={ Credit goes to him <3

  • um, wow. thats reaaaally awkward for disney.

    ahahaha whoa.

  • hey thats my birthday! :D

wait should i be happy about this lol..?

  • Ahh.. Out of the MANY many times I've been to Disney.. I still haven't seen Fantasmic.. Of course.. I heard it from my room. :\\ How many times do you go? (:

  • I was working Fan that damn night...I was put at the stupid petrified tree...what a horrible night until that damn dragon busted then things got a little better...I was able to go home early hahahahaha

  • @BOSTONLOV3 you don't like the show?

  • Maleficent is so scared of Mickey, she's paralyzed with fear!! Epic Mickey!! lol

  • Why would Walt be " zipping up his bear suit" ?

  • Somewhere, Walt Disney is "zipping up his bear suit" XD

  • It's so hard to watch videos of things not going right in shows. But its also fascinating! I can't look away!

It's like watching a horror movie!

  • This is hilarious.

    "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

    *dragon just lays there*

    "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

    *dragon is just sitting there*

    Funny.

    <3

  • I think it's BS how the people started "booing" at the end.

Disney rarely messes up anything, in fact they strive to make a near perfect setting.

One mishap and everyone goes nuts.

The chain that held the dragon up snapped, so that;s it. come back to see another show later

  • dude EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAAH XD

  • @ErinGrizzly11 bullshit

  • looks like Murphy Drank too much and had gas XD

  • Ooh Mickey, what did you do? and the funny thing, i was there when it happened! i was the manager for the Dragon i failed.... i didn't get fired though.

  • @ErinGrizzly11 that must have been an interesting night

  • @clarkviola yes very interesting...

  • Ooh Mickey, what did you do?

  • HES BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they just stop the show if theres a malfunction? they should have a plan B and just have it like how it used to be with the waves and cartoons...as the old saying goes "the show must go on" so that was messed up on their part

  • @CubicalGirl

Coming from someone who works in theatre, "the show must go on" isn't always true. You have to think safety of the performers first. I would imagine with something this big, until you know exactly what went wrong its best to stop of solve the problem. I've seen shows stop for far less. It's really horrible to stop a show, but stuff happens and you do your best to get it back on track. Disney does have a lot of Plan B solutions, but something this big would be a nightmare navigate.

  • All I'll say is this, one When they came up with the idea, they must have wen't '' What an awesome, out of this world idea'', but when they finally shown him, they went ' great' untill the dragon still sits during the finale, they go' what a fat dragon, untill that time on the video, if I was them i'd be going, '' what the f.... happened, this was the most worst thing you guys ever came up with you moronic, idiotic, b.......... .And I'd be very mad

  • This mustve been RLY embarassing to Disneyland!! :(

  • That...t-that looks not...good.

  • I was there that night! So disappointing to my little nephew on his 1st time watching Fantasmic. :/

  • at the end of the video what did they project on the screen that was white?

  • @maverickkiller35 It just says Fantasmic, nothing spectacular or informative:) Went 12 DEC 10 and the dragon worked flawlessly:) (yah and the whole time I was watching the show I was thinking to myself, please do not let the dragon break again haha cuz everyone will say I cursed it haha)

  • That dragon is awesome, but it just keeps on breaking :-\

  • I was so mad because I was heading here for the next show when we heard the dragon broke down. we could have saw it the night before, but we called it a night. I`m so mad that we did

  • Oh god so tragic.

  • i remember wen i saw that in august.Good times go so fast...

  • Bummer! Murphy preformed perfectly this past weekend. Shot fire out of his mouth and everything! It was incredible!

  • That's great. !!!!!

  • Hey everybody! As of November 12, 2010, Murphy is back in action!!

  • They can't use Bucky as an understudy because it would be to much work to use Bucky for a few days shows. You would have to reconnect the lights on Bucky and reprogram the lights for that part. It's a good idea but its too big to put that one in for a few nights

  • @1leprecon not to mention Bucky is no longer with us :/

  • @1leprecon It would be complicated to reassemble Bucky, and a waste of time for only a few nights. Bucky's had his share of problems. Vivian's had hers. They're only minor tenichal issues. Murphy? Her issue as seen here was, is, and always will be, a catastrophe waiting to happen. No dragon for a night or two? 2-3 weeks tops? Understandable. But after 3, 4, maybe 5 months, the show is will be in dangerr of cancellation. Who in his/her right mind would want that, I ask you? [I don't!] Rate/Reply!

  • and ddient they just replace the old one..which did the same thing o_o

  • I said this once before: they really shouldn't have put Bucky into retirement. He should've been kept as an "understudy" for Murphy in case she [Murphy] should have "injuries" such as this "dislocation of the forlegs". [Not to mention the time she "slipped into a coma",Jun-2010.] It sucked to have watch Maleficent pull that dangerous tower stunt for 4 months (no offense); they should've at least replaced the dragon screenshots with human Maleficent screenshots.] . . .

  • What are they using now that Murphy is absent?? Are they even having fantasmic anymore?

  • @ericsan4344 there is an alternate version Disney has always used when the dragon is down for referb or repairs that Maleficent stays risen on her platform and ignites the river

  • also before murphy came to disneyland she has hydralic misfunctions. all i heard is that she was fine but just need some hydralic fluids to operate all its functions

  • maybe they crew working for the fantasmic show didnt think murphy was broken until when she came out her head just fell forward

  • why when murphy the dragon came out the head fell forward? it was already broken when it came out so why they still bring it out. i went to disneyland somedays after the iccident and they said probably she will come back fixed a few months later.

  • holy crap. i have never seen anything like that happen at Disneyland or fantasmic. every time i have seen fantasmic it has gone off with out a hitch. this is the worst mechanical failure i have ever seen in fantasmic. luckily i got see fantasmic in June before this happened.

  • haha such a fail at the end ... i luv how the guy sayd boooo at the end hilarios

  • Argh, I'm going to Disneyland for the first time in my life next week (I've been to Walt Disney World several times) and I was looking forward to seeing Murphy! What do they do during this part now? Just have Maleficent on her lift waving her scepter around?

  • @airwick0905 probably. Thats what happened when murphy was delayed for the debut. They were saying that they were going to put the sequence into a projection so that could happen too... Also, they could substitute the old one while fixing it. Then again, I dont know what they will do because i have never seen Murphy live, just recordings and a lot of research.

  • @SOSBrigadeLDR I wish they would use the old one until they get the new one fixed. It seemed to work for all those years just fine lol.

  • @airwick0905 yea, thats what i said when i went there a few days ago. shes works for the fantasmic show and i asked her why dont you use the old dragon that was here before murphy. maybe the old one isnt there since murphy was there. hmm.

  • Mickey really slayed Murphy...

  • Well, at least Murphy didn't barbeque Mickey!

  • Man, they had to stop the show? That sucks. Glad when I went nothing went wrong.

  • oops..did i do that? D:

  • Mickey must of taken cared of Murphy backstage XD.

  • Okay, first , Disney isn't perfect. But look at how quickly they covered it with the mist screens. They didn't fix it right there during the show. They covered it up. That's professional.

  • Murphy: Disney's Macbeth

  • @komotoko99

Don't say his name out loud... It's bad luck!

  • If's she's sinking, somebody's been drinking! ;P

  • Poor Murphy. You think maybe if we rename her to something different, bad stuff will stop happening to her?

  • @lastxwriter Lol! I think the poor girl is just really prone to accidents. :(

  • Why the hell are people "boo"ing? Seriously peopel! This kid of thing happens all the time in Disney parks. They can't be perfect all the time!

  • poor murphy :( it looks like she broke a wire and has almost completely lost the (very heavy ) heab on her neck

( looks like she i sad too)

  • @avtarlover123 the base broke. :/ yeaaaaaaaaa. im surprised that that hasnt happened with the yeti in expedition Everest since his cement base has a small crack. that's why he no longer moves so this doesnt happen. haha

  • @softballfreako to tell the truth i think that the name murphy had somthing to do with this lol :)

  • @softballfreako well that sucks - not being able to be scared by a yeti anymore - what a rip off

  • @erikals2 Well they're going to fix it in the refurbishment soon, so it will move again.

  • @softballfreako of corse she may also have lost a masive amount of oil pressure

    just a theory

  • dragon might not be back till christmas :<

  • @Rin10005 My family has a friend who works at Disneyland. He told us they aren't bringing back the dragon T_T

  • @Jamanprince

    your full of shit D:

  • @mickeymouse14 I really wish I was... I have never seen the new dragon in person :(

  • @mickeymouse14

In other words, they don't have time for all of the problems this incarnation of the dragon is giving them anymore, and once again Murphy will most likely be redesigned completely from the ground up. If I had to guess a date when it will be back, it would probably be next summer.

  • @Jamanprince D:<

no dragon??!! thats like the best fantasy live moving character ever!!

  • @MrStageNerd No, this can't be!

  • From what I understand, they are debuting a new dragon an hope to get it up this coming summer. :( sad day. Poor Murphy :(

  • @flutie000

ANOTHER dragon? I thought that they're just gonna fix Murphy! Don't tell me that the big girl is retiring, is she?

  • @flutie000 Wrong.

  • Mickey picks up the Sword of a Thousand Truths.

    Mickey flees from battle

    Onyxia dies.

    Audience gets +9001 rage

  • Boy, Mickey really kicked that dragon's ass this time!

  • @hootowl2112 LOL i no huh? Hard enough for her to collapse DWN ON DA FLOOR almost hitting the water

    !!

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! NOT MURPHY! ANYTHING BUT MURPHY! WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE!

  • MURPHY!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!

*bucky backstage* "I would have done it better" >_>

  • 1:18 - rest of vid: Most epic embarrassing moment in Disneyland history...

  • I cannot believe that this is the ONLY video! Was no one else taping the show? It would be awesome to see from different angles.

  • I feel really bad about all the people that were there seeing the show for the 1st time... :(

  • OH. MY. GOD. :0

  • Poor Murphy!!! It's really really sad! I love Fantasmic! I hope she gets better semi-soon-ish. I know it's going to take a lot of work, time, and patience, but I hope things turn out! Murphy is one bad-a dragon!

  • looks like murphy had a bit too much butter beer before the show lol

  • Seeing this Happen is just SCARY!!!! I actually saw the show last night and I noticed that they didn't use the trap door that Mickey uses for when he appears at the beginning and the end of the show, they actually used Sorceror Mickey during the "Some Imagination Huh?" part. My hope is that they fix Murphy soon!!!! Hopefully they'll have her fixed by Christmas If were Lucky!!!!

    Thank You for Posting This!!!!!

  • Watch what really happened on my video!

  • That fall looked rather violent

  • Maleficent...bent over?! Goodness, I've never seen anything like that happen in "Fantasmic!" before. Does this mean that they're going back to the "Malefi-lift Substitute"?

  • @MrStageNerd

Yes. :( And on top of that something happened w/the drop that Mickey uses at the very end of Fantasmic so they have him staying on the roof as Sorcerer Mickey then "'disappearing" with just a bunch of pyro.

Fantasmic has been nothing but drama for Disney. :/

  • @MrStageNerd They really shouldn't have put Bucky into retirement. He/She should've been kept as a "stand-in/stunt double" for Murphy in case she [Murphy] should have "injuries" such as this "dislocation of the forlegs". [Not to mention the time she "slipped into a coma", you might say. It sucked to have watch Maleficent pull that dangerous tower stunt for 4 months (no offense); they should've at least replaced the dragon screenshots with human Maleficent's screenshots.] Nyuk...nyuk...nyuk!!! :)

  • Watch what really happened on my video!

  • I really wonder what all the first-time viewers were thinking when Mickey battled the ever-so-animated dragon =P

  • I was there that night. Saw the dragon bite it and immediately gathered up my friends and told them we had to get out of there cause it was gonna be a madhouse.

  • Murphy, you better be back up and running when I visit the park in a few weeks...

  • @persianking44

that ain't happening....he's gonna be down for awhile.

  • @FantasmicMouse The water screens didn't show anything important. When the show stopped the screens were only showing the Fantasmic logo.

  • ...lawl

  • what were the water screens displaying at the very end?

  • @FantasmicMouse they were trying to cover up the fallen Murphy.

  • Watch what really happened on my video!

  • @MJMStudiosLA Are you going to post it or not? I want to see her accident from another angle!

  • mickey head (i wasnt trained for this )

  • OUCH! poor murphy :( its really scary that you can almost see the exact moment the support breaks and murphy falls.

  • poor murphy hope she returns to the show soon,i got to see her ,she's fantastic

  • OH man this video was painful to watch...

  • DERRRRRRRRP!

  • OH MY GOD HE'S DRUNK!!!

  • That makes sense - but they have had problems with the drago before 'Bucky' as well - they're professional productions - they should always have a back up plan. My friend used to be a performer in this show and every once in awhile there would be technical issues. It is just how it is. But "the show must go on" in most cases of theatrical productions - they could figure something out so it's not so abrupt for the audience and children viewing. I'm sure they'll figure something out - it's Disney!

  • @LilaLongDistance There is an alternate way to do things in the show, even a failed dragon. But the problem this time was that the dragon flat out collapsed. There's no way to recover in-show from that. One of Disney's 4 keys is "Show" and having a limp dragon sitting on stage the rest of the performance is not good Show. Another key is Safety, and there's a live person on the stage with the dragon. There's no telling where else it may fall. The safe thing to do is to stop the show.

  • How did they end it?? did the ships come by after like usual? or did they just end the show like THAT?? :-( They should have an alternate way of dealing with it just incase - it's technical stuff in a show - it happens to the best!

  • @LilaLongDistance This was a whole new problem for them, and as you notice, Murphy was still exposed. With the water screens running it would've been too dangerous for the boat to go by and the former alternative ending was to have all of the cast dancing on the island waving something like scarves around. Can't do that either with the dragon still exposed.

  • @Orcatime The boat DID go by, but in darkness.

  • How did they end it?? did the ships come by after like usual? or did they just end the show like THAT?? :-(

  • I feel terrible for all of the techs who bust their butts everyday to provide such a TIMELESS show for all of us. Noone wanted to see Murphy act like Lindsay Lohan on a good night! All in all, of all of the times I have visited D-land, the cast members have been really nice and sweet. And just imagine all of the ones behind the scenes to make it happen.

  • Murphy's a good boy, he played dead for us. Now he's gonna lose some points for doing it all day.

  • @ASC2175 *cough*she*cough*

  • So she turned into a paralyzed dragon? That'll teach Mickey!

  • OMG FINALLY!! me and my girlfriend where there upfront but more to the middle of da whole section to watch while sittin down...i heard a big snap den saw murphy fall it was crazy...lets hope next year there arent as many problems!

  • booooooooo

  • Sad stuff. But I loved how Mickey just skipped the whole show once the screens went up.

  • awwww i felt something in my chest when i saw Murphy fall ):......-tear-

  • I loved how even with the failure, Mickey still stayed in character as he exited the stage!

  • dang!
