may he rest in peace. rick sanchez on CNN just mentioned marvin the other day. rick worked at KHOU cbs 11 in houston for some time. CNN was doing a story on the worst sports stadiums in the nation. god i miss marvin.
Being born in the early 1990s & growing up in the early 2000s I would really get excited when it came down to Zindler's Friday Reports. Marvin was a great dude, & I don't think anybody can top him.
Marvin Zindler was my hero growing up. 19 years I watched him not just talk about health violations, but stand up for what was right. Hah I remember dancing as a kid and singing along when he would say his, "Slime in the Ice Machine". I remember when his wife passed, too. What an amazing man. He never slowed down and tried to do what was right. Most people when they die have nice things said about them because their dead..with Marvin...it was all true. God Bless you Marvin
I lived in Houston, too, during the 70's & 80's. Marvin definitely was a character. "SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE " & 'ROACHES IN THE KITCHEN" definitely made me eat at home a lot.
I hate to say it but Marvin was into plastic surgery long before Michael Jackson. I look at Marv's wierd-looking nostrils and wonder why he did that crap. I'm sure it was his persona & legend; like that toupee and blue lens glasses. RIP Marvin.
Thanks for uploading this. I wasnt living here at the time, but its so cool to see him still doing his thing days before his death. Total dedication. Will be missed.
No matter how clean your house or restaurant is you will have roaches if you live in the Houston area. I lived there for 2 years and it is in a coastal area that roaches just thrive.
This was the man that helped close down the Chicken Ranch if my memory serves me. At least the movie was pretty funny. They made Zindler out to be a sensationalist. He seemed to care about what he was doing though.
Yes, Marvin closed down the chicken ranch. He liked the play, but not the movie because it made him out to be too bizarre. Marvin was over the top, but not freakish.
He also didn't like the fact that the movie made the whole thing out to be about a crusade against prostitution, which was not the real reason he went after the chicken house. He wanted it shut down because of its ties to organized crime, not because he was some sort of extreme moralist crusader.
I haven't lived in Texas for many years, but I grew up watching Marvin's reports. He was a hard worker and had a passion for what he did. He will be missed and always remembered.
I've been living abroad for 3 years now, and only just found out by chance that he'd passed away. I listened to him most nights growing up as a kid, so hearing that he was gone has been a blow knowing that I'll never go back ot that again. I guess we take the old familiar things for granted, I can't believe he's gone :(
it is just so sad to see him go, we will miss marvin, and we know we will have no one else like him...i saw him once in person, and he looked at me, and smiled, i smiled back. he cared for the people, all the people. thank you marvin
We'll miss you, Marvin... thanks so much for helping the less fortunate. *Tip of the cap from a former Houstonian now in WI* "It's hell to be poor!" -- Marvin Zindler
I grew up with Marvin he will truly be missed...My grandma was on one of his segments...It was embarassing to say the least. >_< << If I find a tape I'll upload...But that's not a promise.
Houston will never be the same to me. I grew up watching Marvin for over 25 years. RIP Marvin you are a LEGEND in this town & a class act all of the way!

@hkfreak If KTRK is doing restaurant reports, they are doing them when I'm not watching. And I typically watch KTRK news three times a day.

Can you upload a more recent Action 13 segment? His producer has ever since been doing the restaurant reports, I believe.

Damn shame, that Marvin's final news report was in his hospital bed even though we knew his death from the cancer was coming.
He will never be replaced and those who try to do consumer reports now can't even come close.

SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE! That was my favorite catch phrase along his closing; R.I.P. Marvin.

Yes, and hopefully he will go on forever.
Does Dave's face look like a potato to anyone else? I've always thought so, even as a small child.

@restlessr84 I think the reason Dave Ward's face looks like a potato is because of all the vodka LOL

It's the way he said it, as you can hear in the audio.
