@REPOMAN24722 sr20 is more successful in drifting but the cosworth engine was developed for racing... and whats the sound have to do with anything? thats just an opinion, not a fact
@IonicRipper The cossworth engine sounds like a 1.6l, The SR20DET was designed for rally and that is were reliability is needed with the engine taking so much stress and shock from jumps, nissans RB26DETT and SR20DETT have both won endurance battles were they raced on a track for hours on end and both of them kept cooler than the others under the same stress.the Cossworth engine just cant do that due to the fact that it's cooling properties are inferior.
@darrenjgraham It's when the gear teeth aren't cut in an angle in the transmission (basically like the reverse gear on any manual car). Noisy but easier to cut -
i know he's had a long and distinguished racing career and the same for his television presenting career, BUT ! ................... is it just me that thinks Tiff Needell is a complete and utter TWAT ?
I was waiting for him to add these words at 1:59 just after he says more ducting to increase the air flow into the coolers - However the lights are shit! - lol
fords maybe fast cars but they were so ugly inside and out. German cars had looks to die for. The sirerra was gastly to look at. You need to be drunk to look at it. Like i said though they were quick cars though
@23chilled Personally I find that German cars of that era look rather bland and homogenous... the Sierra is awkward and bulky, but it certainly stands out.
martinh88 Are you saying a guy who has driven in F1, won in world sports cars and driven at Le Mans and won in Touring cars drives like a fool. Shut the F@ck up you muppet.
@martinh88 When you're driving a 1100 kg RWD car with 500 hp that has suspension as soft as a brick wall with 5 cm steel plates in it, you're bound to saw with the wheel since the suspension does not absorb the bumps on the road as well as a road car and sends the shock through the steering rack and column into his arms. All racing cars from the 80's do that and most still do today.
@isamike Couldn't agree more, I love the old Group A cars such as the Sierra and the Skyline, they were far more interesting cars and had a lot more in common with standard road cars unlike the current cars which share nothing with their road going versions.
I like the touch of the xr4x4 at the end! The days of touring cars featuring Cosworths made me want to buy one....and I did...it will always be the best car i`ve ever owned...great video!
@LMF5000 : He's fighting to stay in control of the car. Those are corrections and recoveries. A car with that much power is twisting the chassis, breaking the tires loose. Ideally you want to be smooth but to catch the car's movements he has to be quick and proactive instead of reactive. Brilliant work behind the wheel of a monster!
@1979jondam im sure its the best hatchback, anyway. Its pretty unique for a car with that sort of horsepowers to be able run that well on only front wheel drive. First class engineering :)
@sayonara2030 To the person under these aliases: sayonara2030, laughingwinner, purpleforestwolf, walkerful14, animalsrighter2010, I have no idea who you are, and I have never posted any videos about you. That engine is nothing compared to the SR20DET the SR20DET can handle 550hp on stock internals.

@IonicRipper SR20DET has more aftermarket support, is more responsive to modification, sounds tougher, more successfull in motorsport.
