actually it's not just that the alcohol burns (relatively) at a low temp its that it takes alot of heat to make the water change 1 degree. so its actually the water's resistance to heat that keeps it from burning. because if you were to take just alcohol and put that on your hand it would burn. so don't think that it's a LOW temp. it's just relitive to that torch he has sitting there.
