Um..... you Israelis' do realize that what you're clammoring for is bankrupting the entire civilized world right? Social Justice is another term for entitlement. You have what 75% Debt to GDP? How do you expect to do and pay for all that? Tax businesses? More regulations? What happens when they abandon you to places that don't restrict and tax them? You'd be very wise not to bite the hand that feeds you. Workers need producers. Not the other way around.

So, how can simple people bargain their interests if not THIS way ?

@valgez1 You have progressive taxes there don't you? That's what those taxes do. Tax the rich more than the poor. I don't know the specifics of how it works in Israel, but here in the states 60% of people pay no taxes at all, and we're completely fucked. It's called diminishing returns. You can only tax the rich so much before they just say "Fuck you, I'm not going to create any more wealth if you're just going to steal it to give to someone else."

@mechmusician We have 100% tax on buying a new car, 50% tax on buying an apartment, $ 2.15 / Litre petrol prices. Even grapes are more expensive than in London! All this with a mere $ 6.30 per hour min wage with very big percentage of people earning not much more than that. I am not a socialist , I support market economy, but what we have is not a competitive economy, it's more like monopoly, so let's break it ! By creating any more wealth - you mean the wealth in their pockets ?

And in case you didn't notice, excessive regulation benefits the rich because they're the only ones able to hire lawyers to navigate through all the goddamn red tape. @mechmusician Yeah, that's why people got to the streets. But high taxes are not idiotic at all, high taxes are the source of abnormally high income going to the capital owners. Israel has free mkt economy, which happens to be very centralized - at the end of the ladder it's owned by some 5 families. Who cares about the country? Short term income is much more important! Especially in a country where long term investments bear high risks :-) .

Btw, I am fully aware that Israel must spend significantly on its military bc you're surrounded by primitive, racist, fascist hordes that all want to kill you. But the same amount of revenue could easily be raised with a flat and/or fair tax while boosting your GDP and cutting your debt. And this is an MBA talking here.

Military budget is also a convenient explanation, all those military contracts are surely going to the "Right" people. As I said, the system does very unequal distribution of GDP, and I believe short - term investment horizon is a reason, apart from very short sighted people in the government.

@valgez1 Well yeah income taxes are usually taken directly from paychecks. We call those "deferred payroll taxes" here. Interest taxes are also standard because that's income. But you will never get equality or justice by dividing people into any segments, let alone economic segments, by force(government). Large corporations need big government to live with little competition from upstarts entering the market. Again, if you want justice, try freedom. Not socialism.

Israel already withdrew all its forces and settlements from Gaza. In return it got THOUSANDS of rockets from Gaza on Israeli civilians. Just so you know, any such rocket attack is an act of war. Why should Israel withdraw from any territory, or dismantle any settlement only to get war in return? That makes absolutely no sense. Instead of you criticizing Israel, you should be supporting Israel in its legitimate right to defend its citizens from Palestinian aggression.
