  • how do i remove the edge completely?

  • Ha ha ha, "que the BuckNutty music..."

  • in other country's people live with parents for a while, oh yea..people aren't in as much debt as we are

  • Thanks son.

  • mb you could mention this is completely biased for park/freestyle.

And keep the your tools wet so they dont get clogged up with filing dust.

  • the mtx is a regular camber board with magne traction, btx is a banana

  • get buck nutty

  • anyone got tips on tuning a board with mtx? i have a skate banana '10 and not sure what to do with it - theres no need for detuning since the metal edge stops at the contact points (doesn't go around tip and tail). a regular file should be able to get into the waves of the mtx yeah? not sure about creating a bevel on it though.

  • @uechanchung The "contact points" is the points that touch the table when you lay the board on it flat. This is for a traditional camber board, at least...because the middle is raised off the table. Since the banana makes both ends raise off the table, I'm not really sure what the contact point should be. Maybe it's when you step on it?

  • thx helps a lot men

  • I have the same table as you lol Nice video thanks!

  • Haha, "my mom's rug". LoL! Nice dude.

  • Tagging for future reference.

  • does this method work on skis too

  • hey man, thanks for all your vids, really good insight, I'll be tuning my boards on my own now unless it's something major.

  • How do i know when to stop detuning

  • @summitguy800 My suggestion: Don't wear all of the metal off... otherwise your board may come apart

  • this should be done to every park board hardcore edges result in nasty backside boardslide faceplants!

  • its a total waste if a complete newb tries tuning her/his board and completely wrecks it, with a used board they at least have a chance to practice techniques...

  • I prefer a gummy stone. Either works.

  • prowant2b = so you don't fall on your ass.

  • if you dont use the tip and tail edge why detune them?

  • You can still catch an edge, usually beginners do in that area and if you're riding park a lot you'll catch an edge in those non effective edges a lot.

  • and a safety kinda thing so you don't cut peoples clothing or your clothing in lift lines. and when your grabbing tail or nose you don't end up cutting your hands or gloves.

  • So that you don't catch the edge when doing a nose/tail press on a rail

  • lol that thanks son pic xD

  • anyone know what site would have all the tools shown here?

  • wow your videos are sick Franklin! make one about waxing wen u get the chance Plz lol

  • haha, cover up my moms rug.

  • is there a difference in tuning and de-tuning?

  • de-tuning = taking away the angle on the edges

tuning = making the edges different depending on your style ie sharp edges for racing/slalomn and shallow edges/rounded edges for park etc

  • So is detunning like rounding the edges? Or dulling the edges?

  • yeh...just making the unused areas flat so they dont catch and stuff.

  • not just the unused areas but the also the edges on the toe and heelside so they dont catch when ur hittin rails

  • What kind of file holder is that??

  • Dude, did he seriously say "Buck Nutty"?

  • lol XD

  • franklin, the board you are holding in your hands is a powderboard. no sane person would use this beauty to jump on a rail...

  • metulsky the board he is holding in his hands isn't a "powder board". It's an all-mountain/freestyle board.

  • i just got a new board today but im afraid to detune it cuz i dont wanna mess it up, can i go and get it de-tuned at a shop or something...do they do that?

  • Of course they do.

  • same here i just got a new board. if i detune the edges will it harm the board from lot of riding? oh nice vid

  • Not exactly sure what you mean, but detuning is something you should only do to the tip and tail like shown in this video and wont harm your board or riding at all. It does however help buttering manuevers if that's something you're into.

  • so just got my first board but havent had any trouble with the jibs ive been taking....should i still touch it up?

  • well just to be safe i'd say detune it a little, but not too much. see how you go.

  • love the vid, and love the poster in the back ahhahaha

  • awsome

  • so is detuning the tip necessary? ive had my board for 2 years and just started real basic rails and stuff... just wondering how needed it is..

  • Very Necessary!

  • K, well i tried it out today... the nose & tail isnt too grabby/sharp but still grabs a bit i have a freaking 2-2.5inch file, it SUCKS. but whatever... just a pain in the butt =P wish i had a bigger file.. also tuned the edges today.. or sharpened... and they're really grabby... first time attempting to tune/detune so i really have to wax my board (kinda scuffed it around the edges a bit) but whatever. first time for everything

  • is de-tuning your tip and tail to assure you dont catch your edge in a nosepress/tailpress?

  • i assume so, plus you dont use your nose/tail at all for carving..

  • almost scared to touch my board with my new file. no idea what to do and not sure how much or really how to detune...

  • This video rocks!! Sweet, explains a lot!!
