when i first heard this song, a couple years ago, i asked a bunch of people where the bass line came from. because i knew it was from an early 60s girl group. the bass line, i found out, is from "i will follow".
God, they're great! The link between the Velvet Underground and the Jesus ans Mary Chain.......... Or you can forget I ever said that and just appreciate them in their own right.
yeah, heavier than VU and more deranged than the Mary Chain. The bassist helped hijack a Korean aeroplane for goodness sake. Just got hold of one of the not-quite-legit reissues by the Phoenix label, its great to hear them. The pinnacle of all the music from the era ive ever listened to, from UK USA Germany or Japan
I have about 12 of their recordings. Still not bored. Mizutani is a cool cat; he has a powerful aesthetic too... which a lot of people ripped off unfortunately.
oh, shut up you hipster douchebag! who cares how someone finds out about anything? they're a great band, and worthy of wider attention. fucking music otaku.
@valleus i wouldn 't be surprised if there were, since it was a international event. for some japanese folks, the band remains better known for that, that for their music.
This bass line is awesome, and so easy to play, I love it. It reminds me most of a song that goes something like this 'My rhythm, my rhythm, my rhythm, come on and feel my rhythm'. Or Teenage Kicks, with a little fantasy.
the catchy bass line would be I Will Follow by Little Peggie March, who also released it sung in Japanese... :)

Shoegaze in the 70s. And nobody's fucking heard of them. Yes, I do believe this is the very definition of "ahead of their time".

Too bad this video totally kills the drums and removes the haunting heavy echo on the vocals that is on every LRD recording
