just because they have similar sounding stuff doesn't mean that it's not good. half of the Highway to Hell songs have all the same notes and chords, but they are all switched around. AC/DC always does that, but they make it sound good all the time and that's what makes them so awesome!

AC/DC really understood the use of distortion. It seems a bit OTT here, but often when you listen carefully one guitar is clean and it's really effective. I like the way Malcolm uses "proper" chords, rather than just fifths too.

ScumOfTheRoad, AC/DC doesn't use any distortion what so ever... Angsu gets his tone by playing with the volume knobs and chnging the bass and treble and such. They never have nor will they ever sue distortion.

I think that's an interesting point. Malcolm uses much heavier strings than Angus, and Malcolm has the more distorted sound. Yet, when AC/DC plays, all I hear is Angus and a bit of Malcolm. And very little of Cliff.

I always thought that malcolm's sound was less distorted than Angus, if you listen to walk all over you, Angus is playing first then Malcolm comes in, you can really hear that his is a fair amount cleaner. I think you mean his sound is heavier and thicker. And probably the reason you cant hear Cliff is probably because your listening through computer speakers which genearlly dont have much bass on them anyway.

I definitely wouldn't say that Malcolm is more distorted. He'd have a minimal amount of overdrive and he'd let the guitar do the rest. Much better sound than the SG, I think.
