I'm from Indianapolis. I love it here. However, when he says can't go west and can't go east I think refers to all of the one-way streets in the city. Every road is a one-way. It's awful.
Great song ..my baby sister sent it to me cause I am stuck in Indianapolis...Laughed my ass off. I agree on the lyric I'll puke if that jukebox plays John Cougar one mure time..that was brillant
I saw them on tour with Lucinda Williams a few years ago. Great, great show. They really seem too good to be an opening act for anyone. I saw Wilco open for Richard Thompson a while before that- they were too good to open as well.
smart playing, clever writing and they always cut onstage. And of course, they're never on the radio people hardly know they exist. The great ones seem to never get heard. I love this country, but sometimes it makes me sick. The sheep follow what CMT,VH-1 or MTV says is great. Sad.
I do not know what this has to do with the Bottle Rockets, But As for your comment greatngood, If it was not For the U.S you would be speaking German and I Japanese. I love this Band by the way..
Listen to this... I watched this brilliant band play for around 90 people in Davenport, Iowa while just across the river, friggin Kellie Pickler from American Idol played for around 10,000. A crime, a real crime...but I was at the right show...the Rockets simply cooked!
Hailing from the Hoosier state I find the tune amazingly apt. The question, "Is this Hell or Indianapolis?" succinctly summarizes my feelings about Indy. Brilliant!
that wasn't my point. wilco/tweedy is an absolute media darling right now, drawing a lot of extraordinary attention to a genre of music that bands like the bottle rockets and sun volt and calexico have been toiling in obscurity under. hence - my wilco analogy.
The point I was making is mostly that it's unfair to blame wilco for being media darlings over Son Volt, given that Son Volt is effectively Jay Farrar, whose roots are precisely the same as Tweedy's.
These guys are one of America's great bands. Brian Henneman is a brilliant songwriter and guitar player and their latest album, Zoysia, is genius! And no, I'm not in the band, but my band does several Bottle Rocket songs.

seem to have kinda forgotten that Tweedy and Farrar invented the damn genre in the 80s with Uncle Tupelo ;)

Well, Henneman was right there with them, jamming in the Blue Moons while the boys from UT were still in the Primatives.
That does explain why Henneman ended up playing lead guitar for Wilco on AM.
