Messes with your head when you think an animal is alive today that was alive just 20 years after the U.S became a country... 50 years before the cival war... and well before electricy
my son swears he heard a small wil lizard in Arizona scream when a tarantula came too close, twice. Is there such a thing? I've lived around deserts a lot and known of none and my son is a liar but I heard some kind of Utah fish scream (unknown kind) so guess its possible. Or tell me how I could find out.
I'd have to know what type of lizard it is. I will say that many animals, even reptiles from time to time, can have some strange alarm calls. This not only scares away potential predators, but it can also warn others that danger is near. So a sreaming lizard may not be as far fetched as you think! Thanks for watching.
Tortoise. Close enough. I absolutely LOVE him! He's wonderful...
Back home at the Staten Island Zoo in NY, we had Jalopy - a hundred year old galapogos (spelling).... grew up with him. He did pass on now.. but loved him too!
any tips for a tortoise. i got mine from tunisia. he will only eat lettuce. tried different veg. tried cuttlefish dust but he will not take to it. i use dried small bark for flooring.
Sulcata's are great. Keep in mind that they are a desert tortoise. Because of this, they are built to eat some hardcore roughage. It is best that once they are big enough, let them graze in the backyard to eat grasses. When they are young, sand is a good substrate for them, and add some other rough leafy greens to his diet, like kale. Good luck.
can a snake swallow him?. maybe.

Cold blooded means an attraction to heat? I was always taught they were attracted to the cold.
Raymint 1 year ago
@Raymint Cold blooded means that they can't warm themselves up on their own. They must be heated up by the sun or else their body temp goes south.

They've been around for over a million years, eh?
Apparently they're slow at evolving too.
