@RattLHEAD2DTH Everyone has the right to dislike a movie/book/music etc. , but I agree I don't get it why people hate or dislike this movie. it's (one of) the best Italian horror
@9001Erwin it's one of my personal favorite movies. And i probably wouldn't have said that if there they had said some reason as to why they did not like it. Comments like that always leave me thinking that they did not actually watch the movie, and are just trolling to get a reaction
As much as I hate admitting it, I didn't like Suspiria. Now before anyone goes berserk, let me tell you that the colors and visuals to this movie were very creative and fun to look at, and Goblin did a great job with the music. Unfortunately, the music was often too loud to be scary at parts, the acting was a little hammy, and it could have been just because I had a bad DVD, but the sound was terrible. It wasn't the worst horror movie I've seen, but it definately wouldn't be in my Top Fifty.
@DDentonas Definately 1977 I wouldnt be suprised if it didnt scare you cuz its an old movie, but its pretty creepy and disturbing.. You gotta be in the right mood to watch this, I suggest smoke a big one and enjoy
I want to pull a prank on my roommate when he comes home from work one night with this song... Have this song softy playing as he enters our apartment with a red light bulb lit while I am holding a knife. I think that might stir up the ol' kicker on Marky boy LOL
@mansonfan128 oh FUCK no. anyone but nicolas cage... please. or tom cruise/matt damon, etc. they should use an unknown actor. or even better, not make the remake at all. ha
After watching some of Argento's other stuff, I now realize how incredibly important this theme was to Suspiria. Argento did a great job with Suspiria too, but without music like this, his other films just lack so much.
@championskyeterrier yeah, this music takes the movie to a different dimension. so good. it really takes it from being a great horror movie to being one of the best ever.
@championskyeterrier Agree...This movie was always about the music for me... some very vivid and intense images as well of course but the soundtrack makes it so intense. Music is the most important element to a film I think!
suspiria is the kind of movie where no matter how many times you watch it, it's still scary. at least to me, and i've seen plenty of the scariest movies out there, but this one gets scarier everytime i watch it.
IM listening to this untouchable work of genius creating a horror story of my own. wish me luck fellas. cheers......."YOU THOUGH YOU COULD KILL HELENA MARCUS??? HELL IS BEHIND THAT DOOR." cheers... sorry greatgarloo u just had to say it!? lol i see you are as great a fan as i 8D haha
To me Argento's work is what a Stanley Kubrick horror flick would be like. They have a methodical, artistic brilliance to them. It's not fast paced, and all action. It puts your mind into a trance-like state. It's no wonder his films weren't aimed at American audiences. Admittedly (being an American), most of us aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate such work. If there wasn't a car chase, explosion, or T&A within the first 5 minutes most would turn it off and say "this sucks".
@JunmaiShu I completely love Suspiria, but I'm not sure how "sophisticated" it is. While beautiful & brilliant, it's also pretty much an exercise in style over substance with a muddled plot and zero character development. As for car chases & explosions, the first few minutes contain one of the most sensational murder/action sequences ever committed to film. And Kubrick did make a horror "flick", it's called The Shining and it's much more complex and sophisticated than any number of Euro movies.
I see some parallels between The Shining & Suspiria in terms of style. Another movie that was called "all style no substance" was Dark City, and it's one of my favorite films, and one I consider quite sophisticated. So much so that American audiences just weren't ready for it when it was released. I doubt you can disagree that in general American audiences learn toward frivolous entertainment. Just look at the reality TV that's saturated the market... case closed.
@JunmaiShu True, there is a lot of stupidity in American pop culture, but the U.S. also produces some of the greatest art in the world. Just look at film in the '70s: Scorsese, Coppola, Friedkin, De Palma, Kubrick, Altman, Malick, Spielberg, etc., etc.- the work of these masters takes a back seat to no one, from anywhere.
Yeah, of course I'm not saying it's all garbage. I'd add some obscure ones to that list I think take a backseat to no-one too, but this conversation could go on forever. It just doesn't surprise me that Argento didn't have much faith in the American market and release his films here. And we even got a dumbed down version of Phenomena (Creepers).
I love Altman. Just watched The Player a few weeks ago. Great flick.
@JunmaiShu you're right, it's an endless conversation. I didn't mean to get defensive, I just grow tired of encountering the attitude that there's something inherently ugly and mindless about average Americans. But people like me who go around starting arguments on YouTube are really annoying and idiotic.
Yes, The Player is great! McCabe and Mrs. Miller and M*A*S*H are my favorites. Like I said, I love Suspiria but I gotta admit it's the only Argento I've ever seen...
Well at least it was an American making the comment, otherwise it'd have been very condescending. My comment was aimed at American audiences, not film makers, of whom I'm sure many would even agree with me. You had the right to be defensive. No harm, no foul I hope.
If you plan on watching the rest of the "Three Mothers" trilogy, you may be disappointed by Inferno. I was. Deep Red & Tenebre are closer to Suspiria in terms of quality, IMO. You should give them a try.
I can not tell you how many times i've been threw the Frankfurt airport. And i also went to the black forrest. I had some rasberry choclate cake. And i bought a coo-coo clock there.I had in laws there. that is how i got to go. I also had the real black forrest ham.I love this movie. I watch it everytime when they show it of fox mo.Joan bennent was beautiful.
Aah one of the most misunderstood films that I have seen. As has been said the plot is so simple that people read to much into it. I'll put this one up there with I spit on your grave ( should really be called "day of the woman") in terms of being downright misunderstood. it actually annoys me how marketing takes over and these films get all this hype around them like "don't watch it you won't understand it." I'll take my chances thanks.
@doggyhubertdog the plot makes plenty of sense, a girl goes to a ballet school full of witches that murder their students, they killed the blind man by putting a curse on the dog, and she kills the head witch, what's not to understand?
@Littl3W1ng Why do the witches appear to want the girl to stay at the academy itself (rather than in the apartment she was in at the beginning of the film), and then just kill her? What's the point? In fact what is the point of the ballet school at all? It's a good film but it's just cobbled together.
Thanks for uploading this. It's an amazing piece of music. The film was really well made. So pleased I stumbled across it recently. You can't beat this kind of horror. CGI sometimes just doesn't do the job.

Similar to Kubrick's work I think. There are many moments in 2001 people might think it's plodding along, but that meticulous flow is what immerses us into the film.
TERRIFYING. that film was honestly one of the wierdest films I have ever seen. It was awfully made, bad continuity, bad acting and questionable special effects at the end, but the lighting and the sound made it the scariest film i think i have ever seen, literally had to keep switching it off at points because i was so scared.
@IHasTheRabies4Yaoi Well. Go buy the original version 1977. Not the very bad remake (2009) Sit at home.alone. And trust me. This movie will remain in your head for your entire life. It is not that it is that bloody or gory. Although some scenes are. It is hard to explain. But, trust me. If you watch the original version just once. You will, always at some point in your life , think about it. Yeah. I know. You think i am full of shit. So go rent it or buy it. Then get back to me.
Hey everyone! I posted a video that has a remix of this theme! Trust me you guys will love it! Please watch and thank you :D The name of the video is "Awesome Suspiria Theme Remix" thanks! XD
@TheVenom1001 oops im sorry. but if u have a chance to watch it you will think its great. there may be a little bit of flaws but its entertaining to watch

TERRIFYING. that film was honestly one of the wierdest films I have ever seen. It was awfully made, bad continuity, bad acting and questionable special effects at the end, but the lighting and the sound made it the scariest film i think i have ever seen, literally had to keep switching it off at points because i was so scared.

IHasTheRabies4Yaoi 11 months ago
@IHasTheRabies4Yaoi Well. Go buy the original version 1977. Not the very bad remake (2009) Sit at home.alone. And trust me. This movie will remain in your head for your entire life. It is not that it is that bloody or gory. Although some scenes are. It is hard to explain. But, trust me. If you watch the original version just once. You will, always at some point in your life , think about it. Yeah. I know. You think i am full of shit. So go rent it or buy it. Then get back to me.

The best thing about Suspiria is that it's the last film to use the 3-strip Technicolor process.

"Re-make?"
Of Suspiria?!?!?!
Please, Don't even mention it.
Talk about a reboot of "Gone With The Wind" instead.
Maybe a reboot of "Citizen Kane" LOL!!!

Check out Goblin's album "El Fantastico Viigio del Baggarozzo Mark"
OK! I know! I butchered the spelling. It's in Italian and I don't claim to have a clue.
Still, it's one of the best rock albums of all time.

this theme is pretty creepy. Especially when you hear it while walking alone in the woods at night.

I really like this for some random reason. Then It goes to the creepy mouthing breathing part, then I hate it.

It could be doing with an upgrade in production

Simply beautiful film with truly tragic suspenseful deaths. The blind man especially.
And another win from The Goblin......truly one of greatest bands of all time.

Goblin and John Carpenter, two of the best horror movie music composers ever! You just don't get movie music to compare to the stuff they produced nowadays, especially in horror cinema.
