  • at the very end, does he say "I messed up"?

  • Absolutely beautiful! Love it :-)

  • AMAZING!!!!!!

  • There's a few individual signs that I wouldn't use myself, but overall I like your concepts.

  • Simply wonderful! Thank you for your help. I'll be interpreting this for the first time soon.

  • Really nice job! Just FYI for those that believe he signed "safe" as opposed to "free," that sign you saw can be used to mean several different English words: FREE, INDEPENDENT, REDEEM, FREEDOM, LIBERATE, LIBERTY, RESCUE, SALVATION, SECURE, SAVE, DELIVERANCE AND SAFETY. :)

  • LOL. That was my Professor for a couple of quarters. Great Job DC

  • Happy new year 2011! A person who embraces ASL as their primary language will be considered a member of the Deaf community. I find many hot & sexy deaf girls on a Deaf dating site Deafornot dot c om Good luck to them!!!

  • Thanks your interpretation offers a respect and appreciation that brings tears to my eyes...excellent job

  • Beautiful

  • This was fantastic. You got a lot of subtlety in it that only after watching it over and over again does it finally become clear to me. I've got a lot to learn. I hope you don't mind if I copy. The classifiers for the dawn and dusk really just blew me away. So f-ing clever! If this was a mess up I'd hate to see the final version!!!! Keep going, man. You are going to be an awesome interpreter!

  • Hey! I'm an LCC ITP. I was excited to see a familiar face on there! :o) We are transliterating this for Ethics with BC this week.

  • Dude, you did awesome!

Really helped with my practicing on this.

I saw no mess-up though, haha.

  • yay this video is awesome! im using it for my asl nine weeks exam, thanks for posting this:]

  • This is by far the best example in simple phrases I've seen. :) For a solo project such as this, I applaud you. Kudos. :D

  • I was thinking the exact same thing! Where was the mess up? And I'm also gonna borrow this interpretation! I have to sign the national anthem at our school's football game this friday. :)

  • hey! this was my teacher at lcc! ha.

  • I enjoyed your interpretation a great deal! Very conceptual, enjoyable, and clear.

I think my only (very minor) critique is that when your flag waves, your flagpole is also swaying around -- more and more as the song goes on. I'd mellow out the base of that sign just a touch to make the flag itself, look stronger.

  • i just want to say that i loved how you signed safe instead of free... cause it was just such an asl meaning i loved it... my class actually signed this... i go to cincinnati state... so yeah your home roots...

  • Dude, that was awesome!

  • WOW, can I just say that is a GREAT interpretation. I have searched for years studing all the versions of this song and taking the parts I liked and making my own version. You have all those great qualities. I like that you stayed so true to the ASL and I love adding military into the brave part- I have always wondered what to sign for that.

I'm using your song next time I have to sign it, thanks!

  • Beautiful!!! thanks for sharing :)

  • Very meaningful interpretation! Thank you for sharing.

  • I really enjoyed watching your interpretation of the song. I work as an educational interpreter and I am always looking for new ways to sign things and techniques to help in my interpreting. Thanks for sharing. Great Job!
