Yeah, she went on to like a higher plane of existence or something. Granted, that's not really any different, but c'mon - Could she really go back to being plain old Nono after all that? Nono's goodbye to Lalc, with the story about their ordinary life, was so charming, too - This way we get a much richer mix of feelings at the end than if they all just high-fived and got pizza.

The amnesia was caused by being in "makeshift" stasis for ten thousand years (give or take a few thousands, since it takes 12k years for gunbuster & crew to get back and Diebuster takes place like ten years before final GB episode). She was Found in a meteorite IIRC. so it was simply that her memory banks were corrupt and were overwritten when she became active again.

I also do not like the fact that it was put into the same timeline as episode 6 of the first series, rendering EVERYTHING that was done in Gunbuster USELESS! Well, I won't give you a thumbs down, but you should at least try to look for the deep meaning that that GAINAX usually tries to include.. Nono made the effort to save the earth for the sake that Noriko and Kazumi have a home to return to.. They try to give characters similarities, but try to keep the storylines for the characters completely separate. Personally, I think they left a lot of meaning in a reoccurring ending.. It's like saying "what happened when they were gone."

I will give you that this anime indeed does have more drama than most modern anime. However, it does not come even close to matching the original Gunbuster.

Also, the idea of trying to use the earth as a weapon was pretty retarded. Sure they ended up preventing it, but even the slightest movement of earth would have ruined it's ecosystem, it's orbit, ect. Like I said, no where near as well thought out as the original, and no where near as good. imo it's a smudge on the name Gunbuster.

I think some of you are missing the deliberate thematic differences of the two series; Gunbuster had a big element about sacrifice to achieve victory (all sorts of sacrifice like losing the people you knew because of time dilation, to the big finale with Noriko and Kazumi), but Diebuster has a big thing of hard work and guts being all you need to achieve victory without having to resort to sacrifice.

And the bit with the Earth as a weapon was supposed to be symbolic of that kind of sacrifice.

no, what this anime is, is a pointless continuation. It is revealed in the final episode that this timeline is set in the same timeline as the original Gunbuster's episode 6

Meaning everything Noriko and Kazumi did was put to waste just so Gainax could make a sequel 20 years later.

I would have enjoyed this anime if it was not classified as Gunbuster. However, it was and in it's last episode destroyed all of the impact of the last episode of GB1.

It should have at least been a separate universe.

The original Gunbuster is easily one of my favorite anime ever,but this looks like it's missing the point entirely.

The first gunbuster told a touching tale of the human race, the effects of time, and had overall more drama than super robot action. (Which I found refreshing Anime don't have enough tense drama moments like Gunbuster anymore.)

I never saw Gunbuster, so I wasn't sure what to expect when i started watching this short series. - After watching Diebuster, I can honestly say that I think it is very underrated. It's got great character designs and visuals (aside from some of the CG usage), good music and audio, and a heartwarming story of friendship and going after your dreams. - Like all of Gainax's work, this show takes a lot of influence from Gainax's other series. Diebuster seems to have influenced Gurren Lagann also...

Even though some things were a bit outrageous, I enjoyed this series. The last episode was truly fantastic and it gave me goosebumps, much like the climax did in the original Gunbuster... although the jury is still out on which story I liked better. :p

The ending was one of the better ones I've seen in a while. Good stuff.

They should have just made this into a whole other series, not related to the buster realm. I think I saw a clip of them moving Earth through warp?
